a man every womens nightmare, cocky and chauvinistic finally gets what comming to him when he beggins to hear what women are thinking.
mel gibsons performance is fantastic and manages to get you to hate him at the beginging and then fall in love with him by the end! Mel Gibson is what women want, and Helen Hunt is what women want to be!
With fantastic comedy performances from marisa tomei and a camio by miss bett lynch this romantic comedy is a girls best friend.
nancy Meyers gives the film class and has an underlying layer of the old romantic films

4.0 out of 5 stars A new class of music, 13 April 2005
This review is from: Get Lifted (Audio CD)
wow! didnt realsise that this sort of music was coming back. this album delivers whole heartedly, it adds class to the R&B/hip hop genera. i think it has similarities with babyface and stevie wonder, but with featured performances by the likes of kanye west and snoop dog keeps the music rooted in contemporary music.
Buy it, and love it

5.0 out of 5 stars You wont see it coming, 24 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Pay It Forward [DVD] [2000] (DVD)
What a brilliant concept. Trevor (Haley Joel Osment)’s first day of school, and he is asked by his new teacher (Spacey) to find a way of helping and changing the world. He takes it too seriously, and devises ‘Pay it Forward’.
He mother is an alcoholic (Helen Hunt), and his father (Bon Jovi) has left them. His life is pretty unfair, and he has to grow up too fast in order to help his mother combat her problem with drink. Throughout the story, Trevor puts his ‘Pay it Forward’ concept to test. He helps three people, and those three people, instead of paying it back, pay it forward, and help another three people. The question is, does it really work, and will it help people? Trevor has got his heart set on it. great performances from Spacey, Hunt and Osment, if you are a fan of one of these then you must watch.
This film takes us on a roller-coaster ride, but will it finish on a high or on a low? Watch it and find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just watch the film, 24 Aug. 2003
Expect the unexpected. That’s what this film is all about.
Terrific performances from Gabryl Bryne and Kevin Spacey, (which earned him an Oscar).
The plot is five men, all criminals, all do one last job, but who is this last job for? Themselves, a man called Kyser Soze or the Devil himself? As Verbal Kimt says, "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing people he didn’t exist."
I cannot tell you much more, for fear of ruining the film. All I can say is that everyone in the world should watch this film.
It keeps you on the edge of your seat, its full of twists, and you will witness some of the best acting seen for years. This is a humongous 5 stars

The American President [DVD] [1995]

4.0 out of 5 stars What romance should be about, 24 Aug. 2003
Andrew Shepard (Douglas) is the president of the United States. Coming up to the election he meets one of the press (Annette Bening), who is actually trying to beet him on the votes poll. The whole story is based on the romance between the two lead characters and how this can effect their lives, the strains of being the Presidents girlfriend and how it can effect the votes in the election. It sounds like one of those soppy love storys, which you've seen before and have now lost interest in. That's what it is, and if it wasn't for the great casting of Michael Douglas, Michael J Fox and Martin Sheen, the film would probably be a disaster, which most people would only watch when it is played on the T.V when there is nothing else on. But the truth is, if you are one of those soppy girls who watch romantic films on her own with the champers and the ice cream then this is a film for you. A film everyone should have, for those times when you need cheering up! I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure class, 15 May 2003
This review is from: Ransom [DVD] [1997] (DVD)
Inevitably a butt clenching movie which aims, and succeeds in causing your stomach to turn, your heart to race and your eyes to glue themselves to the screen.
The storey of Tom (Gibson) and his wife(Russo) is of a terrifying ordeal. Their nine year old son has been kidnapped, and in return for their son, Gibson and Russo, will have to pay a ransom of $2,000,000. Will they pay up? Clearly they love their son. This is truly a harrowing story of bravery and madness.
Full of action, heart breaking acting and one of the most enduring scenes of emotion I have witnessed for some time.
I strongly recommend this film. Its well directed, well acted and has a great plot. What else do you need? *****

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing film, thats all you can say!!, 9 May 2003
I know that when you look at the star rating, you usually think that if someone has put it in as a 5, they are completely bias or mad. But to be completelly honest, i could not find fault with this movie.
David Gale (Kevin Spacey)is a well-respected college lecturer at the Texas University. As well as teaching he is the state’s leading death penalties abolitionist. Gale is found guilty of his best friend and fellow activist’s murder, and is put on death row.
With only four days till Gales due execution, he agrees to an interview with Bitsey Bloom (Winslet) an investigative reporter. Throughout the interview Ms Bloom begins to believe that Gale is innocent, but can she prove it?
The life of David Gale is one of those films which makes you re-think about the whole concept of life, fate and how something small can grow, creating larger re-procusions.
Spacey is fantastic on this film, (although it is hard to find fault with any of his performances (I occationally find myself fishing for mistakes, but have not found one)), giving dramatic emotion which guides you to seek the truth.
This film is a drama, a thriller and most importantly full of the twists we love. I strongly recommend this fantastic Alan Parker film.

4.0 out of 5 stars hmm..., 27 Mar. 2003
This is one of the strangest movies I have ever encountered. I dont think it is an appealing film for people just wanting a relaxing night in to watch a good story.
This film is different. It isnt about telling a story. Its about acting.
At times I must admit, even as a devoted Downey fan, I was curious as to where the plot was going. The whole movie is filmed in one flat, which is basically one room. The script is vague, and I think the majority of the speach is improvised. Although these factors may frighten some away, they are in fact, what makes this film so good.
The acting is fantastic, and because it is a low budget film, with no bombs going off in the background, or car chases, it lets the audience get drawn in, and concentrate purley on what is being said.
Thats it really. But in conclusion, if you are a fan of the three actors, aspecially Robert Downey Jr, this is a film for you. Overflowing with rich, pure talent, it entices you and if you let it, can at times make you feel like you are watching the action from the other side of the studio.
