I've used this scoop/clip nearly every day since I bought it (3 months to date) and love it. Does the job as a scoop and then does a second job as a clip to seal the coffee bag back up. Robust, functional and very practical.

I'm very good at losing earrings but this pair have never fallen out. They do not irritate my ears either despite wearing them continuously for many days. The pins are quite thick which I like and they are not too long so there is no danger of getting scratched. I've had them a few months now and can say they are the best value pair of stud earrings I've ever had bearing in mind size, price and amount of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, 15 Sept. 2012
Love Laurel and Hardy so can't really fault this collection. There is so much to choose from, either watch them in a random fashion or watch them in disc order. They are not set out in chronological order, but grouped into themes. This didn't matter to me as I find them all so amusing. What makes this collection so good is that this original comedy duo are still entertaining to watch after 80 or so years and can be viewed again and again and still make you laugh out loud. Also, many of the films have had colour added (though you still have the choice of viewing the original black and white), which is amazing.

This is certainly the best pepper mill I have ever used. Looks good, feels good and works very well. I use it every day, no signs of wear. Smooth action, delivers a lot of pepper with each twist, very robust. I'm very pleased I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving, 11 Mar. 2012

This is an extremely moving account of a man's thoughts, feelings and actions as he struggles to cope with his wife's illness. The book is written very sensitively and the emotion is never over-stated making it all the more touching. The injustice of the situation and the anger at the helplessness felt during the decline are portrayed in a very subtle way without any bitterness or moaning.

The subject matter is tragic, so it would be hard to say I 'enjoyed' it, but I was left feeling very glad that I had read this book. The author seems to have done the very best that he could for his wife and daughter during those difficult years and I would imagine this book would be very inspiring to anyone in a similarly difficult situation.

This review is from: Hangman (Kindle Edition)
This book tells the story of a short period in a young woman's life when something quite tragic happened. The author was just a shy teenager studying for school exams when a friend attempts suicide and is hospitalized. The book is sensitively written, though all from the point of view of the author of course, so other people's thoughts and feelings are never discussed. This may seem a little one sided but the book came across as heart felt and genuine. The style of writing was smooth and easy to follow. I enjoyed it a lot, seeing into the mind of a teenager who had more than enough problems and worries of her own and then being forced to cope with somebody else's personal trauma.

There were, unfortunately, numerous spelling mistakes and punctuation anomalies, however, if you can see past those the book is certainly worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational, 28 July 2011
I read this book as I am (attempting) to learn the French language and felt knowing a bit of the history of France would be a good idea. I found this book to be very informative, covering about 2000 years of history. It was easy to read and introduced the historical figures not just with facts and figures but with a little about each of their personalities and describing why they acted as they did which made it all the more easier to digest.

I'm usually put off history books by the long lists of dates and descriptions of battles fought, but this book had more of a human touch and I certainly learned a lot of very interesting facts not just about France but about Europe in general and how the countries reacted together throughout the last 100 years or so.

There are many references to other books throughout so if you wanted to read in depth about any particular era or person it would be easy to find a suitable source. The fifteen chapters are divided well and the indexing is very good (I read the paperback version). I would recommend this book to anyone with even the slightest interest in France or in European history who wishes to learn more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good book, 16 Jun. 2011

This review is from: The Dark Threads (Paperback)
This book is a well written and fascinating life story and I found it hard to put down - wanting to know how Jean got herself out of the awful situation she had been pushed into. It's the story of a teenage girl from what we would now call a 'dysfunctional' family who wants more for herself than those around her seem to want. Her family seem to have no ambition or aspirations for a brighter future but Jean does, and through trying to express her needs for more meaning to her life she ends up in a home for mental patients being forced to take more and more drugs for her supposed 'problem'.

My heart was with the author all the way through the book, and I was eager to find how she eventually escaped from all the misdiagnoses of so called experts. Thankfully Jean's story has a happy ending and she was able to pull herself out of the desperate situation by her own efforts.
I would recommend this book to any person, young or old who has questions about the futility of a seemingly meaningless life and I would also recommend it to anyone who has ever suffered from shyness and the inability to express themselves against the more forceful and louder speaking people around them.
