1.0 out of 5 stars Prawn finger, 5 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An awful product. One the fingers represents a shrivelled prawn. All fingers are different shapes and made of random material. Stitching is week and done badly. If seems the manufacturer found a bag of off cuts in the street, took it home and made gloves to sell on the internet.

Buy these if you hate quality products and gloves that fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book a diver can buy, 4 July 2010
EVERY single piece of information you need to understand decompression theory. Detailing the discovery of Decompression Theory, covering the history and progression in field data, including modern thoughts and theories. Every area is broken down into it's separate component so even a beginner can get a grasp. One of the best explanation of M-Values I've come across, of which I pass the information onto my Divemaster students to help them understand.

A must read, for sure. Also a reference book you'll keep turning back to again and again.

Buy it now and get reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars For the beginner diver..., 22 July 2009
I bought this book thinking it may be a good reference book for my students. Yes it may be that, but if you are a professional, be it DM or instructor and if you're looking for a book that will inform then this book is not for you.

The author drags on about obvious mistakes that anybody with decent common sense and experience can avoid. If you have been taught how to dive in the correct way by a thorough instructor, who follows things by the book, then you will never get into the situations described in the book.

Diving safely takes common sense above all. Instruction is there to help you make decisions about what to do and when to make decisions. Yes there is bravado in diving as there is in any sport, and yes this may well lead you into trouble on a dive, but that's not related to diving that's related to the wrong attitude.

On the plus side the author does go into detail about different diving techniques with the book. Annoyingly in the middle of each chapter, mid-paragraph sometimes, rather than at the end or beginning. Therefore if you are aware of this technique you have to flick through to continue, if you are not you've forgotten what was happening by the time you return to the story. But the detail is there. If you are unaware of the technical details of tech diving, cave diving or the likes then you can learn from the interjections in the chapters.

If you are a beginner then this book will be good to give you an inside as to what can go wrong on a dive and how to avoid it. If you are a professional or experience diver then look elsewhere.

Remember, common sense is the key to safety, of which most of the divers in the situations described in the book are lacking.

Stay safe and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 22 July 2009
This review is from: PDQ Thai (Audio CD)
I used this for 6 months on my cycle to work before moving to Thailand. Not only does it teach you the basic grammar it breaks down how to announce long words (the backwards build up technique, they call it). After 6 months, when i was on my bike i would be chanting Thai to myself!

After arriving in Thailand, with having this as my only tuition, many Thai's said that my speech was very clear and understandable, unlike other farang (foreigners).

Not only does this course give you a basis to start upon it also enable you to break down sentences and understand what is being spoken to you.

A brilliant way to start learning a language, couldn't be easier. You just need to put the time in. Each unit is around 45 minutes long. My cycle ride was exactly that, so I'd repeat the morning's unit on the way home for reference. Two 45 minutes sessions a day will bring you on leaps and bounds and get you start on the language of a beautiful country, with beautiful people. Bring on the smiles.

I've also started the PDQ Spanish now. The Structure and Subjects are identical making me think it's going to be an easy ride. Might even try my hand at Japanese some day !!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great reference, 22 July 2009
A great reference for the avid scrabble player. Each word has it's suffix varieties, (eg FIX, 'ES, 'ING, 'ED) then a brief explanation for confirm the meaning of the word.

My only drawback is that, with this book being American, there are words that us English speakers wouldn't use. for example "ET - The past tense of eat". Obviously in English we use ATE, with ET being used as a colloquialism.

But that being said with an Englilsh Dictionary as a second reference to answer the questionable Americanisms, this is a quick and easy reference to be used.

I bought my copy from a US seller through Amazon for about £1. Bargain.
