5.0 out of 5 stars Good price and no need to pay for top brand ..., 6 April 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have the Panasonic UB900 4k UHD Blu-ray player and the LG EF950V 4k TV. Whilst the player came with a lead it was too short and white - so not suitable for my wallmount. I tried a cable from another supplier but it didnt support the full output of 4k at 60hz with 4:4:4 chroma. This 5m lead does. Its a confusing market of HDMI standards 1.4 leads which profess 4k 3D etc dont cut it, the lead also needs to support the 18gb ethernet. Good price and no need to pay for top brand so long as the spec is correct!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great selection of Jazzy Hip Hop, 20 Jan. 2011
I'm not sure where I picked up this compilation, I think it was free on the counter at Picadilly Records. However, it I put it on one day to find to my delight a selection a quality underground hip hop, laden with moulted jazz. This is worth of buying!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the alternatives that year, 8 Mar. 2009
We Own The Night (WOTN) is stylishly shot in fact it would remind of the kind of cinematography that Ridley Scott would/could have used, which sadly was lacking in Ridleys American Gangster. Also in America gangster we see some cliche characters, the burnt out cop as seen in so many US cop movies. In WOTN the cliche is ripped up, when a cop gets shot he feels it and loses his nerve, unlike other moviews where he would bounce back after a simple bandage and take out all the bad guys.

WOTN is also better than the over-rated Departed. Scorsese should have won the Oscar for Raging Bull, King of Comedy or Taxi Driver, but giving it for this rip-off movie (see the original infernal affairs instead) is a clear token gesture. The performance from WOTN are in my mind better than Departed.

Sandisk 4GB Sansa Clip MP3 Player with Radio - Silver
Sandisk 4GB Sansa Clip MP3 Player with Radio - Silver

5.0 out of 5 stars Sansa clip rocks, 22 Feb. 2009
A fantastic little mp3. What makes it great is:

1. Price - compared to competitors like apple's shuffle or creative zen stone it is much cheaper. That's because Sandisk make their own memory chips - in fact they are one of the leading makers and their memory devices are the fastest on the market.

2. Audio performance is superb on two counts, a. it can power my sennheised HD-590 headphones, these are basically the big type of hi-fi headphones that cover your ears. The output from any music player needs to be high to make these headphones sound good and in some cases you need a headphone amp, but with the sansa you can take it to the top with no distortion and its plenty loud! b. it also comes with a customisable graphic equaliser so you you can set the sound to your preference, which is really needed with MP3 files or some tape transfers as roling off the treble helps to get rid of the hiss.

3. FM Radio, I've had personal radio previosly and not been impressed but this gives good stereo reception. You set it to scan and it will go of and preset the stations, which are stored using the freq as the name. Only gripe here is that you cannot rename the stations, to something like radio 1 (but then most peeps know the freq of their fav stations anyway) and nor be able to store the presets for different areas of the country.

4. This will also do voice recording (wav) and record from the radio too.

5. The screen is a nice crisp OLED one, which seems to disappear when it turns off - just leaves a nice mirror finish - check your make up girls, or check that person behind you lol

6. Upgradeable firmware means that Sandisk are always improving the sansa, through this method they have been able to make the device support ogg vorbis and flac files!

7. The actual unit is no bigger than a small matchbox, but yet still has good readable screen, unlike the creative zen stone which has a really small screen and the Ipod Shuffle has no screen whatsoever! The unit has nice size buttons which means though its very small its still useable.

8. The capacity of 4gb, is plenty of music, for me about a week or so. With this much capacity it really makes using a big ipod redundant, as you can quickly drag and drop what you want to listen for the day or week. My music collection is growing at a faster rate than I can listen to, so no iPod is going to be able to store all my music anyway. What then happen if you loose your Ipod - your double bummed for loosing such an expensive device and all your music is gone, which is not easily replaceable! The sansa will only store a copy of your music from your laptop, so you don't loose anything and the cost of one is so cheap that if you do loose your sansa its no big deal.

Overall it has the wow factor! Everyone who has seen it has found the device amazing as its so small yet so usable and looks fantastic.

One note of warning and this applies to all MP3 players, they all use something called ID3 tags, stored int he mp3 file, which is used to navigate artists, albums etc. Make sure these are properly filled out with artist, album and genre names. If you do then navigation of the files is much easier. If not, you get files spread out like in 'various' folders etc. This is not the fault of any device, they can only go by what you give it - garbage in, garbage out!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor sound quality, 14 Sept. 2008
I'm finding too much hiss - whether i use it with car radio or ones at home. I was not impressed and I'm now thinking of going back to using one of those ugly tape adapter things - at least they do sound good.

3.0 out of 5 stars A MEDIUM size Hard Disk Case, 14 Sept. 2008
The western digital size passport/mybook drives are too small for this case, however they can be held within due to the elastic strp holding it snug. The case opens up in two one side for the drive and the other for cables or other stuff you'd like to keep. I prefer to keep the included cable with the passport drive which also helps to stop the small drive moving around. On the other side I keep a longer double headed lindy cable (used for older machines where one usb slot is not enough power, so two slots are required) this stops the drive moving the vertically and not put a strain on the strap.

The outer material is a tough protective shell which has a woven feel, to enusre you can keep a grip. Though I would have expected interally for it to be lined with a softer material like high density foam to absorb any knocks, but this was not the case.

At the moment I don't see an alternative product, I'm quite suprised that Case Logic (who make some of the best cases around) haven't got round to improving the product.

Akasa AK-NBC-01B Notebook cooler Black
Akasa AK-NBC-01B Notebook cooler Black

4.0 out of 5 stars This does work!, 6 April 2008
I have a Sony PCG-K315Z laptop with a Pentium 4 3.06ghz processor - ie one of the hottest running processors you can find in a home computer. I have the Fan Speed program running before the cooler was on and it reported temp of 67C for HD and 80C for Temp 1 (CPU i think). These are the temps when only surfing the net!

I have had the laptop with cooler running for an hour and temp has stabilised to 42C for HD (a drop of 25C!) and Temp 1 is at 72-74C. Physically the laptop is much cooler, where as before it was getting to temperatures that my nuts were going to fry. I'm also using the box it came in to rest the cooler on, rather than my lap to ensure it has enough air underneath. Anecdotally the laptop seems to be running faster, the high temp usually throttles the processor speed, but I don't think this is happening any more - the YouTube video are now certainly playing back without stutter - which was getting very noisy.

Like many others have said the 15.4 is a tad small for most machines of that size (the only reason I dropped this a star). So I might return it and get the 17" and hopefully that might align the cooling fan with the laptop vent better.
