Ladies 6 Pair SockShop Comfort Cuff Bamboo Socks - Grey 4-8
Offered by SockShop
Price: £13.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Really comfortable, soft, seamless, thin socks., 19 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent socks, really soft and comfortable, no intrusive seams, beautiful. The only reason they don't get five stars is: they wear out a bit sooner than would be ideal due to their thinness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute yet gutsy - a great fan heater, 17 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I really like this little heater. It is surprisingly small, yet puts out a hefty 1800W of heat. It feels and sounds like a quality product. The sound is fairly quiet and smooth (unlike some cheap ones which sound like they are going to fail!). Can't fault it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good fan heater, seems like quality, sounds good., 10 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very good fan heater. Gives the impression it will last. For example, the fan sounds smooth and fairly quiet, as though it has proper bearings. I hate the way cheap fan heaters sound annoying - this one sounds "quietly confident"!
The heater is nicely made, fairly small, with two heat settings (1800 watt and 1100 watt). The controls are simple: one dial for off/low/high, one dial for the simple thermostat.
There is one slight downside: the lowest thermostat setting seems to be approximately 15 degrees Celsius. If you want to use this heater to keep a greenhouse frost-free, you will need to use a separate thermostat that can be set to a lower temperature. Apart from that, this fan heater seems great. If you want a high quality, no-nonsense fan heater - and are prepared to pay a premium for it - I recommend this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well if you can get it to connect - read on for instructions, 10 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This works well with one of my wifi routers, not at all with the other. I have no idea why. The instructions are a bit Chinese, so here are the instructions which worked for me for one of my wifi routers:
1. Install the efamilycloud app on your phone (for instance, with iPhone, simply search for efamilycloud on the app store).
2. Start the app and register (which is straightforward).
3. You must reset the unit before you do anything with it (plug it in for 10 seconds, unplug it, hold down the button, then plug the unit in while continuously holding down the button, wait 5 seconds, then release the button).
4. The unit should be blinking rapidly with a plain blue light. If you see red and blue lights, or slow blinking, repeat step 3.
5. Use the app to connect the device. If it works, after about 30 seconds you can name the unit. Then you can turn the plug on and off from your phone wherever you are, or set times for it to automatically turn on and off each day - wonderful!
If the connecting won't work, it could be that your neighbour's wifi is stronger than yours. The unit and your phone need to be sensing the same wifi network. So you could try moving the unit if it won't connect. I'll keep playing around to try to get it to work on my other wifi network. But for now, it works well on one of my wifi networks, and it functions really well.
Assuming you can get it to connect, you will be impressed with this smart plug.

Price: £8.49

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but realise this is in German, 6 Sept. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Miró (Hardcover)
This is in German! Doh! The listing does not say that. I think Amazon must have made a stock error, because it is listed on the Amazon UK website with Prime delivery and no mention that this is a book intended for the German market. If you want a Miro book in German, this is quite good for the price, but not amazing. There are better Miro books out there, but they cost more.

E. J. Bellocq: Storyville Portraits
E. J. Bellocq: Storyville Portraits
by Lee Friedlander
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful photographs, but be warned that the first edition is a rather modest little book, 29 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the famous first edition of Belloc's photographs - but be aware it is only a modest little paperback. The revised edition of 1996 is far better - that one is a large hardcover, with more photos, reproduced larger and in higher quality (it is a square format with the woman in striped stockings on the cover, whereas the first edition has a red cover). Both editions are expensive, and if you can have only one, I recommend the large 1996 version, not the little red version.

Bellocq: Photographs From Storyville,The Red-Light District of New Orleans: New Orleans Photographs
by E J Bellocq
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars By far the best book on Bellocq, 29 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is THE book on Bellocq. The first edition is a small paperback, whereas this second edition is really a whole new book, a much larger hardcover version with more photos, reproduced larger and in higher quality. Unfortunately both books are expensive now, but if you can have only one, this 1996 edition is the one (the large square format book, with cover showing the woman wearing striped stockings and raising a whisky glass - the small red-covered one is the first edition).

3.0 out of 5 stars This is actually a quilt rather than a duvet, but it's a nice quilt., 24 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is actually a quilt rather than a duvet. It is layers of cotton quilted together to form a quilt in the traditional way. It is a nice quilt. Can it be used as a duvet, i.e. put in a duvet cover? Yes. It is a little heavier and more rigid than a duvet. My wife complains it is too stiff (okay, there is potential for a bawdy joke there, but we are too mature to make it, right?)

If you want a duvet that is quilt-like, you will like this. If you want a normal soft duvet (the sort filled with feathers or hollowfibre) you may not like this.

Storyville, New Orleans, Being an Authentic, Illustrated Account of the Notorious Red-Light District
Storyville, New Orleans, Being an Authentic, Illustrated Account of the Notorious Red-Light District
by Al Rose
Edition: Paperback
Price: £24.50

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent history of this New Orleans district - not light entertainment but densely packed information for the dedicated reader, 3 Aug. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A fascinating book, one of the best on the subject. The author has obviously done a phenomenal amount of research. This book contains information and photographs that are hard to find anywhere else. However, there is a lot of text, and it is quite dense, and not particularly well organised. This makes this book a bit heavy going to read. It's not overly dry and scholarly, yet it feels like it needed an editor to add more headings to break the text up, reorganise the text a bit, generally add a bit of readability, even browsability. The author explains proudly at the beginning of the book that he resisted such offers. Never mind, the content is still excellent, informative and poignant. If you are interested in this specialist subject you must have this book.
