5.0 out of 5 stars Buying cheaper cards is a false economy., 11 July 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I had a cheap SD card in use in my GoPro; the difference here is night and day. The cheap card crashed in almost every use, was slow to upload to my laptop, and lost video constantly. This is rocksolid, and does not make itself known; what more can you ask for?

64GB is enough for more than 60 minutes of 4K video on my GoPro Hero - i.e. the card outlasts the battery in most conditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars A cut above, 11 July 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These are really nicely thought out pens, with a sharp point at one end, and wedge at the other. The Package is solid, and the hinged opening works well. The pens have a solid feel, and nice tactility, and are fluid and vivid in use. There's more to life than Sharpie.

4.0 out of 5 stars seriously robust non stick, 11 July 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I normally treat non-stick with great reverence, washing only with flannels made from the underbelly hair of mountain rabbits, stirring only with aritsanally-polished, round tipped, silicon bakeware, and lovingly storing in airtight foam-lined nooks specially carved to the exact shape of each piece. With this approach, i've found that it is possible to keep non stick surfaces performing well for in excess of a year before there is some inevitable degradation. I've managed to keep Anolon, hard anodised, and Circulon, pans hanging on for almost a decade with this sort of TLC. However, these were free, so I've treated them like absolute dogs, scraping away with angled pig iron, dishwashing harshly, and stacking ruthlessly, metal on metal, to see how they perform. And in truth, they are remarkable. After 2 months of cruel use, still as slick as when new, and at a far better price than the pro-level sets, which in my experience are less resilient in truth.

Why 4 stars then? Well, I find them too light. My wife says its a blessing, which is fair comment, but it does seem to me that the heat distribution is a little patchier than a heavy pan, and the sense of stability when stirring low enough that a two hands approach is needed. The frying pan is too small to be really useful (it might do for a single chap frying a steak in solitude, but is naff all use for a shared breakfast with even a modest companion) The mica spangled, gloss black, exterior is also a matter of taste (not to mine).

4.0 out of 5 stars unisex is stretching it, but the watch is still gorgeous., 3 Jun. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a really elegant watch. I was a little surprised at the cheap boxing, particularly as I have another Mondaine watch which was more refined in packaging. So what? You don't wear the box, and in this case it's reasonable to assert that anything saved on cardboard has been invested into making a very nice watch. The case is light and thin, but has hard enough edges that it retains the unisexuality described. The glass is very scratch resistant so far, and it keeps good time. The metal bracelet has a fine mesh, and conforms nicely to different wrist sizes, and is adjusted easily. However, the quality the metal bracelet, and the clasp, isn't as good as the machining of the face and case. there's nothing wrong with it, but it isn't radically different from something you might expect on a watch costing a fraction of the amount. It is probably also fair to say that in my mind the metal bracelet is much less unisex than the watch face, even in a world of non binary identification, this does feel very much a woman's product. Saying which, the moderately large, thin, face, and fine elegant proportions, are well within the scope of styling out by people of all genders.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect footwear for kids, and unselfconscious adults, 3 Jun. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
What's not to like about crocs? They are lightweight, can slip on and off with ease, or hold fast with the rear strap down, they are rinse clean, pool friendly, fantastic on a campsite, comfy as you like, and in the case of this pair, have a really grippy traction base owing to several rows of rubber teeth on the sole. The blue colour is vibrant also, the computer screen doesn't really do justice to how rich it is. My son's pair are large for the size, but growing room is always welcome.

JAY-BE New Supreme Folding Bed With Memory Foam Mattress And Automatic Folding Legs, Black, Single
JAY-BE New Supreme Folding Bed With Memory Foam Mattress And Automatic Folding Legs, Black, Single
Price: £179.49

4.0 out of 5 stars very comfy, and well made, but still substantial, even when folded., 3 Jun. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a really very comfortable folding bed, with a great mattress; if you have space to tuck it out of the way, and don't mind paying the moderately high cost, then it is a great buy. It takes minor assembly - screw on the wheels and fix the headboard - and then is good to go. The frame is tubular steel, powder coated black, but not flawlessly so. The tubes had a couple of dents and compressions out of the box too. The mattress lies on a mesh netting base, which is fixed into the frame with heavy duty springs, meaning there's a little give to augment the mattress, which is actually quite soft compared to some memory foam. It makes for a very easy lie; almost too luxurious for the occasional use it is likely to see. It folds and unfolds easily, with solid locking mechanisms, and a pair of heavy duty, high rent, plastic clips to keep it together. Folded, it takes up a good amount of space, and isn't attractive. The headboard acts almost like a table top, but don't be fooled into thinking this will look like a console or blend in; the height, and exposed tubing and mesh base are pretty industrial things to have on display. It would probably fit into the back of a wardrobe, or an understairs cupboard, or could be somewhat camouflaged with a slipcover. If this was included, i'd stretch to a 5th star.

