4.0 out of 5 stars Review Criticisms Valid, but wonderful sound, 29 Jan. 2013

The remarks made by others about the shortcomings of this product are understandable, especially the limitations of the remote: however the superb sound more than compensates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Show Biz Biog For Ages, 8 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Amidst all the shallow comedy biogs that emerge at this time of year, Danny's story stands head and shoulders above anything published in the last five years. An easy read, and several laugh out loud moments. (Apologies to customers of Lloyds Bar Chichester). Inevitably it will be read initially by Danny's fan base, but on the strength of his prose it deserves a much wider audience. Interesting timing by BBC Radio London "pin heads" to sack him the week this superb book is published!

1.0 out of 5 stars Shades of Pure Rubbish, 10 May 2012
I can't say this is the worst book ever published because a) I haven't read all books ever published, b) I only managed one third of this book.

However I must advise if you want erotica there are a million and one web sites to satisfy you, or if you want romance may I suggest you try your nearest charity shop for a choice of Mills and Boon and suchlike, all for a few pence, which at least will go to a good cause.

This truly is a terrible book about an unlikely heroine (in her 20's and never pleasured herself!?) and an inadequate hero who doesn't even know how to make tea properly.

Although this is no "What's Going On" (what is?!!!!!) it's an interesting album. Also worth reading up on the background to how and why this album got made.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disapointing Compilation, 25 May 2008

From someone who I thought was perfect comes a far less than perfect compilation of country/folk/pop standards. I heard her version of "Who knows where the time goes" on a recent BBC show Tranatlantic Sessions where I loved the version of the Sandy Denny classic, but was so disapointed with the version on this album.

The producer seems keen to feature the guitar at the expense of all voices and other instruments.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful revelation of the period., 25 May 2008

What a great book. More a social commentary than a sports book, but a real lesson on what can be achieved given the political will - combined with genuine public support. Should be required reading for every member of the IOC and the British Government. Simply serves to highlight the obsenity of the 2012 proposals.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - But some great original songs ommitted., 28 Jan. 2008
Great Movie, and the CD really reflects the film well, giving a real feel of "being there". Not a fan of Johnnie Depp until now - but he's wonderful in this and the feel for the piece that he gives in his vocals is superb.

My only gripe is that to give the unique feel to the film, much of Sondheim's original score has been edited out. Still wonderful - and will give Sondheim a whole new audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars She's 63 and better than ever!, 13 Jan. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a wonderful DVD. Filmed in 2006 and 2007 on her initmate "Welcome to my living room" tour. Carole, ably assisted by Rudy Guess and Gary Burr (names new to me, but incredibly talented) runs through her 40 years of songwrting. She closes the first set with a medley of songs she co-wrote in the 50's and 60's for a host of other singers, and shows just how influential she has been.

One minor grumble, nothing from her 2001 album "Love makes the world go round" - one of the best albums of all time. But with such a range of songs to choose from, inevitably some have to be left out.

A great DVD from a great artist, and one that I will be playing for many years to come.
