4.0 out of 5 stars A slight return to the days of "Jagged"., 25 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Under Rug Swept (Audio CD)
This album sees a more refined sound that could only have come from an incredible, experimental album like "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie". The song "Hands Clean"(the first single) finally reveals something she has left hidden from the public for years."Precious Illusions", the second and latest single to be lifted from this album is one of the best as is "So Unsexy". There's also the funky "A Man" and slower, beautiful songs like "That Particular Time" and "You Owe me Nothing in Return" (which is also very insightful). I took off one star because I think it's slightly over-produced but it should get 4.5.
For fans of "Jagged Little Pill" who didn't like "Supposed",Alanis is back and for those who appreciated "Supposed", she never left but has changed direction once again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best from Supposed..., 25 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Joining You [CD 2] (Audio CD)
Joining You is the best track and most worthy single from the under-appreciated album "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie". It manages to be yet up-beat yet saddening and handles the sensitive subject matter of suicide. This is one of the best songs of her career.Usually I would have taken off a star for the fact that there is only one track but the quality of the song makes it a worthy purchase.I recommend all the albums especially "Supposed".

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad..., 24 Aug. 2003
This is definitly only a purchase for hard-core fans who want an insight on Alanis' rise to fame. However, I expected more interviews with Alanis but it does explain the artist's life concisely. It's certainly interesting for what it is but I don't think this is a necessary Alanis product. Please note that it contains no new music by her.

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive Tori album., 24 Aug. 2003
This was the second Tori Amos album I bought (the first was "Little Eathquakes") and is still my favourite now that I have "Boys for Pele", "Under the Pink" and To "Venus and Back".
I usually tend to listen to rock music so I think Tori Amos will appeal to anyone who ventures out of the pop bubble. Anyway "From the Choirgirl Hotel" is breath taking and sees Tori using a full band (drums, guitar and bass)to amazing affect.
Songs such as "Spark" show off beautiful melodies while others like "Iiiee" and "Hotel" seem experimental but still flow seamlessly with the rest of the album. "Northern Lad" is profoundly emotional and Tori's voice sounds beautiful. In fact this whole album gives a new meaning to that over-used word. Apart from the previously mentioned tracks, "Playboy Mommy" and "Shes Your Coccaine" also immediately strike you.
That said, in time you'll love every track.Enjoy...
