5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best wallplugs in the world?, 4 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These wallplugs are excellent. It's just frustrating so few places sell them. They grip the whole length of the screw, can be cut to whatever length is needed, and are particularly useful for long screws in deep or recessed holes. They're also very economical.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product: simple, cheap, works perfectly., 4 Jan. 2016
These strap locks are a simple and brilliant way to prevent guitar (or other instrument) straps coming off the instrument. They can be fitted in seconds, are very sturdy and secure, and require no modification to the guitar. They are unobtrusive, and don't stick out from the guitar body a long way (as some other types of lock do). I prefer these to the almost-identical Dunlop "7007" strap locks as these ones are neater due to their smaller size. I'm afraid I don't understand reviews that state these are flimsy or don't work - they do the job perfectly. (Note the two plastic sections can come apart if you force them, while the lock isn't fitted to the guitar - but once fitted properly, they can't come apart as the strap, strap button and strap lock itself hold everything in place). Only caution to note is that they fit strap buttons up to 15mm diameter; if your strap buttons are larger than this, these locks unfortunately won't fit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 2 Jan. 2016

I somehow missed The Thrashing Doves completely in the '80s and only learnt of them recently. This album is brilliant and feels a bit like a "missing link" between the 80s and 90s. It has jangly guitar riffs reminiscent of (for example) Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, and keyboard/synthesiser backing that evokes early Simple Minds, etc. But these images are coupled with an overall sound very prescient of bands like the Charlatans and Stone Roses, who rose to prominence a few years later. Maybe the Thrashing Doves were just a bit too far ahead of their time, or maybe the music media didn't quite know how to market them; either way a shame, they should have been much bigger and more well-known. If you like British pop/rock music from the late 80s / early 90s, then I recommend you try this album.

Philex - 27741 - Indoor DAB Aerial
Philex - 27741 - Indoor DAB Aerial
Price: £9.69

3.0 out of 5 stars A neat alternative to the flimsy freebie aerials supplied with DAB radios, but don't expect any better signal reception., 30 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this aerial to replace the original flimsy, flexible aerial supplied with a Denon DM38-DAB, for two reasons: to make a neater installation, and hopefully to improve reception. I write this review to assist anyone similarly thinking of improving-upon the aerial supplied with their radio.

As for neatness, full marks. The aerial is slim and discreet, with a sturdy base so is self-supporting. The included cable makes it easy to position it for best reception (but see next paragraph). Note it's about 18" / 45cm tall, from base to tip - I mention as some other reviews give incorrect size.

However, that is where its good points end. The product description says this aerial will "make all the difference to less than perfect signal reception" - strongly implying it gives better reception than other aerials. I'm afraid that simply isn't true. The reception is no better than the original aerial, even when positioning this aerial significantly higher, or by a window, to try and maximise reception.

So, three stars for being a neat option, that at least works the same as the cheap/freebie aerials included with DAB radios. But disappointing that, despite its claims to the contrary, it provides no better reception than the original aerials.

3.0 out of 5 stars Neat alternative to flimsy flexible aerials, but don't expect better signal reception, 13 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this aerial for my Denon DM38-DAB. The (flexible) aerial that came with the Denon was ok, but did not receive all DAB multiplexes. I have another DAB radio with a rigid telescopic aerial (like this product), which does receive all the multiplexes, so I thought this aerial would be a cheap and simple improvement to the Denon radio.

Sadly, that is not so. The Denon receives only exactly the same multiplexes and stations with this aerial, as with its original aerial. There is nothing wrong with the new aerial, it works fine and picks up the stronger multiplexes. But it doesn't do any better than the basic aerial that came with the Denon.

I realise lots of factors affect signal reception, not just the aerial. I write this review to advise others that if you are having DAB reception issues, this aerial isn't a magic upgrade. I will continue to use it for the time being, as it is at least neater than the original flexible aerial, and for its low cost it's worth it just for that.

The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble
The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble
Price: £9.80

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Compilation of Stevie Ray Vaughan's work, 5 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This has to be the best-value and most comprehensive compilation of all SRV's best-known work, plus plenty of other lesser-known songs. If you've heard a bit of SRV and want just one album of his, this would be an excellent one to get. Also, if you've never heard SRV but love blues guitar, this album is a great introduction to his work.

Ecopower 76943R 1.5 m On/Off 5-Way Surge R/C Socket Master

4.0 out of 5 stars Best product for someone with limited hand mobility., 5 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this for someone with extremely limited mobility and hand dexterity, so that they could turn a light on and off at night. It works perfectly for this purpose. The key point is that the remote has very simple, large, obvious ON and OFF buttons. Every other similar device I found has a remote crowded with lots of fiddly buttons, or a single on/off button (that can inadvertently be hit twice and thus you're back where you started). I didn't need five sockets, one was enough, but this is the only device with ON and OFF buttons that are truly suitable for someone with severely restricted hand mobility (it surprised me that in this day and age of disability awareness, there are so few products available for this sort of thing!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy metal plugs, substantial flexible cable, 21 Oct. 2014

These are good cables: sturdy metal plugs, flexible cabling that seems strong and resists kinking; it easily forms neat coils that 'fall out' naturally when you want to uncoil it. Can't fault them.
