1.0 out of 5 stars Completely fails as ice cream safe, 12 July 2016
I tried to use it for the most obvious thing - keeping ice cream locked until given time. And now the whole contraption is stuck, and I have no way to get to the ice cream short of breaking the safe.

There was no warning or anything about that.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sound quality is not great and there's no battery level indicator., 14 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
They are two big issues with these:
* sound quality is not great - there's constant low-level static noise I don't get with wired headphones
* there's no battery level indicator (on either headphones or computer), so I have no idea if I need to charge them or I can keep using them. Battery lasts a few days, but it's really annoying when it runs out and I'd like some kind of warning.

It had one job - keeping the key safe. And it broke far too quickly, I'm not even sure why. I guess I'll get a different one now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Premise is a lie, recipes are ridiculously overcomplicated, 21 May 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The premise of the book is a total lie. None of these recipes were made by a computer, it just generated ingredient lists, which were modified and turned into recipes by human chefs.

As for actual recipes, they're ridiculously overcomplicated, and use tons of hard to get ingredients. They list cooking time, but just looking at how long lists of ingredients are, it's safe to say that they're ridiculously underestimated.

The whole thing is pointless, there are so many better cookbooks out there, and I'm really annoyed by overstated AI claim. The only redeeming value I can think of are pretty pictures.

tl;dr 1/5 stars don't bother.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not support claimed 2560 x 1600 resolution at all!, 7 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Product description claims this supports dual link DVI at 2560x1600.

When connected to actual Macbook Pro it offers no more than 1280x800. It's completely worthless.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's way better than others I tried, but still not perfect., 13 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's much more comfortable than other sleep masks with straps around the head that hurt my ears, and it blocks more light, but light blocking is not perfect and it feels too warm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blocks most light without significant discomfort, 24 May 2014

This review is from: Good Night Eye Shade
It's not perfect, and quite a bit of light is going to get through, but it's more comfortable than most I tried, and it does a bit better job than average on light blocking.

4.0 out of 5 stars A life saver, 24 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The toothbrush is a bit wobbly, but there's only so much one can expect from such a compact shape.

It's definitely awesome to have a toothbrush and toothpaste ready whenever you need it, and it does its job very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low culture retelling and recontextualizion of myths from various cultures, 24 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Most books on mythology treat myths as some kind of highly venerable ancient tradition, while for most parts myths were part of low culture, told or sung by drunken men who never treated it too seriously and changed the story and the characters from retelling to retelling - at least that's how it definitely was in ancient Greece, and it's a safe bet it wasn't that different it other places.

Cory O'Brien extrapolates from that and recontextualizes the myths by performing a very low culture and highly entertaining retelling of them. Not just the usual kind like Greek, Norse, or Egyptian - he goes all the way into American Founding Fathers, Scientology's Xenu story, and even the Big Bang creation myth (and as he says - it doesn't matter if the myth is true or not, it matters if it successfully provides meaning).

The book is also pretty short, so it doesn't overstay its welcome - something I can definitely appreciate. You'll end it craving for more, not glad that it's all over (yes, I'm talking to you G.R.R.Martin about all the Meereenese crap you added to the Game of Thrones series).
