Xxx Powertools High Power 52Cc Petrol Strimmer Brush Cutter Grass Trimmer Garden Lawn Bull Bar Power Source:- Petrol

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a bit of a brute!, 10 Jun. 2016

This strimmer is not a lightweight, all tubular parts are steel, but on the other hand they will probably be hard to break. In the past I've struggled to start brand named strimmers and I expect the people who stole them are still struggling with them. I bought this strimmer after buying an amazing xxx chain saw which is the easiest starting piece of garden equipment I've ever tried. Sadly this tool does not have the same easy start engine as the chain saw but it did start fairly easily both from hot and cold. It is quite powerful if a little awkward to set up. Remember when balancing it around the hanging tab to allow for the weight of fuel as it has a big fuel tank (which allows you to keep strimming till your finders go numb on one tank full).

There are a couple of little niggles with mine, firstly where the lower strimmer shaft enters the clamp it tends to rotate during use no matter how much I tighten it. The head does not come apart to reload quite as per the instructions and it is rather fiddly so you are much better unscrewing the head (remember it's a left hand thread) and loading new line on the bench if you don't want to risk loosing the spring and washers. The head twists apart after you push in and release the single locking tag.

I might have given it 4 stars if it had been more expensive but at this price it is great value. Mine even came with 2 brush cutting blades.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a surprise!, 8 May 2016

What a surprise! This saw is astonishing. I ordered a cheap different brand 24" saw from another supplier which turned out to be a 21" when it arrived. It worked ok so I hung on to it though it was a brute to start. This week I had a couple of 70' limes to cut down so decided I needed a real 24" saw. Stihl want the best part of a grand for a similar saw so I decided to give this a go spurred on by (but slightly scepticalof) the reports of easy starting. I owned a big stihl once till somebody broke into my shed, starting that was often a pain and I'm older now!
Assembly was simple and I didn't need the instructions, the chain tensioner is simple, a bit delicate looking but effective. I filled it with 2 stroke, followed the starting instructions and it started with no effort at all!! A 9 year old could probably start it, I've never had any petrol garden machinery so easy to start, even easier than my honda tools. I had to re-tension the chain a couple times after revving it a bit and trying it on a few small branches which I feared didn't bode well. HOWEVER:
This saw came with 2 unbranded chains so I expected to need to replace them with Oregon at an early stage or do a lot of sharpening. How wrong could I have been. The first lime had a 30" diameter trunk but the saw managed to cut through it with little difficulty. Amazingly after cutting up the fallen tree and all it's branches into a huge pile of manageable sized pieces the first unbranded chain was still pretty sharp though I had tightened it a couple of times. The next morning, mostly out of a sense of duty I sharpened it (with a dremmel attachment as it seemed quite hard to file) before starting on the second tree. Again, it was a dream to start and again by the end the chain didn't really need sharpening. I would go so far as to say this chain is better than Oregon. If I could find a supplier I would replace the chains on my other 2 saws with this stuff.
The instructions recommend car engine oil but I used morrisons vegetable (rape seed) cooking oil at about £1 per litre for the chain oil.
About the only slightly negative thing about it is the exposed silencer exhaust at the front which I carelessly burnt my finger on when filling it, though there is a warning notice telling you it's there. On balance if it proves reliable and durable it would be cheap at twice the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seems bright and reliable, 7 May 2016

Bought a 50W version to replace a 300W halogen with PIR which was costing a lot to run (both in electricity and bulbs) because I installed a cat flap under it so it switches on as the cats come and go.. Just like halogen floods the brackets are a bit fiddly and you might need a washer or 2 but you expect this when fitting floods. Because I was unsure about reliability I left the old flood in place and mounted this above it, simply took the bulb out of the old one and wired this one to the PIR in the old one. The beam angle is quite a bit wider than you get with standard halogen flood so the brightness at any particular spot it slightly less but the area illuminated is wider. So far, after several months, it has worked very well and I'm very pleased with it. In fact I've just ordered another to mount on my garage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the originals, 4 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When I bought my Hitachi drill driver pair with 2 batteries I was disappointed to find the self discharge rate of the Hitachi batteries made them go flat in a few weeks. When one of then started only holding about 10% charge and loosing this in 2 days I bought this battery as a replacement.
These batteries are far better than the originals, they seem to hold charge for months and they seem to be able to do more work before a recharge than the Hitachi ones did when they were new. I will be buying another one later this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars does what it says on the box, 23 Nov. 2015

I bought this as a replacement for a 350W unit which had been having stability issues since A couple of mains surges. It arrived quickly, went straight in the rather confined space with all mounting holes lining up. Worked perfectly and has 24/7 since I bought it though after reading the last review I might just peep inside the case when I get a minute

eSkde HT60-S Petrol Hedge Trimmer 60cm Double Sided Blade with Safety Kit
eSkde HT60-S Petrol Hedge Trimmer 60cm Double Sided Blade with Safety Kit

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a medium sized plot, fantastic customer service., 29 Sept. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first one arrived very quickly, it worked but not very well, the clutch slipped and after 5 minutes even the thinnest twigs stalled the blades.
I complained and I can honestly say I've never had better or more polite customer service. The next day a van arrived with a replacement which worked much better. So why only 4 stars? For the last 25 years I've had a 3.5 acre garden and used a range of petrol hedge trimmers, the last one was taken by visiting scrap thieves early in the morning so I didn't feel inclined to give them another expensive trimmer and thought I'd give this one a go. It is fantastic value for money and it's very quiet - you probably don't really need the ear defenders, but it is rather gentle, a Still or Husquavana it is not, but then it's not their price either. The cutting blades move quite slowly compared with more expensive tools, the power to price ratio is much better than the power to weight ratio. It feels quite bulky too but if you had say a semi on a corner plot it would be perfect for you. I've had it for a few months now and it still works as it did out of the box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't loose the instructions and all will be well, 29 Sept. 2015

Easy to read, not impossible to program / operate but not intuitive. I hope I never loose the single sheet instructions. In fairness I knew from the reviews etc it might be like this but the price is good and once set up it seems to work well so given my time again I would still buy it. I just need to find a safe place for those instructions.....

5.0 out of 5 stars As easy as any to fit and very flexible., 28 Sept. 2015

I've fitted a few different styles of these including the original Magnaclean, Screwfix copy and other alternatives and I'd say this is as good as any and neater than most. It didn't leak first time which is always a bonus. I've not cleaned it out yet so it's efficacy and ease of servicing remain to be tested.

3.0 out of 5 stars good value for the price, 18 Jun. 2015

Originally this was marketed as a longer saw but when it arrived it was supplied with a 21" blade. When I complained they said they would change the listing! I decided to keep it as it was still great value for money. It is a cheap saw but it is cheap, that said it pretty well does the job though it can be a real brute to start, particularly if it had not been run for a couple of months. I've used mine quite a bit in the several months I've owned it though I've had to reassemble the pull cord mechanism and the on/off switch fell to pieces so I had to fit another (any toggle switch will do).
Good value cheap saw if you are handy with DIY but probably worth paying a bit more for something like an XXXpower tools which is easier to start if you have a lot of sawing to do.
