The Twelve Kingdoms: The Mark of the Tala
The Twelve Kingdoms: The Mark of the Tala
Price: £6.71

2.0 out of 5 stars Won't be buying the second one.., 17 Jan. 2016

There are some aspects of this book that are interesting, however the character development isn't great with main ones feeling more than a bit 2 dimensional. Some of the language is hysterical, the description of the wedding night sex made me laugh out loud, I mean "he dipped those clever fingers into my weeping woman’s core "?????? That said I may have been tempted to get the next book if it was far far cheaper, but it isn't... so I won't

As an adult book it's horrible, probably great if you're 11. I really wish books were better described on kindle, my own fault for not downloading a sample first.

Was quite surprised by this , a different approach to magic , family and dealing with life. An enjoyable read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Teen love story, 28 Nov. 2015

Was expecting something a little more interesting as the previous book was. This is a teen story that reads like a Jackie magazine (if you're old enough to remember it! ) probably ok if you're 14, unfortunately I'm not!

2.0 out of 5 stars Bit of a shame, 5 May 2015

Lots of people seem to like this author and we all like different aspects of writing however it doesn't work for me. The premise isn't bad and there was potential for a good story, unfortunately it reads like a series of remote happenings, the language is really flat, the characters are fairly one dimensional and you struggle to care about what happens.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait, 29 April 2015

Thoroughly enjoyable end to this series, I struggled with book 2 when it came out as I didn't feel the story moved on enough but I read this, then went back and read all 3 and they work really well as a whole. Great concept, strong characters, good story. I really enjoy this author and this last series is the strongest she has written.

As ever a good read, predictable but very enjoyable romance, with good characters that are well drawn. Will read the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising, 31 Mar. 2015

Very readable, a new take on an old story and one that works really well. A shame the author didn't have the confidence to develop this further as there is great potential in it. I enjoyed it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible!!!, 15 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Awful! Where to start.... Heroine who is supposed to be a strong independent woman, she actually spends the entire book being carried around like a doll, portraying her strong independence by screaming, swearing and running away. Supposedly bright, yet chooses to organise an in the woods water pistol fight at a time when someone is stalking her with a view to savagely kill her. Supposedly caring, but everyone still manages to have a lovely time at the ball right after the discovery of a brutal murder of a pregnant woman.. this story was as dysfunctional as it's main characters and truly awful
