2.0 out of 5 stars The writing is lazy and was done better in "The Graduate" almost 40 years ago, 8 Oct. 2015

Yet another formulaic coming-of -age series, with a set of characters straight out of any American high school movie. You have the central nerdy character, the outrageous misogynistic buddy, cute girls, thick jocks and no characterisation that we haven't seen 100 times before. And as usual all the actors are much older than their characters-- I believe that the main male and female leads are both in their early 30's, playing characters who are supposed to be 15, just coming up to 16. The writing is lazy and was done better in "The Graduate" almost 40 years ago.
So I don't know who this show is supposed to appeal to -- the "American Pie" audience perhaps?
A rotten show and I'm surprised it made it past the pilot.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite tall enough to do the job, 27 Sept. 2015

Although the quality of these budget wine bags is perfectly acceptable, they are not really deep enough to comfortably take a standard bottle of wine. I like a wine bag where the bottle is fully encased in the bag, but the height of these bags leaves the top of the bottle exposed. Fine for beer bottles, but not a full sized wine bottle.

The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion
The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion
by Fannie Flagg
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A reunion of heart warming quality, 15 April 2015
A really enjoyable story, with many interesting characters. The main character is Sookie, a Southern Belle, who discovers her childhood roots are very different from her assumed past. It merges modern suburban life in Alabama with life in Wisconsin in the 1940's. The two entwining stories gradually moved together as Sookie finds out more about her real family and becomes more comfortable with who she is and where she comes from..
Very engaging and a delight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thought Provoking and Original, 28 Mar. 2015

I really enjoyed this film; its combination of humour and pathos made it extremely thought provoking. All the main characters are well portrayed - in fact there's not one dud performance in the whole film. Full marks to Helen Hunt; as the main female character; she manages to avoid the prurient despite spending a heck of a lot of screen time undressed. And as always William Macy invests his character with utter credibility. I'd describe this as a "grown up film"-- far away from the usual pyrotechnics of a Hollywood film.
Watch and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great presenter, 18 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I do a lot of presentations to large groups using a projector and screen via a laptop. I wanted a wireless presenter so I didn't have to continually hop back and forth to the laptop to change the screens. I bought this on a recommendation and it works perfectly. This is one of those products that does exactly what you expect, efficiently and with no drama. It's easy to use, easy to install and quite simply just what I needed. You plug the stubby little wireless USB in your laptop or computer, the operating system automatically finds the little do-dah and off you go. Couldn't be easier!
For what it does, it's extremely good value; I like the way you can fit the little wireless USB inside the case of the presenter so it can't get lost. Besides seamlessly moving the slides on, there's a red laser beam for highlighting.
All in all, I can't imagine anything better and have already recommended it to loads of people. You won't be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Teasing and engaging, 2 Mar. 2014
Like all pilots, part of watching the programme is trying to gauge what it's all about and whether you find the characters interesting or amusing. Of course the set- up scenes are not going to give you all the answers, but this was an interesting introduction.
The production values were high, and the acting believable. Not wishing to give anything away, the police officer character didn't act as assertively as would be naturally part of her training, but I suspect that character weakness is part of the plot.

I would certainly like to see more, although, like the TV series "Lost", often once the enigma is resolved, or alternatively the plot development becomes too unbelievable, it is easy to lose interest, Almost always the intriguing plot puzzles fall flat once the script writers produce the denouement.
Like other reviewers I wold certainly like to see more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead riviting!, 21 Jun. 2013
I cannot recommend this game highly enough. In 15 years of gaming I've never encountered any game where you engage so totally with the characters; their outcome and conclusions really matter to you as the protagonist.
Like many gamers, I was reluctant to buy yet another zombie "shoot-'em-up"; hoards of approaching zombies, bang, bang, yawn, yawn. This game is different. The story is strong and dramatic and the voice acting is superb. As you will know from other reviews, the graphics are drawn rather than computer generated, but the pace of the game rarely leaves you to think about the art work.
Dare I say that it is one of the most intelligent and reflective games I've come across since... well, ever actually!
Buy it, enjoy it and replay it.

I can thoroughly recommend this game, and I found the quality and style of the artwork especially satisfying; I was continually impressed with the architecture, the geography and sound environment.Certainly I cannot think of any PC game that has looked so ravishing. I am/was a great fan of the "Thief" series of stealth games and this game has the advantage of much better graphics. I'm very lucky because I have a powerful PC with fast broadband so the game downloaded from "Steam" in under 15 minutes.

It's one of those paradoxical games where I can't stop playing it, but don't want it to end! It's just won an award as the "FPS of the year"; well deserved in my opinion, so buy and enjoy.

I have waited for this game for ages, ever since the first trailers were issued; I was impressed with the concept( homage to Stephen King's genre?) and the quality of the visuals. Then of course it was only issued as a console game. Now it has been issued as a game for the PC but I'm afraid the end result is not worth the wait.
It is very linear, with no allowance at all for following anything other than the scripted path. The transition from the console is very obvious, with no real mapping of keys, and the usual inability to save at random. After a while the dispatching of enemies becomes repetitive and because any player action is usually preceded by a cut scene you spend an awful lot of time watching the action, rather than taking part.

The script is good and the voice acting is of a high standard; the quality of the graphics is average, and once again displays the transition from a console game,

In all,a good idea badly translated to the PC. My suggestion, buy it when the game becomes a cut price reissue.
