This is an excellent piece of engineering. Very well built and sturdy. Easy to use. Installation instructions OK but you need to drill very accurately into brick for firm fixing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't overlook this one!, 18 Feb. 2013

I have had a number of foil shavers over the last half century, the latest two were Braun's. This shaver outperforms any of my old shavers. If you are looking for a twin foil shaver which gives a consistent smooth close shave then this is for you. It comes as close to a wet shave as makes no difference. The charge lasts up to 2 weeks and the great thing is that, if it conks out half way through a shave you can plug it in and keep shaving. At this price it is simply UNBEATABLE. (Actually at 5 times this price it would still be unbeatable!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A balanced view, 18 Feb. 2013

If you are a fundamentalist atheist - don't read this book. If you are an agnostic or have found Richard Dawkins strident, critical, rude and belittling of his opponents then read on. This short book comprises letters to Richard Dawkins criticising his book "The God Delusion" for its omissions, superficialities and inaccuracies but mainly it challenges Dawkins' presuppositions. These have led to a number of serious errors in his treatment of religion/faith and resulted in the inadequate arguments on which he relies so heavily when he castigates religion in general and Christianity in particular. Read on to the end of the book to discover the adverse effect Dawkins' had on one of his "followers" when he read David Robertson's excellent and gentle rebuke of Dawkins.

4.0 out of 5 stars Convenient rather than outstanding, 8 Jan. 2013

I wanted a battery shaver and had had Braun's before, although not an uncritical fan. This one does the job, a bit slow, not the closest shave but great to keep in the travel bag. Like the integral foil cover which doubles as a lock to prevent inadvertent switching on and a subsequent flat battery.

Great CD from a woman whose voice never disappoints. New life breathed into old favourites. Even 'Away in a manger' sounded good (my least favourite carol).

Nokia 6300 Mains Charger

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing value, 14 Mar. 2012
Getting parts for mobile phones can be difficult or expensive. This was neither. The product does what is should and, post free, was an absolute bargain. Don't know how they do it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job, 4 Feb. 2011
I needed to record from my recently acquired Kawai electric piano on to my Mac and, being completely new to such a venture, I was not at all sure it was going to be straightforward. Some of the reviews of MIDI/USB cables were less than encouraging with reports of failure - mainly, I discovered, with Yamaha pianos. With some concern I ordered this cable and wondered how it was going to work. It turned out to be "plug and play". Using Mac's Garage Band software it proved simplicity itself to record what I wanted.

The Naked Emperor: Darwinism Exposed

5.0 out of 5 stars Seeking truth about evolution?, 30 April 2010
Having recently read James Le Fanu's "Why us?" I was fascinated to find in this book a more extensive and detailed critique of some of the concerns surrounding evolution. It was reassuring to find both authors using similar sources and objectively evaluating the concerns about the "evidence" for evolution. The fossil record, the genetic code, the important difference between micro- and macroevolution were all unemotionally considered. Once the evidence for both sides has been presented Andrew Latham then dedicates a chapter to a detailed critique of Richard Dawkins' "The Blind Watchmaker", exposing some of the illogical arguments Dawkins employs and achieving a thoughtful judgement without using the extravagant (abusive?) language which is a hallmark of Dawkins' writing.
For anyone hoping for a new revelation about evolution this will be a disappointing book because the author finishes with a short chapter appealing to reason and in which he reiterates his opinion that there is much we don't know about evolution, there is much which is mysterious about our origins and it is more honest to admit the limits of our knowledge than to peddle a theory which has so many flaws in it.
For someone like me, who has had a niggling feeling for many years that he was being duped by the tide of rhetoric claiming that the only truth was evolution, this was a seminal book to read. I put it down feeling better informed and relieved to have been given balanced facts without recourse to inflammatory rhetoric.
Altogether a brilliant read.
