3.0 out of 5 stars Gossip and chit-chat in letters to her sister., 8 Mar. 2014
Funny in parts; but definitely not the comic genius, funniest author of the publicity blurb. It is entertaining at times but it was a constant struggle to maintain interest in Sam and Will’s antics or in the gossip and mundane chit-chat.

Killing Hope (Gabe Quinn Thriller Series Book 1)
Price: £3.49

4.0 out of 5 stars A compulsive read., 7 Mar. 2014

Gabe Quinn is a likeable if somewhat unorthodox detective in this thriller however there are too many killings and an unholy twist; still a compulsive read.

The Book Thief
Price: £4.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and emotional, 27 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Book Thief (Kindle Edition)
A most unusual way of narrating a book, Death stalking every page; although it is certain that those who were persecuted did have Death as their neighbour, however it is an unnerving vehicle the author uses . Having said that I give it 5 stars as the story he told was very powerful, emotional and capable of reducing the reader to tears.

The Reckoning (Ben Coverdale Series Book 3)
The Reckoning (Ben Coverdale Series Book 3)

3.0 out of 5 stars Romantic twists and invoved criminal plot, 24 Feb. 2014
This is the third of the Ben Coverdale books. Ben's life and romantic interests are entwined with three women, Mary the mother of his child, Alex and their two friends Katie and Georgina. Unfortunately although living in a beautiful part of France they seem unable to escape from Mary's past encounter with Donald. Romantic twists and an involved criminal plot.

A Quiet Belief In Angels
A Quiet Belief In Angels
Price: £5.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A startling, incredible and disturbing story., 24 Feb. 2014

Here is a man with “a quiet belief in angels” a man who is both persistent and intrepid; I found this book hard to put down, a beautifully written book, the prose illuminating and the story startling. Never once was I tempted to skip the long passages so confidently written. The author writes an Incredible and disturbing account of the long, long hunt for a child killer, and in so doing relates the poignant, heart wrenching story of the boy who became that man. Brilliant.

A Drift of Leaves
A Drift of Leaves

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, involved plot., 22 Feb. 2014

This review is from: A Drift of Leaves (Kindle Edition)
This is a very interesting book a murder, mystery, spy intrigue account told from different perspectives, a Russian émigré, an American boy with German ancestry and a cop of Swedish ancestry; in fact a characteristic multicultural American cast. It is an extremely involved plot but very disorganized in its telling; told in three parts which can be quite confusing and if truth be told it wasn’t until I had read a third of the book I understood who and what I had been reading about. Glad I persevered and finished it as I enjoyed the story; it could have been so much more with good editing!

The Outcast Dead: The Dr Ruth Galloway Mysteries 6
The Outcast Dead: The Dr Ruth Galloway Mysteries 6
Price: £4.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, atmospheric and unusual plot, 20 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Outcast Dead is the 6th in the series, a welcome return to an old friend, Ruth a forensic archaeologist. Once again the author gives us a fascinating, atmospheric and unusual plot. This time there is only a little inference to Ruth and Nelson’s ongoing attraction and the spark, palpable in previous books is sadly lacking; however this does not in any way detract from the enjoyment of a captivating read.
