Biker's Baby: Devil's Wings MC
Biker's Baby: Devil's Wings MC
Price: £0.99

1.0 out of 5 stars Truly awful - don't read, 10 Jun. 2017
There are some great books on Kindle Unlimited, but believe me this isn't one of them. Just awful.

The author clearly hadn't re-read her work at all - the plot just doesn't hang together. For example, the heroine announces her identity to the hero right at the outset and yet much of the later parts of the book are taken up with him working out who she really is. The baby promised in the blurb doesn't feature the very end and so is not pat of the story at all.

And that's aside from the casual acceptance of prostitution as a way of life/business venture.

And the editing is dreadful. Words missing, letters missing - especially in the later stage. Don't read that far.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet - porn stars are people too!, 15 May 2017

Yes, a bit too much insta-lust and swooning, and almost no 'boy loses girl' scenario, but an interesting context and sweet as only Zapata does it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and funny - any more from this cast Mariana?, 11 May 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Nice to read a book about a tomboy who doesn't roll over and become a simpering wimp. A sweet story with very little by way of heartache. Perhaps the lack of real 'boy loses girl' moment made it less satisfying, but also less contrived and predictable. I particularly liked the interaction with the secondary characters and thought them reasonably well developed. I'd read Gordo's story for sure, and Julian's. And Eli's. And Carter's
. In fact Zapata has a whole cast waiting in the wings...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm - personality disorder?, 11 May 2017

Ok, so I've read this book twice, so there's something to get out of it. And I like Zapata's signature 'slow burn'. But second time around I definitely felt there was more going on with Aiden than acknowledged by the narration or explained by his past. The man is either a sociopath or somewhere further along on the autistic spectrum than average. And that would be great if the author ran with it - those sorts if character traits should be explored more. But it was as though she just intended him to be the strong and silent type and all the more attractive for that. And I didn't buy it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite right, 11 May 2017

I have loved everything else I've read by Mariana Zapata. I like the slow burn, the anticipation, the thrill of the chase. And it's not just Kulti's silence - the 'Wall of Winnipeg' is a man of few words and I loved him. No, there's something not quite right about this relationship and it made me itch uncomfortably.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely, just lovely, 10 Mar. 2017

I came to Penny Reid via the Elements of Chemistry books, weirdly, but this series is in a whole different league. I've been rereading them after the latest Winston Brothers episode and I realised I'd never read this one. Like some others I'd thought it was an 'out-takes' novella - but it's so much more. More than any of the others it had my heart in my mouth and tears in my eyes. I think Janie, the non-knitter, and 'grumpy' Quinn are at the heart of this group of unique characters. I don't think it matters what order you read this one in. My pre-order for Dating-ish is in - and I too can't wait for Kat and Dan, whenever their story comes. Love you Penny Reid

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking, heartwarming: circus is family, 5 Mar. 2017
This review is from: Infini (Kindle Edition)
It's a long time since I cried over characters, but these are so warmly written I was massively drawn in to their world. Really plausible yet dramatic reasons to be kept apart.

Read Amour Amour first - you don't have to but you'll be glad you did.

Please tell me we're going to get Dimitri's story, and Katya's, and Timo's, and Sergei's, and Peters? Please, please, please!

I can't tell you how much I love Penny Reid's books and this may be my favourite series. Written with wit and warmth and a real feel for small-town America (or the myth of small-town America - doesn't matter to me either way, it feels very real). I particularly love the fact that the entire cast has purpose and you can never be sure when their story will emerge front and cente. Fabulous.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cliffhanger, 28 Feb. 2017
Not fair. Make it clear - it's not enough to say it's a duet if it's really half a story; half a book.

Great characters and plot don't make up for the disappointment.
