5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect base, 29 May 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I love the ‘Real Techniques’ range of makeup products as they have been well thought out and designed to make like quicker and easier. The brushes are soft and kind to your skin, they keep their shape and can be reused time and time again.

This set gives you everything you need to achieve full coverage and perfect contouring. You get:
Brush cup – A square white cup for easy access to your favourite brushes;
Square foundation brush – Excellent at providing a full coverage look, for concealing, and for contouring. Due to its design this brush is perfect for layering your foundation. On areas where you need a little less coverage, the buffing brush is the brush to use. It is excellent for concealing as you can concentrate the areas that you want to cover without affecting your existing base. The square edge is great for contouring too, as you can create a good clean line across your skin from which to blend;
Buffing brush – Provides a lighter foundation coverage than the square foundation brush due to its design. It buffs the foundation across the skin, providing a more natural looking finish. You can work quickly across your face, buffing the foundation in circular motions as you go;
Detailer brush – This brush is small and is perfect for applying foundation or concealer to smaller or more detailed areas, such as the bridge of the nose, edge of the nose, under eyes, under brow, or for covering blemishes;
Contour brush – Excellent for blending in contoured lines.

Overall this is a nice set full of quality product to help you achieve your perfect base.

I love the ‘Real Techniques’ range of makeup products as they have been well thought out and designed to make like quicker and easier. The brushes are soft and kind to your skin, they keep their shape and can be reused time and time again.

This set gives you everything you need to achieve perfect brows. You get:
A case – This is the case the set comes in, with a clear plastic flap lid;
Scissors – For shaping and trimming rouge hairs;
Slanted tweezers - For plucking and shaping your brows;
Brow brush – For defining and filing in your brows using brow powder;
Highlighting brush – This brush is angled to allow easy access under your brow line. This is perfect for highlighting the area under the outer part of your brows, making your eyes appear brighter;
Spoolie brush - Separates hairs. When brushed upwards it allows you to see the length of your hairs and identify where they need to be trimmed. It is also excellent for softening the look if you have applied too much brow powder.

Overall this is a nice set full of quality product to help you achieve perfect looking brows.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent coverage for face & body, 29 May 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I love the ‘Real Techniques’ range of makeup products as they have been well thought out and designed to make like quicker and easier. The sponge is soft and kind to your skin and can be reused time and time again.

This miracle sponge is pretty big, certainly the largest sponge in the range so far. You can use it on your face for foundation, primer, moisturiser, cleansing, and even applying fake tan. It is excellent at blending skin tone from your face to your neck, making it appear more natural. On the body it is excellent for covering tattoos, applying fake tan, and applying moisturiser. It is quick and easy to use, and as the surface area is so large, it does not leave any streaks on your skin. This is an excellent sponge for covering larger areas.

I love the ‘Real Techniques’ range of makeup products as they have been well thought out and designed to make like quicker and easier. The sponge is soft and kind to your skin and can be reused time and time again.

The miracle sponge provides excellent skin cleansing whilst still being kind to your skin. Simply dampen the sponge, add cleanser directly to the tapered end, add a little extra water, and run it across your skin in circular motions. Once complete, rinse the sponge with a little water ready for next time. This sponge provides a little exfoliation whilst it cleanses, leaving your skin feeling clear and clean

I love the ‘Real Techniques’ range of makeup products as they have been well thought out and designed to make like quicker and easier. The sponge is soft and kind to your skin and can be reused time and time again.

The dual ended sponge is used dry to give you full coverage. The orange end is angled and is designed to apply foundation smoothly across your skin, it can be used with powder, liquid, or cream foundations. The pink end is for contouring and highlighting, and the rounded edge is excellent for even distribution before blending in. This sponge helps to achieve full coverage effortlessly.

The Waking Land (The Waking Land Series)
The Waking Land (The Waking Land Series)
by Callie Bates
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £16.99

4.0 out of 5 stars The land whispers and I wed it, 18 May 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
‘The Waking Land’ tells the story of Elanna, a Sorceress destined to protect the lands of her world. Suspected for murdering the King, the man who kidnapped her as a child, she is forced to flee the land she was raised in to find safety amongst strangers. Yet the reach of the new Queen is vast across the lands and Elanna struggles to know who she can trust. Ulterior motives are rife, dangers always lurking, and betrayals too close to home. As Elanna begins to understand her connection to the Earth and the powers that lay within her, she realises she must harness these skills if she is ever to be free. Whilst littered with danger, and a little romance to boot, her journey is one of self-discovery as she learns who she really is and accepts her own destiny. Learning to become one with the land, she knows she must fight to protect the people and help instil a worthy subject on the throne.

