2.0 out of 5 stars One speaker broken after 10 minutes use, 3 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Appears to be quality issues with these speakers. Sound is ok for the price and water jets are fun but one speaker broken already. Replacement requested, will see if the same problem occurs. Disappointing as they were a birthday present.

5.0 out of 5 stars works great with Rasperry Pi, 4 Jun. 2013
I was expecting something flimsy but it's actually not a bad remote, pretty solid and well laid out. Buttons feel nice and responsive. Works out of the box with Raspbmc, all the main buttons work (volume, media buttons, navigation, power etc) Mouse is functional if a little slow, but that is to be expected, left and right buttons work. Quite pleased for the price I paid (£5.19 delivered at time of writing) and would recommend for use with Raspbmc. Will update if I have any problems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Compatible with Raspberry PI, 19 May 2013
Works out of box with Raspberry Pi, i'm using it with Raspbmc. List of working buttons:

Play, stop, FF, RW, pause
Volume up/down & mute
Arrow keys and backspace & page up/down
Power button.

Mouse control via joystick is slow but useable, left and right buttons function correctly.

Range is very good, no problems.

Build quality is OK, not great but acceptable for the price. IR adapter doesn't seem very robust but should be ok as long as you are careful extending it.

5.0 out of 5 stars great, suprisingly powerful for usb powered, 23 Feb. 2013
had doubts about this being usb powered but this speaker set is great for upgrading the sound on a small tv for example (using with a Technika 19" led which had awful tinny sound) It can be powered by the usb input on the tv so it switches on and off with the tv. It's not going to compare well with a full ac powered 5.1 system but it's decent enough to fill a room and the bass is impressive considering the price and it being usb powered. Speaker cables are plenty long enough and the subwoofer is compact. Improves the sound on my tv 300%, highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent, problem with analogue sticks, 17 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased this to use with my Galaxy S3 (running 4.1.2) for use with emulators. Controller is a tight fit with a Casemate Toughcase on the S3 so I removed the springs inside the controller to make it easier to attach.

The controller is fairly well put together if a little light, the plastic used is not of the best quality and feels a little cheap. The phone mount is spring loaded and will hold your phone firmly. The controller has four modes: iCade, mouse, keyboard and gamepad which are activated by holding either A B X or Y and and pressing the home button to pair.

The controller pairs automatically with Android 4.1.2 but apparently does not pair with 4.0 devices. In this case people have had success using the Gametel app (designed for the similar Gametel controller) from Play store. There is more info on this on Youtube, search 'ipega controller solution'.

I use gamepad mode for emulators. Buttons are mappable in emulators and work well apart from an issue with the analogue stick input being recognised as D pad input which is a problem if you need to map D pad and analogue sticks separately. I am looking for a solution for this and will update if I find one. The analogue sticks are also very sensitive so it takes a while to get used to.

The D pad, A/B/X/Y and shoulder buttons are really responsive so ideal for Megadrive/Snes emulators etc. I have used this controller successfully with N64oid, MD.EMU, Sonic CD and Sonic 4 Episode II. In GTA 3 the analogue sticks are recognised correctly but the other buttons do not respond.

Overall a decent controller for the price, battery life is good but minus a couple of stars as it could really do with a dedicated app to get the analogue sticks working correctly and the build quality is not the greatest.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very thin, 28 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Application was not a problem, easy enough to do with enough patience. The problem is the thickness of the film, compared to the last one I had on my S3 it is about half as thick. Which doesn't give me much confidence that it will protect the screen if for example it comes into contact with keys (as happened with my last screen protector which saved my screen from a nasty scratch or two) I am going to keep it on for the meantime and look for something thicker

