Redemption's Edge (Redemption Mountain Historical Western Romance Book 1)
Redemption's Edge (Redemption Mountain Historical Western Romance Book 1)
Price: £0.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging read, 15 Oct. 2014
Another wonderful book from prolific author, Shirleen Davies. As with all her books, Davies builds her story around interesting characters and central themes. Her plotline is strong and varied, and the relationships she develops are complex and fascinating. The other unifying thread throughout her work is the setting: Montana, USA. Davies stunningly captures a sense of the rugged beauty of the Wild West, and conveys the dangers and difficulties of frontier life.

Redemption’s Edge is a historical romance set just after the Civil War. This is the story of Dex Pelletier and Rachel Davenport – both relative newcomers to Montana, both scarred by the Civil War. Rachel has become rooted in Montana, Dex is looking for a place to call home. This is a story of love and loss, pain and redemption.

Redemption’s Edge is the first book in the new Redemption Mountain series. If Davies’ previous series are anything to go by, this one will be fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance and Suspense, 8 July 2014
I have read so many of Shirleen Davies books now and I love each and every one. Davies is a queen of romance, tapping into universal difficulties of love and life and personality conflict, and throwing in a good measure of mystery and suspense while she’s at it.

One More Day delivers a story and characters that will capture your heart and keep you turning the pages. Cameron Sinclair (a MacLaren by marriage) is stubborn and ambitious. Lainey has just come out of a dysfunctional relationship and has plans to start a new life – plans that she is not willing to derail for any man. But Cam is not any man, and she needs him as desperately as she desires him. They are two independent people on separate life paths. This is a tale of two individuals and the struggles, both internal and external, they must overcome if they are to come together.

With a great plot and authentic characters, One More Day is an engaging read! I can’t wait for the next Fire Mountain book!

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll be hooked!, 13 Jun. 2014
Wilder than the Rest, set in the late 1800s, is the sixth book in the MacLarens of Fire Mountain Series. While each book offers new insight into the lives of the MacLaren family members, they can be read in isolation – though once you’ve read one, you’ll be hooked!

Wilder than the Rest is the story of Pierce MacLaren, a US Secret Services agent working for the Federal Government. The story heats up when Pierce is partnered with agent Mollie Jamison, with a cover story of being married. They are both stubborn and proud, and the two of them clash horribly. Their investigation into a counterfeiting ring provides a fascinating backdrop to the rollercoaster ride they take toward romance.

As always, author, Shirleen Davies, has created believable characters and an interesting plot. Davies knows how to tell a good romance, and Wilder than the Rest is no exception!

Briannca and the Crystal Dragons
Briannca and the Crystal Dragons
Price: £3.59

5.0 out of 5 stars A modern story filled with old mysteries., 28 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the story of Briannca and her brother, Enjee. When Briannca takes a part-time job, she has no idea that she will be stepping outside of time and saving dragons, something she could not do without her computer game playing brother.

Authors, Peter Wilkin and Marsha Berry, have blended fantasy with modern technology in a way that will appeal to boys and girls (and parents). The characters of Briannca and Enjee are wonderfully written. I was quickly swept up in the adventures, mysteries and dangers these two embarked on and loved meeting all of the dragons along the way.

Briannca and the Crystal Dragons is wonderfully quirky – a lovely book that certainly lends itself to a sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book to really hook you in!, 27 April 2014
'Hard Landing' is a modern day romance involving the MacLaren family. Author, Shirleen Davies, has created a detailed family tree through her Fire Mountain series, and each story is fabulous. With each book, she refines her craft, building well-rounded characters and complex storylines.

Following the story of Trey MacLaren, Davies tackles contemporary issues: work, love, loyalty, family obligations, and the complexity of relationships. This is a heartfelt story of the difficulties of developing and maintaining relationships amidst the complexity of modern life.

While 'Hard Landing' is the second book in the Fire Mountain Contemporary series, each book stands strongly on its own, so you don’t have to have read the first book – though I’m sure when you’ve read one, you’ll be hooked!

Love, Lust, and Other Complications
Price: £3.49

5.0 out of 5 stars An exceptional debut novel!, 18 Mar. 2014

Author, P. M. George, has written a wonderful story of the modern day search for love that explores philosophical, psychological and emotional questions about love and intimacy.

The characters of Sue and Mike are fabulously complex individuals of retirement age. George has created characters that step from the page - absolutely believable and well-rounded. They face their fears, they delve into their desires, and they do not run away from difficult issues. These characters dare to follow their own path in the face of social norms and expectation, and in doing do they break new ground and show us what is possible.

Love, Lust and Other Complications holds gems of wisdom for all readers - it is a modern story: witty, touching and insightful.

This is an exceptional debut novel. I cannot wait to read what comes next from this first time author.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put it down!, 18 Mar. 2014
Deadlier than the Rest is a wonderfully complicated story. With an intriguing plot that combines romance, history and elements of detective/crime, adventure and mystery fiction to spice things up even further, it offers much more than you expect to find in a usual romance.

Author, Shirleen Davies, writes great books – I have read all her previous Fire Mountain series books, but she certainly has excelled in the writing of this book. I was hooked from the very beginning and the tense opening scene of kidnap and desperation.

A great story with great characters – I couldn’t put it down!

Don Tillman is not your average guy...he's a bit nerdy, he's a little socially awkward, he's totally, refreshingly honest!
Sitting on the Asperger's spectrum, Don had decided to get married - now he just needs to find a wife.
Author, Graeme Simsion, has written a wonderfully funny book with strong, quirky characters and an interesting storyline.
If you enjoyed The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, you will love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and engaging, 14 Feb. 2014

This is such a fabulous book - great for any kid (or grown up) who has ever felt alone, only to find that no matter what happens, this is never truly the case.
When Bod's family is killed, a community of ghosts at the local graveyard take him in - but the killer is still out there.
Highly recommended!
