4.0 out of 5 stars Decent for the money with a few drawbacks., 16 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have had this tablet for over a month now and it's a decent tablet overall. Build quality is ok for the price but don't expect amazing quality, it's all plastic apart from two metal bands on the sides which are a nice touch, the buttons are also metal. The screen is plastic, it comes with a cheap screen protector but be careful taking the top protector off with the specs on as it's easy to take both off. I would recommend using a quality 2A charger as the supplied charger is pretty cheap feeling and I just don't trust cheap chargers especially charging unattended. Charging takes around 2-3 hours when the tablet is off. I have charged the tablet every day since purchase and according to Windows the battery capacity is factory 100% with no wear yet.

To access the boot menu hold volume down when powering on. Upon booting Windows 10 you will find it has an account already set up, they do this at the factory to test and set the language to English but you can reset Windows 10 if you want (it takes a while) Windows free space is 10GB or so, you will lose a couple GB's with Windows updates but if you do a disk cleanup after you can reclaim most of this. Windows 10 is fast but the EMMC is a cheap generic brand with slow 4K read/write speeds so you may notice it is slow to install apps etc.

The screen is impressive with nice colours and brightness. Wifi is stable with my home connection. The only major downside is the 4000mAh battery, with 25% brightness and wifi on with general browsing/videos I get around 4.5 hours. In Android expect around 4 with the brightness low.

The Android rom (4.4 Kitkat) has a bit of bloatware to remove (apart from one app you can't remove) but is pretty fast and nice to have the choice over Windows. Free space out of the box is 6GB. I actually find myself using Android a lot more than Windows due to ease of use. One issue I have in Android is the speaker is very slightly distorted but I usually use earphones or a bluetooth speaker. The Android rom will not read exFAT or NTFS so if you want to use a micro SD between Windows and Android it needs to be formatted to FAT32 (I use a Sandisk 128GB) Switching between Android and Windows takes around 30 seconds and to switch off whilst in Android hold down the power button and you will get the option to power off. I doubt Chuwi will ever release a Lollipop update for this tablet, the 4.4 rom is very stable though.

There are a few official cases available from various sellers online for this model that are made by Chuwi, I have the bluetooth keyboard case which is ok but a bit flimsy so I purchased the tri fold case (the one that comes in blue/white/grey) for daily use, it has a stand function and a magnetic cover.

So here's the pro's and cons in my opinion:

Pro's
+impressive screen resolution and brightness
+fast booting and OS switching
+decent performance, can run older games and some newer games decently
+solid build quality
+light in the hand

Cons:
-battery life is very average
-no NTFS or exFAT support in Android
-limited storage space in either OS
-slow EMMC drive depending on what you're doing
-camera's are poor
-speaker distortion in Android
-slow charging when tablet is switched on, worse in Android
-no HDMI out
Any questions please ask!

Arrived with tear inside on seam. Loose threads all over as well. Padding is thin and wouldn't protect against serious knocks. Overall it's ok for the price if you get one that isn't damaged but if you value your instrument it's probably better to spend a bit more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice little travel guitar, 2 Jan. 2016
Never heard of Luna guitars before, but was keen to try the Safari Muse due to many positive reviews on Amazon UK & US. This is a well made little guitar, it is a laminate top but sounds great (and looks great) considering. The supplied strings (think they are light gauge) were rubbish so swapped for Martin extra light and sounds much better. Action is good out of the box. Good intonation generally but does goes a bit out of tune with a capo on. Sustain and tone is good for its size and the bass is good even with extra light strings. It has a satin finish which is nice and smooth. Sounds especially great finger picked.

The supplied case is *rubbish* and will only do as a dust jacket really, invest in a proper gig bag and you're good to go. I've tried a few travel guitars (Washburn Rover, Yamaha JR1, Tanglewood TWRT) and the Luna Safari is the best I have come across and being laminate is probably an advantage for a travel guitar which is bound to get knocked and scratched. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars MAKE RECOVERY DRIVE BEFORE WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE! Great hardware, absolute nightmare if Windows 10 upgrade fails!, 7 Oct. 2015
Bought this laptop from another retailer, it's a nice little laptop for the money. Asus really concentrated on getting the basics right on this device. Build quality is solid and doesn't feel cheap like others in this price range. Nice matte finish to it and very light. I especially like the hinge - smooth and sturdy like a Macbook, can't stand the 'wobbly' types. Keyboard and trackpad are decent although the trackpad occasionally misses taps? Screen is bog standard really but colours and brightness are good, I recommend setting saturation to max in the Intel graphics settings to get the most out of the screen. The speakers are pretty punchy with a bit of bass even! There is however an issue with Windows 10 where the sound will fluctuate when watching video with quiet/loud moments (goes tinny in quiet quiet moments). It is fine listening to music. I suspect it is a driver issue as it is fine on Windows 8.1, I have emailed ASUS and await a response. It has the low end Atom chipset but I've used other devices with this specification and the performance is quite adequate. The charger is a proprietary type unlike the micro usb type that is common, but this means you can have a longer lead (2 metres) and faster charging compared to micro usb (19V 1.75A).

Battery life is outstanding I get around 8-9 hours and only takes around 60-70 minutes to fully charge. Bought this as a work horse for browsing and word processing so it's just fine for my needs.

Broke my golden rule and didn't bother to make a recovery drive before upgrading to Windows 10, read other reviews of the process going fine. Big mistake! Upgrade did not complete due to lack of space (was using a usb drive as well) and the upgrade had wiped the recovery partition and on the next restart would not boot. No tools on ASUS website to create another recovery drive so had to scour the web to manually fix it which took many many hours/days.

Eventually got going with Windows 10 and it runs very nicely. Free space after upgrade and deleting old Windows backup and upgrade files was 20GB.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality plastic earth pin and high pitched noise, 10 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Sufficient to power a Pi 2 with peripherals including a portable HDD. Loses 2 stars due to unit I received making pitched noise when in use and having a poor quality plastic earth pin which hinders plugging in/out of sockets.