3.0 out of 5 stars Great protection, poor grip, 29 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This case provides great protection, especially the ports which are completely covered via rubber flaps. Although it does add a fair amount to the size of the S3 it is acceptable. There are a couple of negative points however. Firstly the choice of material for the outer case. It is very smooth plastic and has absolutely no grip at all. This is a problem for a phone this size as it doesn't easily fit in the palm of your hand like a smaller phone and I found myself worrying about it slipping out, which it probably would have on a regular basis had I carried on using it. The other negative point is the volume/power buttons require quite a hard press once in the case, particularly the power button. Not a big issue but annoying. The included screen protector is a good fit and easy to apply and is a welcome inclusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best case in this price range, tonnes of grip, 29 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I previously purchased the Otterbox Commuter and although the case had excellent build quality and protection for ports the outer plastic shell of the case was very smooth and I felt that over longer use was prone to slipping out of my hand. I needed something with more grip and this case is perfect. The outer shell is textured and has a nice rubber grippy surface so I no longer fear the phone falling out of my hand. The case doesn't add to much to the size of the S3 and is a bit slimmer than the Otterbox case. I also never had any difficulty getting the phone in the case, the outer plastic shell has a bit of flex so it's pretty easy, and the volume/power buttons are very responsive once the case is on. I'm going to mark this down a star because there is no screen protector provided which is a bit stingy considering the price! Otherwise an excellent product.

Update 28/12/12

Dropped my S3 down some concrete steps today and it survived scratch free thanks to this case, if you are clumsy like me it is definitely a worthwhile investment!

Noontec A3 II 1080p Full HD MKV 7.1 Dolby Flash Media Player
Noontec A3 II 1080p Full HD MKV 7.1 Dolby Flash Media Player

4.0 out of 5 stars Product image inaccurate, only 1 usb input, 6 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First off just a heads up, the product image shows 2 USB ports and the item description states 1 USB port, it turns out there is indeed only 1 USB port. My fault for not reading the description I guess but it would help if the product image matched the actual item Amazon has in stock. Amazon have just updated the image which now shows the new style remote but the number of USB ports is still incorrect, please correct this Amazon!

On to the review, this is a decent product for a budget media player. Build quality is good compared to some of the lower price point players like the Sumvision Micro 2 and 3. The remote is certainly an improvement on the Sumvision Micro, it is well laid out and feels solid. However a few quirks I have with my setup are that the mute button switches on my DVD player and the volume up on my TV turns the subtitles on videos. My DVD player and TV happen to be fairly cheap Chinese built product, like the Noontec, so i'm sure this has something to do with it. Not a major problem and not fair marking it down because of this.

Playback wise filetype support is very good, I haven't found anything yet that won't play (my old WDTV generation 1 has problems with certain files). High bitrate 720p videos play nice and smooth, unfortunately I don't have any 1080p videos to test but i'm sure they will play fine. The fast forward function isn't great but perfectly acceptable. Also when you unplug the unit it will remember where you left off if you playback the same video which is very useful.

Here's a tip: when navigating the folder structures if you press option you can show the items either in a list, thumbnails (useless for long filenames) or preview which starts the video in a small window to the left. This is a nice feature which isn't often found on budget media players. The unit is very responsive, navigating the menu's and folders is quick and easy. Startup time is 5-10 seconds, it reads and indexes my 1TB drive quickly.

Going back to the USB port issue, interestingly the player has the ability to copy/delete/move files from one drive to another. I have tried an un-powered USB hub with a USB flash drive and an external powered drive and files failed to transfer. Whether a powered hub will enable this I don't know. I would say yes but don't quote me on that. If the player had 2 ports this would not be a problem (i'm sure this was the original intention) Files transferred fine from a SD card to USB. Another interesting feature is that the unit has the ability to read DVD's when attached to an external DVD drive, with full menu support. The green button on the remote even opens the DVD drive tray.

Overall a decent all round media player with good file support and build quality. At over half the price of the WDTV Live streamer it is a nice alternative if you aren't bothered about the extra features like Wifi/iPlayer/Netflix etc (I own both and consider both to be good value for money) Loses a star for inaccurate product image on Amazon.
