Two-stroke power units;: Their design and application,
In this book the author discusses the design, development and applications of small two stroke power units for automative, marine, light stationary and portable pack use.
The true potential of this essentially simple form of internal combustion engine has been realised now and the author explains the reasons for this and the methods by which two stroke power units have been developed as the most effective in some fields - tuned two strokes have achieved a power output of over 220 b.h.p. per litre - more than any non supercharged four stroke engine.
The reasons behind current practice are looked at in detail - as are the means by which they are put into effect. Chapters are devoted to basic design factors, ports and valves, cylinders and pistons, crankshafts and connecting rods, carburation and ignition, silencing and exhaust, lubrication and cooling. European, American and Japanese engines and components are compared and the requirements for small two strokes in their principal applications are analysed.
Two stroke power units is a comprehensive illustrated book with photographs, schematic and cutaway drawings