4.0 out of 5 stars demon keyboard, bites a bit, 30 April 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This really is a gorgeous bit of kit. It is apparent from the moment the box arrives - it has real heft, reassuring that this thing won't slip around the desk. All of the promise is backed up by a very stylish design, with a slim, but solid, base panel of metal, and the keys raised ominously on mechanical springs. Under power, the keys glow a rich red, but not obtrusively so (this can be adjusted by app, if you care). The branding is minimal, and inoffensive; altogether it looks great on a desk. There is even a set of gaming keys that can be easily switched in and out; these offer raised edges so they can be easily found (in case you're one of those non-touch type types!)

There is a thick, amply long, corded, connection to the computer, through which runs two usb channels, one of which feeds a port on the keyboard for easy charging (if your pc is a not on the desktop, for example) the other being the input for the keyboard. Connection is instant, and stable. The key strokes are positive, slightly noisy, with a positive slick return. Travel is longer than some keyboards, but the give in the stroke is light enough that this feels welcome, and positive in action. I can't claim quick enough reactions to comment whether the speed of response to the keys is actually quicker in use than any other keyboard - but could see how this might feel like the case with enough positive thinking!

Why 4 stars? Well, because the style compromises the use of the keyboard as a typing device slightly. In particular, when combined with the raised keys, the sharp, sleek, edges of the base board, cut into the heels of my hands when I'm typing normally. This almost made me think about getting one of those wrist rests that administrative types seem to use to decorate their workstations - imagine! Some people might have 2 machines, and never actually type words on the one they use for gaming, some might be happy to swap keyboards for different tasks (although I suspect they will probably feel empty when using their "normal" keyboard after this bad boy, the rest of us will be very happy with our G413 as the only keyboard we use, but will have sour wrists to show for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beast, in a friendly package, 30 April 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a storming piece of kit, and absolutely should be enough power for any modestly sized home. What the higher output models have to offer it scares me to imagine. It isn't flawless, for example, despite the claim on the box, there still isn't a neat storage for the hose, and the cable tidy is poorly designed also. However, there are big steps on from the previous model in the function of the adjustable jet, which is now much more tactile, and actually does seem to give usable steps in performance in between full power (strips paint from car panels, be warned!) and the other settings. These are designated with little logos (of a car, for example, on the second setting, which reliably does not strip paint from the car...). The retracting handle is a nice touch too, and really does enhance the storage and portability meaningfully.

the extras are nice as well. The foaming spray dispenser particularly. This can coat a car in (quite a lot) of shampoo in next to no time, but also works for other cleaning. For example, it will soak a bike in (rather less, if you are careful) bike cleaner in an instant, which can then be left on to soak in before rinsing with a light spray. This means the Karcher can be a useful aid to cleaning even when you don't want anything approaching the full blast of the washer (using the pressure settings on a bike is not recommended since it can theoretically blast the grease out of bearings... and (see above) will strip the paint even more easily!) The hose-brush convinces me rather less, not least since it gets filthy very fast, and seems to wash away the shampoo too quickly. The floor cleaning disc works well, but takes a lot of back and forth to avoid a spiral pattern on the ground, and is the most cumbersome bit to store. Altogether the added bits would cost much more than the difference between the basic kit and the bundle, however, so in my view it is worth getting the package.

Sistema Tritan Ultra Collection Round Storage Container, 770 ml - White/Grey
Sistema Tritan Ultra Collection Round Storage Container, 770 ml - White/Grey
Price: £6.50

4.0 out of 5 stars does the job, but lacks tactility for the price., 30 April 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
As far as storage jars go, this pretty much does the job without fuss or flaw. The plastic is a little flimsy, or perhaps feels that way because it is so clear, giving an impression that it should have glass-like rigidity, but it is actually comparably soft to most plastic storage containers. The lid seals with a quarter turn, and has a rubberised grip so most people shouldn't struggle to set it tight or open it with ease. The 750ml size is smaller that would be needed for pasta etc, but works well for coffee, keeping it fresher than an open packet. The only reason not to give 5 stars is the higher than average price, which is effectively for the cosmetic impact of the super clear plastic. However, the tactility doesn't fit with this, and the branding is too ostentatious to be a really nice addition to a worksurface, so it seems like a premium not really worth paying, in my view.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent cat food, with mild moral superiority, 14 April 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
May three fussy cats eat it, it is mildly more expensiave than the cheapest cat food, but soothes some of my guilt about feeding carnivores for fun, and so far hasn't caused any of my cats' kidneys to go into meltdown (as tends to happen with cheaper dried cat foods). All in all, very decent.
