5.0 out of 5 stars contrasts with a sharp edge, 4 April 2011
This review is from: Derek Jarman's Garden (Hardcover)
This book contains a collection of photos, reflections and short glimpses outlining the atmosphere at a most remote and fateful location where it seems a miracle that anything can grow. At the edge of everything Derek Jarman had a place for collecting things and thoughts, growing and managing plants in a garden. The book offers a moment of regarding the everyday life - and the border between life and death, threat and safety - on a distance and inspires to thoughtful gardening beyond everything which is associated with the ordinary and smooth.

5.0 out of 5 stars A smooth mellow flow, 4 April 2011
This review is from: The Caution Horses (Audio CD)
The album is built up by a slow lingering rhythm, which, even in somewhat faster tunes, never leaves the Earth. The sound is almost romantic, the songs are performed thoughtfully throughout the track list.

Tasca Beat-O Sonho Portugues
Price: £15.52

3.0 out of 5 stars Repetitions of a highlight, 4 April 2011
The first track, Oxalá te veja, first caught my interest on youtube, with its beat and happy frenzy and it was the reason for ordering the cd. The album is characterized by the beat of the first track, and contains several nice tunes, but the rhythm gets stuck on a rather narrow track and the album does not keep delivering strong individual tunes but more like repetitions of the first. It is worth having though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding experience, 4 April 2011
Laurie Anderson masters the art of telling the simplest of stories in a spellbinding way. The book is interesting to skim but the cd is absolutely the core of this product. The story is a set of scattered reflections, fragmented diary pieces told in a reflective way. As such it is yet another of Laurie's experimental projects based on her vocal performance. The style is meditative and the told fragments amusing and very Lauriesque.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most enjoyable listening, 4 April 2011
This review is from: Concierto de Aranjuez (Audio CD)
This orchestral work delivers a beautiful dialogue between orchestra and solo guitar and Paco de Lucia is a supreme multi-faceted musician who treats both the Concierto de Aranjuez and the interplay with the orchestra very dynamically.
