5.0 out of 5 stars Just gut music !!!, 7 Feb. 2011
This review is from: A Light In The Sky (Audio CD)
Mr. Airey, who seemingly contributed his keyboards to every rock and metal album over the past 35 years, puts out a second one on his own. Heaving reached his personal Olympus by supplying the black & whites for Deep Purple, succeeding the departed Jon Lord, this solo comes down the same alley. It is the heavy Hammond-Mooged filet-mix of instrumentals and songs on a concept canvas. Pure, incredibly skilled and crisp and heavy fun. Keyboard lovers delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Say YES to this book !!!, 7 Feb. 2011
The world did not need this book, ... but if you were taken close to the edge for some karnevil in the seventies and you felt you had a saucerful of secrets when your supper was ready, you want it!!! Like you wanted that Minimoog instead of your first own car back then. The book looks and feels good, colourful and informative (hey, you knew all the facts and stories already, did you!? But nice to see it wrapped this nice way again), and when you flip and read through it, it confirms what you knew anyway all those past 40 years: that life holds more than a 3:15 pop song, but can be a full-fledged 360-degree-quadrophonic-70mm-technicolour-supermarionation-120track-sensurround-flight over topographic oceans, yep! Satisfying, good fun for the money, ... and were and how often do you really get this these days ??? ;-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Ramm-bamm, thank you Ma'am !!!, 7 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Sub Focus (Audio CD)
Call it drums and bass, call it techno, call it whatever you want. If you are not a die-hard fan of a particular type of music (where the listener becomes a collector) there are those compositions or recordings that just work for you ... and this is one of those rare breeds. Conditioned in the early seventies, my likings are typically first generation progressives, early electronic and the heavy guitar bits. DnB worked occasionally nice to bounce around on a party, but not more. Sub Focus is different: stumbling over it when researching on re-releases of the Dutch group FOCUS from the seventies, being intrigued by the amazon provided samples (love that intro taken from an early VANGELIS), ordering, playing and plainly loving it (which doesn't happen too often these days with new releases any more, after some 40 years of listening) ... I could probably give it to my grandma, and she would like it ... worth a try!
