Bought this in error as I wanted one of the other versions. It's okay, but if you're looking for a first one in your collection, then you can do better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really neat little self help tool, 6 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this because I have an ongoing calf/achilles problem and someone told me about myofascial release (which I surfed for). I've used this a couple of times on my calf and, it does hit the spot (pun intended), it's going to take a few more sessions before it properly resolves itself but for the relief it has brought thus far, it was well worth the purchase.

As an added bonus, after more surfing, I found the trigger point relating to a stiff neck/shoulder issue I have had for years (just thought is was me growing old). Bingo, again two sessions later - much improved.

The only downside for this little product (hence the 4 stars) is the lack of information on how to use it - no hits on YouTube, very little on the web. Okay so it only costs a few pounds, so may be that's asking too much, but a couple of videos would help - especially as this is sold as a self help device.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect cross trainer for those on a budget, 29 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: York X201 Elliptical (Sports)
Like others, I read a number of reviews of a number of different eliptical trainers before deciding on this one. I didn't want to spend "too much" money on one, but I wanted something that would be reasonably sturdy and substantial, and finding this coming in at just over half price seemed to fit the bill.

As others have said it's probably a two person job to put together comfortably, though I managed it on my own in about 1.5 hours. Construction was (appart from the weight) surprisingly easy, and when finished you've got something that is pretty substantial but doesn't take up that much space. Mine is in the garage and is reasonably easy to move around, albeit it is heavy, and its wheels work okay.

As for use, well it's got a pretty standard set of programs (interval, fat burner etc) and the ability to create your own program. You can also change the intensity of the program(s) as well. So far it's early days, but it works pretty well. It feels solid and robust enough - it's not going to wobble or collapse during an exercise routine.

The bottom line is that I am very pleased with this purchase - it does what I want more than adequately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple exercises to make you a better swimmer, 26 April 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm a Masters swimmer and have been out of the water for some time. I bought this book to "fast track" myself back into fitness. I think it is fair to say that the book contains _no_ new exercises; however what the book does, and does *really well*, is show you why an exercise is good for certain parts of your swim stroke.

Having read it end-to-end in a couple of hours I produced a couple of strength training regimes to work through. I would recommend this book to pretty much any swimmer who wants to do something to complement their pool training.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beginners book only!, 24 July 2001
People buying any book that says "Teach Yourself... in 24 Hours" usually know what there getting. This is no exception, it's very basic on it's depth/coverage.
100 pages before it goes into descriptions of loops, this probably says a lot for its content. Given that the book is only 380 pages long your not going to get blown away by detail.
That said if you've limited/no progaramming background then this book might be ideal as it is easy to read.
