1.0 out of 5 stars This is a case for kindle voager. The problem ..., 27 Feb. 2017
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a case for kindle voager. The problem with the case is that the magnet that turns kindle of when case is fully closed is either in the wrong position or too strong. When I open the case and fully onfold the flap so that it touches back of the kindle, it turns kindle off, same as if it was fully closed. I wrote about this problem to the manufacturer but got no responce.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good. I like Walter Jon Williams, 17 Dec. 2015

Very good. I like Walter Jon Williams, but some of his latest books disappointed me a bit. I was surprised how good this one is. Complicated plot, unusual aliens, fast but interesting action, and not overloaded. Everything is believable, characters are well fleshed out. Overall excellent book.

1.0 out of 5 stars horrible stuff from such a great writer, 14 July 2015

This review is from: Seveneves (Paperback)
The book is a manual to imaginary space station built and managements. It has hundreds of pages dedicated to descriptions of various technical procedures, devices, assembly protocols, flight instructions, and so on and on and on it goes without end. The book is mind numbingly boring, and impossible to read. The actual plot on the other hand is stupidly simple and totally unbelievable. First moon blows up for no reason at all. Then humanity is destroyed just two years later, and then 8 human survivors recreate mankind in 5 thousand years.

Worst science fiction book I have read in years although it is in direct competition with sequels to John C Wright's Judge of Ages.

1.0 out of 5 stars is this science fiction?, 4 May 2013
This review is from: Dark Eden (Paperback)
The book is set on a world of Dark Eden that is surprise surprise perpetually dark. It has all the animals we have on earth only all this animals have slightly different names. In all other ways its no different from earth. A starship with some explorers from earth have crash landed on the planet. The action is many generations later when few surviving astronauts have multiplied into 500 strong tribe, and reverted to primitive hunter gatherer society.

Novel describes in great detail how tribe lives in primitive conditions, hunting gathering food infighting, and basically getting on with life. Eventually more adventurous decide to go their own separate way and move with great difficulty over very cold mountains to another valley. In between there is a lot of very boring description of life in small primitive community, with infighting and jostling for leadership. The writing is uninspiring with lengthy unnecessary descriptions contributing very little to the plot. The plot itself is just a dull story of life in expanding primitive tribe. Similar books exist about tribal life at the beginning of human history, where the writing is miles ahead and the plot is a lot more exciting. The science fiction element of the story feels artificial, and does not add anything to the novel. The book got Arthur Clarke award for 2013. I must say that the only justification is low quality of sci-fi this year.
