5.0 out of 5 stars great quality items, 29 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Yep, great quality items. The croc clip is a beast, with wide opening and a copper band joining the two contact faces, for good connection - I can believe it would take 400A, although as my box only goes up to 160A I'll never get to test it to the limit. The electrode holder is a twist-grip type - you put the electrode in and spin the handle to cause the vice in the head to grip the rod. The electrode holder is similarly well made, and is comfortable and controllable. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favourite, 29 Feb. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Wonderful pen. Feels just right in the hand, and writes perfectly. And hopefully the all-metal construction means I won't get the problem of the cap splitting on me after a few months, which is what I have had with some brand names costing 5 times as much. Absolutely my favourite writing pen.

Note that it comes with a refillable ink reservoir - you dip the nib in your ink bottle, turn the twizzler on the end of the reservoir, and it sucks up the ink from the bottle. Not quite as clean as with a cartridge, as you have to dab the excess off with a bit of kitchen paper when done. But reasonably easy to do, I did it without getting ink on me or anywhere it shouldn't be, and buying ink by the bottle is *loads* cheaper than buying it by the cartridge. I calculate that at cartridge prices 50ml of ink would cost you over £50, whereas a 50ml bottle of branded ink from Parker or Waterman is about £5.

1.0 out of 5 stars A tale of woe, 23 Feb. 2015
We had one of these and when connected to a nearly new laptop, the laptop died. We thought it was a fault of the laptop, and sent that away for repair (new motherboard). On the next outing of the monitor (we use the monitor occasionally, for exhibitions), all the USB ports of another laptop we connected to it failed. Only at this point did we suspect the monitor (still less than a month old). We tested the power supply and found it had over 80 volts of a.c. breakthrough on it (at low current). We took the monitor back to the retailer and said 'if you do test that, be careful', to which they replied, 'yeah we know, we've had another of these break one of our computers already' and refunded us. We thought Hanns-G ought to know, and they were very communicative, but ultimately said that the 80v a.c. on what should have been a 12v d.c. power supply leading to a 5v USB connection was normal, and denied liability for the equipment failures we experienced. Note also the 1-star review by David Morgans who similarly suffered equipment damage, and the 3 star review by Bruce Miller who says "Rather alarmingly when I tried reconnecting the usb plug bright sparks arced between the PC and plug."

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine with my Skoda Octavia II (2011, 1Z3 chassis, BSE 8v 1.6 petrol engine), 26 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As described, easy to use, and works fine with with a 2011 Skoda Octavia Mk II petrol (1Z3 chassis, 8 valve 1.6 petrol BSE engine - this engine is also found in the Audi A3 and the Golf Mk 5).

With my Octavia it reads codes from: Engine (inc ECU details and readiness test for measuring pass/fail of catalytic converter etc), Air bags, Radio, ABS, Cent. Elect., CAN Gateway. The VS450 menu also offers the following, but these don't turn up on my 1Z3 Octavia (transmission is manual, so clearly there is no 'Auto Trans' to read, etc - I include the list for your interest): Immobilizer, AWD, Aux heat, Instruments, Auto Trans, Auto HVAC, Steering wheel, Cent. Locks., Navigation, Int. Monitor, Cent. Conv., Xenon Range.

The OBD connector on an Octavia II, if you're looking for it, is in the driver's footwell under the dash near the top of the bonnet release lever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful map but on very thin paper, 23 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good map, on a very large scale, and helpfully marked with latitude and longitude grid so you can translate your GPS readings to where you are on the map if you know how. Loses one star though for being on very thin and fragile paper - we used it for 5 days in Lanzarote and just in that short time it picked up some tears along the folds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have bought several of these and been happy with them all., 23 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
We've got these on various bikes belonging to the family, and have been happy with them all. Front light beam brightness and width is good, plus it gives some light to be seen by on the sides, and the 2 x AA batteries last well. Having piddly AAA batteries in the back light is a pest - I like to use AA for everything - but I've not found a AA-powered back light yet, and the AAA batteries last well in the back. The horizontal aspect rear light is good for going on the seat post under the saddle. If you want to mount it on the frame stays next to the wheel, they do a vertical aspect rear light which is better in that application.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know why I waited so long to get one, 23 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of those "how do they do it for the price" jobs. Good item, especially for the price, and if you've been using a regular (non-auto) helmet up to now, you'll be surprised as to how much easier and better your welding is with something like this. Instantly becomes a must-have item.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's yellow and it clips on to your Moto E, 23 Sept. 2014

It's a clip on shell for a Moto E, and it's yellow. What else would you want for? Expensive for what after all is just a bit of plastic, but it fits perfectly and looks good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality item, 23 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Just to look at it and hold it is to see and feel that it is a great quality item. Bought this after getting fed up of various cheapies that didn't work or failed quickly. One thing to be aware of is that the interior is lit up with a blue LED that you see through the USB holes, and this is quite bright - fine normally and a useful confirmation that it is powered up, but distracting on a car dashboard at night.

1.0 out of 5 stars The "4GB" mobile phone that leaves you with 0.4GB for your apps, 25 July 2014
This phone is nearly brilliant. Good size and weight, useful battery life, powerful processor, nice screen. But it is fatally flawed. Type something like “acer liquid e2 phone storage problem” into your search engine to find the tragic stories of people (me included) bewailing this.

The problem boils down to this. The Acer Liquid E2 has 4GB of storage space. About 1.9GB of that is used by the Android operating system. On most phones that would leave you with 2GB of space for your apps - not overly generous, but enough for many users. The Moto E (which we have in this household as well as an E2) for example works exactly like this - 4GB of space, 1.9GB taken for the operating system, leaving 2GB or so for your apps.

But not the Acer Liquid E2. For some reason that no one can fully explain, it has a 1.65GB partition called "phone storage", that is unavailable to you and cannot be deleted (or at least not without rooting your phone and writing your own operating system image, of which I have heard rumours but no verifiable stories of success). So as supplied and fresh out of the box, your "4GB" phone has a whole 0.4GB of app space. By the time you've had it for 6 months and put maybe a dozen or 20 apps on it, you'll start getting out-of-memory errors and messages, and rue the day you ever bought this fatally flawed phone.

It is an extraordinarily stupid oversight by the manufacturer, and amazingly they have not offered any fix for it. I'd steer well clear of this, and I'll be wary of this brand for a long time to come.
