I was encouraged to read the book after seeing a recent production on T.V.The poor quality of sound on the film made me. eager to read the words rather than look at the pictures. It was the sort of plot that made you want keep reading to the end as quickly as possible so quickly in fact that I didn't have time to appreciate the less exciting features of the book
Realism gone crazy.Writers like John Steinbeck and Charles Dickens take you down to the depth of human nature in a skillful way. L.P. does not have the same skill and her language was disgusting.I stopped reading half way through the first chapter
I was inspired to read the book after seeing the stage version at our local Play House. The book reads almost like the script of the play.John Steinbeck dose not make you laugh but he certainly makes you think
This book is a classic.John Steinbeck is a words smith. His style drags you down into the heart of the problem of poverty.Even so he manages to convey a feeling of hope that what ever the situation human beings still have hope and a strong desire to survive.
