Space Wolf: The Second Omnibus
Space Wolf: The Second Omnibus
by William King
Edition: Paperback
Price: £11.54

4.0 out of 5 stars which is good. Right, 5 Feb. 2016

Well written but, basically, just a straight forward repeat of the first Omnibus. With 40K stories, you always know what you are getting...which is good. Right?

3.0 out of 5 stars German text, 29 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book itself was in excellent condition...however the text was in German. On the IPhone version of the sellers page (which I purchased this on) it is not made apparent, though it is on the PC version which has more details on the book's specifications. It would be a good idea to title the book as "Ravenwing (German text)" or something similar to make this fact immediately apparent so that buyers don't have to go through all the rigmarole of buying it, thinking they've got a bargain, thinking they'be finally managed to buy a book they've been looking for for ages at a realistic price, only to have to box it back up and return it and ask for a refund. It's a lot of unnecessary messing about just for the sake of labelling something a bit clearer.

Anyway, the seller was very helpful and there was no problem at all in getting a refund of both the cost of the book and the original shipping cost-it was just very disappointing that I didn't get the book in my native language. Moral of the story-read the write ups on an item by previous buyers when you buy in on IPhone (which I stupidly didn't...) because pretty much everyone commenting on this item tells you it's German text. My bad...

1.0 out of 5 stars 30 minutes of my life I wish I could get refunded..., 23 May 2015

I don't know what I was expecting from this. I've read most of the novels by Black Library set during this period so I have a idea of what it would be about...it's just the way this game runs and is set out is VERY dated-a sort of bad role playing game circa 1980, but in a Kindle. I played it for about half an hour then deleted it-if a game hasn't hooked you by then then it never will. At least it was free, which is why it got one star...if I'd had to pay then I would NOT have written anything because swearing isn't allowed in a review..

5.0 out of 5 stars Still amazing, 12 May 2015
I honestly can't believe it's been over twenty five years since I originally read this...and it's still absolutely stunning. From the story to the art to the characters to...well, everything-this is STILL the second best series ever created, second only to Strontium Dog. I honestly didn't want it to end, and it saddens me that there's only one more phase/series left. Of the four phases this was definitely the best, though the other three are still incredible stories...

US Navy Fact File Attack Submarines
US Navy Fact File Attack Submarines
Price: £0.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Slightly better, 29 Dec. 2014
I give this two stars because it's got eight pages, including one for the front cover which is actually just a picture, as opposed to the one star I gave the SSBN version with it's pitiful four pages. It's really just a little e-booklet which, while containing some interesting information, isn't long enough and certainly not worth the money. Very disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Erm..., 29 Dec. 2014
Blimey...77p for a book that's actually just an e-pamphlet. A whole, massive four pages long, including the cover which is just a picture. I give it only one star because it at least gave a tiny bit of info. Very disappointing, though...

5.0 out of 5 stars Still an incredible story, 30 Oct. 2014
This review is from: Zenith: Phase One (Kindle Edition)
I read this when it was first published in 2000AD back in the '80s and still consider it my second favourite strip of all time, after Strontium Dog. The writing, art, story...everything is just incredible, and I'm really glad to see it back in print again. Each Phase gets better and I can actually remember where I was when I read the "Zenith will return..." message at the bottom of the final page of the final time the story ever appeared in The Galaxy's Greatest Comic...which was, unfortunately, never to be.

Still, it's finally here now, twenty-odd years later, and at a stunning cut price as well. I've already pre-ordered the second Phase...

I had to buy this in paperback because it was not available on the Kindle, despite it being the first in five books in the Silent Service series. The other four ARE on the Kindle...which isn't so unusual because I've had this before (parts of series only available in paperback) just annoying because the whole point of my Kindle was to thin out my collection of physical books.
Anyway, as usual H. Jay Riker writes an amazing story wrapped up in just the right amount of technical jargon, with great characters that you actually root for as the action unfolds, a well paced story and...well...basically an all-round brilliant book. If you're interested in submarines and submariners' lives then this is for you...

So this was for kids?

Well, I'm 47 and I enjoyed it. Granted none of the pictures are action shots but they are well structured and in focus and...well...for 77p what's not to like... :D
