Russell Hobbs Allure Salt and Pepper Grinder 18277

3.0 out of 5 stars temperamental, 24 April 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
this is moody you have to use it in just the right way for it to work. switching grinders from salt to pepper or vice versa is very hit and miss. it looks fantastic/the styling is perfect but you have to have a fully working product. the activation button is too small for my fingers and my fingers are not small it isnt useless and you can find a technique to use it but it very nearly is more hinderance than help it might be that im using rechargable batteries but it is 2012

4.0 out of 5 stars same old kaspersky, 24 April 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
this product has barely changed over 4 yrs. im not saying this is a bad thing as it remains very efficient on pc resources although i would say the web interface has improved the gui has been updated but if youve had it before the settings transfer the one persistant problem it has is scanning compressed esp dot rar files it always gets to 99% and then cops out overall i would recommend it

4.0 out of 5 stars Thorough but deceleratory, 5 May 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I like BitDefender. I'm comfortable with it's style and happy with the GUI which you can set according to how nerdy you are (basic, intermediate, advanced) allowing you to do more fiddling with the settings the more advanced a user you are.

It is packed with useful features such as cookie control and script control. It also has a site advisor which places a handy green tick in front of your search results if it deems the site safe. However, it has produced a couple of apparently fasle negatives. There is the ubiquitous parental control, of which I have no use. Naturally there are the standard features: anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall. I should mention the BD picked up on a few thnigs that Kaspersky missed, notably a trojan. As with all anti-viruses there is the occasional heuristic false positive, but that's no different whichever software you use.

The one big problem I have with this is it's anti-spam engine. It's fine when you are dealing with emails, however I have Thunderbird set up as an RRS reader as well as an email client and when it comes to processing these feeds it seriously slows down the deletion process making it painful. I have survived without an anti-spam device for some time and, quite frankly they're not of a lot of benefit. I can spot spam just as easily without the need of some plug-in telling me it is spam. I do not with to buy viagara and I have not won the Nigerian lottery. It is easily disabled and none of the other processes slow anything down too badly.

Before I forget there is my old friend the "Scan Activity Bar" a handy little box which lets you know how active your PC is internally and how much net activity there is. I like it.

Games mode is a little worrying. When you play a game it enters this ultra-permissive mode. However if you are playing a game, you're not surfing or attempting to download potentially infected files.

All in all I like BitDefender. However, if you use RSS feeds you might wish to disable the anti-spam plugin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job rather well, 3 May 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I was expecting this to be a very functional review - "it holds paper", which it does. However, this has actually been thought about and designed. It does more than just hold a document: it is possible to adjust the document upwards so you can read text with a narrow bottom margin, it was able to hold a bundle of a4 documents in polythene wallets (which are very floppy), which was bent inwards at one corner, without it flopping down and it is weigted with some kind of particulate so it is very unlikely to topple over.

In addition, due to the particulate weighting matter, it can be used as an ad hoc maraca, should you desire.

If you need to refer to documents at a computer, or as in my case to refer to maps/hints/cheats at the pc or playstation or indeed any other application where it is useful to have something you wish to refer to in the vertical plane, this will indeed do the job; it is hardly expensive and is well-thought through.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and useful, 22 Feb. 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Takes a while to get used to and is somewhat antintuitive. Howvwer once you get used to it it's a cracker doing a great job as a small mp3 player. Has all the features you would expect and good sound quality.
