A little wonky but supports 2 27" monitors fine. Base could have been a bit wider.

3.0 out of 5 stars B&W is good, but..., 4 Jun. 2004
Good picture for an old, black and white film, and hte sound quality is as good as it will get. However, the colourised version...well...looks like it has been coloured in with crayons.
Avoid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slipknot?, 4 Jun. 2004
Corey has really shown us what he is capable of. For 3 or 4 songs on this album, I thought I was listening to Pink Floyd. This is the new Slipknot, whether you like it or not, and they have evolved. Some truly brilliant songs on this album, the kind that your Dad might enjoy. Slipknot had become a household name meaning a loud, shouty, melody lacking teen band. Well, not any more. Well, I guess they still are, but they are a lot more besides. Buy this album, and throw Iowa away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, 1 under appreciated track, 12 Mar. 2004
This review is from: Life Is Peachy (Audio CD)
I love this album for a few reasons.
It seems to be KoRn's 'weird' stage as I call it. Allow me to make it clearer.
Korn = Strongest stage
Life Is Peachy = Weird stage
Follow The Leader = Drug-fuelled stage
Issues = Party stage
Untouchables = Nu-metal stage
Take A Look In The Mirror = Peak Hardcore Stage.
Peachy really is interesting. People love ADIDAS, Good God and Wicked, but the best song on this album is actually Mr Rogers. This is a truly brilliant song. The fact that it sounds like it's being recorded in a tin can gives it a truly raw sound. It's a jittery song which tells the story of a TV program Jon used to watch: Mr Rogers. If you're not familiar with this show, it was about a nice man who told all kids to be nice to everyone. When Jon tried this on 'school bullies' or 'hard kids' it was obvious they weren't going to take kindly to it. Jonathan Davis really puts on his vengeful character here and I love it. If you are new to Korn, then I highly recommend this album, not for Mr Rogers alone, but also for the opening mini track twist and the genuine sense of being with korn on this recording.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good album, except for a few omissions..., 4 Feb. 2004
This is a good Very Best Of. However it did omit several songs from the previous 'Best Of'. Tracks 12-18 are fairly poor, which is a let-down; but this is saved by their brilliant version of The Band Played Waltzing Matilda.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 23 Dec. 2003

Importing this DVD was well worth it. I'm glad I bought it because it is the best of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. The DVD coems ith both versions of the film, the un-rated and the R-rated version. You cannot buy it in the UK yet as it has only recently been allowed by the BBFC. I highly recommend importing it. It arrived in just 11 days! You'll need a region 1 encoder, but thats not a problem if you have a DVD ROM in your computer.
I love this film, it is worth every penny.

3.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment., 10 July 2003
This review is from: Follow The Leader (Audio CD)
This is Korn's worst album.
And from Korn's most avid fan, you should believe it.
Starting off with the 13 tracks of 5 seconds of utter silence, the CD starts with a very anti-climactic track 'It's On!' which never seems to quite make it. Then, the only decent track, 'Freak On A Leash' which, although slightly different from their regular music, is still an impressive tune. This is then followed by several awful tracks such as 'Children Of The Korn' with rapper Ice Cube ( That is what I least like about the album) and 'All In The Family' with Fred Durst. This track is disappointing because it is completely irrelevant from the rest of the album, and seems just like an excuse to duet with the Limp Bizkit frontman.
Avoid.

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Are You Ready?', 25 Jun. 2003
This review is from: Korn (Audio CD)
This is Korn's debut album, But the last one I bought. That was a mistake, I should have made it my first!
This really gives an impression of the many ways Korn can riff and scream your head off. From the almost whiney and puerile tracks such as 'Blind', 'Faget' and 'Clown', which seem to have a haunting, moaning resonance about them, to the emotional tracks such as the shocking 'Daddy'. Munky and Head are at the best with their Tagteam-like guitar playing, often echoing one another in tracks such as 'Daddy'.
Fieldy, the bass player, is very prominent (as always) with his unmistakable string slapping. What would Korn be without him?
Jon Davis' stunning vocal talent is quite remarkable and very atmospheric, as he adds very in-depth sound effects and realistic anger in 'Faget' and 'Daddy'.
David plays incredibly distant sounding drum rhythms, often sounding almost intimidating, making the track all the more of an angry adolescent sounding scream session!
This is truly their best album, and it has only one weak track; 'Predictable'. Which, it is.
I suggest that if you like the angry style of Metallica, and the bass quality and low riffing of Guns n' roses, and then buy 'Untouchables'
Oh, And yes, you can class it as nu-metal, but thats only half the excitement. The other half is pure, undistilled metal!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, 1 Jun. 2003
This review is from: Dog Soldiers [DVD] [2002] (DVD)
I thought this film was great. So few British horror movies, any are appreciated by me. I recently watched 28 days later also. I loved both.
No CGI, Great low budget; perfect! Basically, some British soldiers are on a training exercise in Scotland, but they find the remains of a Spec Ops crew. Then chased by werewolves, they find themselves in an old farmhouse with a strange woman. The werewolves attack, and soon, some of them are werewolves...
Great acting from Kevin McKidd and Sean Pertwee (Son of John, who was Wurzel Gummage!)
There are many references to other films such as Aliens. For example, when they are counting how much ammo they have between them, and When they say 'They blew the generator!'
Also, the biggest The Matrix gag: 'There is no spoon!' Any matrix fans will spot this.
A great movie, with lots going for it. buy it. right here, right now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool Film. Obey., 14 May 2003
This review is from: They Live [DVD] [1989] (DVD)
I had never heard of this film until one night when I was walking round the video store. I saw this on the shelf and looked at the back. Hmmm... John Carpenter. My favourite. Keith David is also a great actor. I'd never heard of the main star though.(isn't he a wrestler or something?)
So I took it home, and after looking at the description and the pictures on the back of the case, I decided it would be an enjoyable horror movie. Oops.
But it is not a horror movie. Neither is it even remotely scary! But it is a wonderfully made film with pretty good acting. Basically, some strange aliens are taking over the earth, and only a small group of people know about it. They make some special sunglasses which are the only way you can see the things. Our hero, John Nada, finds some and joins the people.
A cool fight scene in the middle, a hilarious ending, and a great theme tune. Typically Carpenterian in every way, But buy it only if you cannot find it in video stores.
