Great Fiction, pity about pullman's obsesion with the church, 29 Nov. 2007
As a normal teenager I loved Pullman's fantisy world, a genius remenicent of C.S Lewis and Tolkin. The beautiful descriptions, the flowing narative and the beliveble charicters combine to make "His Dark Materials" a work of fiction that surpasses the vast majority of what passes for literiture in the 21st century.
Unfortunatly Pullman by his own admission has gone out of his way to bash the Catholic Church, his one-sided chariceture bares no resemblence to the institution that built western civilisation and is just another example of fundementelism, albiet of the Athiest variety.
