1.0 out of 5 stars As others have said, the bugs get stuck!, 26 Dec. 2014
This review is from: HEXBUG nano V2 Hurricane (Toy)
Our children have other Nano Hexbug toys which they enjoy, and so, unfortunately we bought this without reading the reviews on here - please don't make the same mistake!

Others have mentioned that the bugs get stuck in the tubes after a while. Well, they were lucky - our bugs got stuck from the offset!

We tried 4 different bugs, and all of them could not make it around the track without getting stuck. We put them all in at the same time, and within approximately 20 seconds, they were all stuck in a tube somewhere. This is despite the track being assembled correctly.

The only way to free the trapped bugs is to tap the track or in some cases dismantle a section and shake the bug out. In short, not much fun at all.

There are definitely better toys to spend your money on. One to avoid, I'm afraid.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last - a deserving Blu-ray release!, 1 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The image quality is fantastic, the restoration is outstanding and the sound quality (DTS HD) is faultless throughout.

There are some nice extra features, including retrospective interviews, trailers and so on.

A worthy addition to any sci-fi movie fan's collection.

If you want to add items to your wired network, then this Ethernet switch will do the job.

Simply plug your cables into it, and switch it on - and it's up and running.

The unit itself is compact and attractive. There's a power switch on the lead for the power supply which means you can easily switch it off without pulling the plug from the mains socket or pulling the lead from the back of the switch.

High quality at a great price. Highly recommended.

Price: £68.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful to look at and use., 1 Feb. 2014

We bought this set to replace an old and inadequate set that we've had since before the pyramids were built.

They are perfectly weighted and extremely sharp.

The block used to store them is attractive and sturdy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Usual high quality from Brabantia, but..., 1 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
We chose to buy several Brabantia products for our kitchen, including this one.

The quality is high, as you would expect - however, it seems that Brabantia do not box these up after production - meaning that the one we ordered from Amazon was scratched. A replacement was requested and that too, was scratched.

Brabantia, please sort out some packaging!

Turtle Beach Wireless Headset Ear Force X41 (Xbox 360)
Turtle Beach Wireless Headset Ear Force X41 (Xbox 360)

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing performance, not worth the money, 16 Jan. 2011
I purchased a set of X41s so that I could enjoy gaming late at night without disturbing members of my family.

Firstly, the good points.

The headphones are very light and comfortable, and the microphone attaches and detaches easily. The wireless transmitter is equipped with an optical output, so you can connect your standard surround system.

Online speech is very clear, and the level can be adjusted independently from the other sounds.

Now, the bad points.

(1) Overall sound quality. The claims by Turtle Beach that these sets produce 'CD quality sound' are not only misleading, they are way off the mark. The low-level hiss as mentioned by other reviewers is there, and according to Turtle beach's customer support 'is apparent with all wireless devices'. What happened to the 'CD quality', guys?

(2) Intermittent pops and crackles. Despite their being no other wireless devices in my home (really!), the sound was subject to frequent pops and crackles (no 'snaps', breakfast cereal lovers). Some of these were, quite frankly deafening. Again, according to Turtle Beach customer support 'an unavoidable effect when using wireless technology'.

(3) Frequency response. The bass (even with the 'bass effect' turned on) is well, WELL below par. The result of poor low frequency performance is a mash of sound that comes across as tinny when compared to your speaker system.

(4) Surround effect. Before purchase, I wondered just how these headphones could replicate 5.1 surround with only 2 speakers (one for each ear). I needn't have wondered, the answer is, in my opinion, they can't. Sure, there is a spatial effect added which gives the impression of more speakers, but it's impossible to tell if a sound is 'in front' of or 'behind' the listener. One good way to test this is to close your eyes while playing a game, and spin your character around on the spot - sure, you can hear the sounds moving 'around' you, but it's totally, and I mean COMPLETELY impossible to tell what is in front and what is behind.

In addition to the optical output on the wireless transmitter, Turtle Beach have also rather cleverly added a headphone jack so that a friend can also enjoy 'surround sound' while you play your game.

I tried this with a pair of £10 Sony headphones and was horrified that they sound they produced was infinitely better than the wireless pair provided with the set.

That fact, and the points 1-4 above, got me wondering what exactly was the point, if all of this failed to work as advertised. I really fail to see how Turtle Beach can justify their pricing.

Stick with a wired pair, and save your money.

Malta (New EU Countries & Citizens)
Malta (New EU Countries & Citizens)
by Amanda Aizpuricte
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £11.99

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent introduction to Malta, but..., 29 Oct. 2009
I bought this book to teach my young children (aged 1 and 2) about Malta.

Of course, it's aimed at secondary school children (I think).

The book has a wealth of information about the Maltese islands, it's very well illustrated with photographs showing many aspects of Maltese life - History, Education, Cuisine, Economy etc, etc.

Even for adults interested in the country, it makes a good read, and at only 48 pages, is very accessible.

My negative comment concerns the map of the islands on the inside cover of the book on which I counted no less than 5 spelling mistakes.

The mistakes relate to place names in Malta and Gozo - Oala (Qala), Marva (Marfa), Bisqra (Biskra), Miellieha Bay (Mellieha Bay) and Orendi (Qrendi). Rather unforgivable!

A lovely book, it's just a pity they couldn't get the map right - hence the 3 star rating from me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good quality cable, but no seperate audio/composite, 5 Jun. 2008
This Logic 3 product is a good quality cable providing a very nice RGB picture, however, please note, it does NOT have a 'composite run off block' as mentioned by a previous reviewer.

I bought this item because I thought it had the block - moral: Don't always believe what you read on the internet!
