3.0 out of 5 stars I also have an old HT IS 100 ( 6 yrs old) connected to another TV /Sat which is miles better and works, 28 Aug. 2015
Yes I too get audio loss when streaming through Catch Up or scrolling channels on Sky. It takes about 3 minutes for the machine to go off Standby and switch off, then it's just luck which combination of remote buttons solves it. I also have an old HT IS 100 ( 6 yrs old) connected to another TV /Sat which is miles better and works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thick As A Brick 40th Anniv edition, 6 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I remember in the 70's when Tull vinyl albums came out that they were lambasted for such dull, " recorded through a door" production. I've bought all the remasters upto A and enjoyed their new lease of life.Last year I bought a mega Aqualung package, Steven " Mr. 5.1 " Wilson's remix of Aqualung, was amazing, but this is the biz. Barriemore Barlow's drums and cymbals exist, the harpsicord and piano of John Evan are bright, the acoustic guitars rip out of the speakers and even the strange vocals about "Oh Fluffy Duck" are clear. Just listen as Barlow's hi-hat flutter travels all around your room!
It's a great presentation: the newspaper, the colour supplement with the inclusion of a Nick Begg's Cartoon of SW at work.
Excellent - could we please have a 5.1 version of Benefit and Songs From The Wood now Mr Anderson?

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece remastered at last, 13 Jan. 2012

This review is from: Gamma 2 (Audio CD)
1980 was a landmark year for rock in this country - it was the NWOBHM dawn - Iron Maiden's debut, Saxon's Wheels of Steel, Def Leppard's disappointing On Through the Night, Priest's British Steel and Aussies AC/DC with Back in Black. But under the radar crept an Amercan band with their second album. It was Gamma with Gamma 2 - I bought it on the strength of hearing " Something In The Air" played on Tommy Vance's Friday Night Rock Show. I still have the album ( and Gamma 3) and it is still one of my favourites. Why? The vinyl version is one of the best produced albums ever - the sound is crystal clear and Denny Carmassi's drums are the best drum sound you will hear. So how does this long - awaited remastered CD version compare? Well there's suddenly tons of bass which was obviously bounced down on the vinyl mix and the vocals are higher up in the mix.Carmassi's cymbals have been lost a bit and the drum sound has been smoothed off too. But what the heck - it's still a great album for air guitarists and drummers. " The Four Horsemen" always got into the rock top 20 most liked readers' polls in 1980. But my favourite track will always be " Voyager" - a minor single hit in US; it has a swooping monolithic guitar solo, demonstrating how technically brilliant Montrose was, and the drumming is, in my opinion, the Number 1 drum track of all time.If you have not heard this album, then you should take the plunge and buy it; if you don't the sharks on the cover will get you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Aqualung 40th Anniversary Box Set ( Vinyl + CDs + DVDs), 1 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you want just one reason to buy this set, it is the Steven Wilson 5.1 surround mix of "Life's a Long Song" - I had this on the EP vinyl, and other remastered CD versions, but the sudden emergence of Barriemore Barlow's drums is incredible and the strings swirl around your room. This has always been one of my favourite songs and now justice has been done. Also Steven Wilson gets the guitar solo on Aqualung to blast through every speaker which is again a wonderful effect. The whole package is thoughtfully put together and the book includes informative articles, recollections and lyrics. It is a great purchase, using one of the greatest 5.1 producers around just listen to Nine Feet Underground on Caravan's 40th Anniv. version of In The Land Of Grey and Pink, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Opeth etc). When will he get recognition? If you've got a Blu ray Player you get DTS Master 5.1 or the standard DVD gives you DTS/Dolby 5.1 - it's great either way.
Ian Anderson and alumni must be so proud of this set - go on, get it for Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Montrose were on Space Stn No 5 but this is on 11., 26 Mar. 2002
Unfortunately the single albums of Ronnie Montrose's super band have never been available on CD format. Gamma 2 is my all time favourite album, the production for vinyl was incredible. It yielded the Kerrang Top Playlist fave "4 Horsemen" and my favourite track ever "Voyager". This was a minor US single hit, but the guitar solo is spine tingling and the drumming of Denny Carmassi ( later in Heart) is the most accomplished piece of percussion until Mr Portnoy of D Theater got in on the act. This album is wide ranging and shows the depth of an unknown Scottish vocalist, Davey Pattison and the keyboard skills of Mitchell Froome ( Gamma 3) who later produced Crowded House. It suffers from being un remastered and not having any decent liner notes but it seems it is all Electra can be bothered to give us, so... if you like stratospheric guitar solos, multi-layered riffs, barn storming vocals and the best drumming of the 70's from the other side of the pond ... then buy it ..you cannot possibly be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cosmic Classic From Re-mastered Hawklords Delivers The Goods, 25 Nov. 2001
This review is from: In Search Of Space (Audio CD)
Last night I went and saw Hawkwind in Walthamstow, and they were incredible, but none of this album was on the playlist. I bought the original album in its ground breaking hawk sleeve plus the legendary Hawk log. The new CD gives clarity to the saxes and flutes of Nik Turner and Dave Anderson's bass lines are pure, but the drum sound is still woolly and not enough up in the mix. You get a groovy cross shaped digipak, complete with a reproduction Hawk logbook, but it is for punters who still have perfect vision as it is so small. Lemmy's shoutings about a Silver Machine are included, aswell as the 7" B side . There is another live track Born To Go. If you want the ace in the pack of Hawkwind's early stuff, this is it: turn up the volume, turn down the lights and take off into the universe of Dave Brock and his merry men...and Stacia.
