5.0 out of 5 stars Useful in the car., 24 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Have purchased a new car sans CD player but with a USB stick input to an impressive audio/'infotainment' system I found a great use for this adapter. With the price of SD cards so low I can load specific themes from my collection on to extremely affordable media which takes up minimal space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bottom of the Braun range but effective.nonetheless., 24 Dec. 2015

Having bought a Braun 32D electric razor some two years ago for normal once daily shaving I was encouraged to find that I only needed to replace the shaving head after two years. For those new to this Braun device I should point out that for my beard/skin type (light/thin) the lighter the razor pressure the closer the shave.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine service for jazz lovers on fast broad-band., 24 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Spotify Music (App)
After some 70 years of record collecting (every conceivable format) I've finally realized that my particular "bag" (modern jazz) is so well covered by this streaming service that my next step is to engineer a Bluetooth link from my computer to my hi-fi and release my long suffering wife from dusting piles of 45's, LP's, cassette tapes, CD's and mini-CD's. I started with the "free" (advert-carrying) service but up-graded to the £4:99/month service after a year. It suits me just fine - except when all my neighbors in the village (not yet on fast broad-band) decide to watch the same film on Netflix or its equivalents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great portrait of a jazz master., 23 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is my second purchase from the current Hal Leonard Series of jazz stalwart biographies. My first was the life of Cannonball Adderley and this is just as good. Mulligan had a strong influence on all areas of post World War Two modern jazz - as a performer/soloist, composer/arranger and band-leader. Indeed he belongs in the same class as Ellington in composition and chart-writing, as Carney/Cuber/Adams and Brignola as a soloist and Miles as a group former/leader. This book does him full justice. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile up-date., 23 Dec. 2015

A splendid up-date of Ned Sherrin's original. This is a great book for "dipping into" i.e. during Commercial TV Ad Breaks. It's also a triumph of indexing (by theme, by author and by context). Strongly recommended for anyone involved with talks. speech-writing or lecturing.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I've got 7 grandchildren to assist me., 20 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
You know you are getting old when after struggling to understand how Facebook works and buying/reading this book one has to call in one of my grandchildren (it doesn't matter how old, 7 - 14 will do!) to help out. The book is fine it's that many aspects of today's software are not intuitive to the "over-80's" and I find that there are subtle differences between screen descriptions in the text and the version on my monitor. Thank goodness the book has a good index.

4.0 out of 5 stars tycoons/tax dodgers and scroungers are all much too much 'black and white' or in fact 'right-wing bad and left-wing good', 3 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Whilst this essay is essentially an extremely left-wing view of the UK just before the 2015 General Election it is a fascinating insight into how socialist concepts and ideology can, with considerable writing flair, distort reality. Owen Jones, a well qualified social historian, is unfortunately not so well qualified in economics - his views of think tanks (creators and curators), politicians, the media, the police, tycoons/tax dodgers and scroungers are all much too much 'black and white' or in fact 'right-wing bad and left-wing good'. The economic truths of wealth creation which underpin just about everything in the UK are severely understated. Nevertheless there is much to be learned from Owen's illumination of how the 'old Labour' (currently on the up???) think.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does just what it says on the cover., 3 Nov. 2015
This 248-page paperback does exactly what it says on the cover. Crammed full of practical hints and tips, arranged in an entirely logical order and delivered with an appropriate sense of urgency. Robin has distilled a great deal of his real-world experience into the text which will guide new on-line start-ups away from the major mistakes I personally encounter everyday when browsing.
I would have liked to see a little more emphasis on product/service differentiation (to impress would-be investors and to counter competition) but all in all this is a well produced and valuable addition to any home or e-commerce business library.

A much matured Bill B is a bit grumpier and a bit funnier but, as usual, gives incredible value for money. Superb.