I was intrigued by the premise of this book and I did enjoy the story, but there is something lacking in this book that I can’t quite place. The pace is good, but it does seem that some things hop from A to B without a clear description of exactly how. Some areas are covered in great detail which is good, but other areas seem to have a little too much happening at once, perhaps if these areas were slowed a little then it would have been more seamless.
I like that the story is seen through Elanna’s eyes as it gives you a good understanding of her thoughts and beliefs, making her actions far more understandable than if it was written in 3rd person. The story wraps up nicely by the end, but it is evident where the trilogy continues.
In some ways it felt that this story would be on par, reading age wise, with something like the ‘Twilight’ series, but then the depth would often twist into something younger before returning to that level again. I understand that this written for young adults and that moods and views can be erratic, but a more consistent feel would have added volumes to the story.

Overall, I really liked the story that this book offered. The scenes are descriptive and the characters individual and likeable. Personally, I think that with a little more refining this book could have been a standout. I’m intrigued as to where the story will lead Elanna in the sequel, but I’m not sure I’m intrigued enough to buy the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious recipes from root to tip, 13 May 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is an excellent cookbook that is all about reducing waste. It is the nose to tail guide of vegetables, the root to tip if you will. What I love most about this book is that it gets to the point, no messing around with long intros, no details on different pots and pans, or even how to distinguish herbs, just a quick double page intro and the recipes begin.

The recipes themselves are straightforward and easy to follow. There are tips for variations, storage instructions, intensifying flavours, and ways to reuse leftovers. There are references to other recipes in the book that pair together well, and suggested serving quantities. You can take the idea of root to tip as far as you want with this book, or you can do what you normally do whilst enjoying a range of new recipes. There are no hard and fast rules as you’ll discover if you read the intro regarding expiration dates, which I agree with the author on…they seem more like guidelines than a hard and fast rule for me.

The recipes themselves are varied and delicious, splitting the book into 4 natural ‘chapters’: Veg Out; Getting Fruity; From Bin to Buffet; Heads or Tails. Each chapter has subsections that start with some tips or general guidance about their area. For instance, in ‘Getting Fruity’ subsection ‘Berry Good’, you get tips on freezing and defrosting fresh berries whilst in ‘Heads or Tails’ subsection ‘The Chicken or the Egg?’, you learn about different egg types and sizes, chicken carcasses and skin.

This is a well-conceived book in which nothing is overdone. You are given the information in a clear and concise way. The recipes are easy to follow, easy to prepare, and most importantly taste delicious. An excellent cookbook for any kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crystal clear sounds on the move, 13 May 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These earphones produce excellent, clear, quality sounds. The ear buds mould well to your inner ear, blocking out surplus noise effortlessly. The music quality is excellent and easily controlled by 3 buttons on the wire: Power (paus/play music, also pairing), Plus (increase volume, hold to skip forward a track), Minus (decrease volume, hold to go back a track). There are a couple of clips included that help to reduce the length of the wire and keep it tucked away whilst you are in motion, and a clip to ensure that it remains attached to you when you remove the ear pieces. It charges quickly, approx. 1.5 hours, and the charge lasts for around 10 hours. It has its own mini charging port that the unit sits on, and it charged through a standard USB port. You get 3 sets of inner ear securing covers, 3 sets of silicon ear bud covers, and 3 sets of insolation foam ear bud covers, all different sizes to suit your own preference of comfort. The earphones come in a pop open case, perfect for protecting your headphones when not in use.

These headphones provide excellent and clear sounding music and calls. The controls are easy to use and the charge lasts a long time. An excellent product that gives you the freedom to move.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality headphones for clear sounding music and calls, 13 May 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These earphones produce excellent, clear, quality sounds. The ear buds mould well to your inner ear, blocking out surplus noise effortlessly. The music quality is excellent and easily controlled by 4 buttons on the neckband: Power (also pairing), Plus (increase volume, hold to skip forward a track), Minus (decrease volume, hold to go back a track), Stop (pause/play music, accept/end calls, hold for voice dial and call reject). The neckband is extremely comfortable and lightweight, sitting perfectly around your neck and limiting the presence of trailing wires. It charges quickly, approx. 1.5 hours, and the charge lasts for around 10 hours. The USB port is concealed at the end of the neckband. You get 4 sets of ear bud covers, different sizes to suit your own preference of comfort. The earphones come in a hard case zipped container, perfect for protecting your headphones when not in use.

These headphones provide excellent and clear sounding music and calls. The controls are easy to use and the charge lasts a long time. They are a little cumbersome to carry if you don’t have the space for the case, but they are worth the investment for the quality of the product. I love the convenience of losing trailing wires whilst still maintaining control of the paired device effortlessly. Another excellent product from Sennheiser.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These earphones produce excellent, clear, quality sounds. The ear buds mould well to your inner ear, blocking out surplus noise effortlessly. The music quality is excellent and easily controlled by a small button on the earphone wire. Press the button once to pause/play you tracks. Hold the button for a couple of seconds to activate voice recognition where it recognises controls such as ‘next track’ ‘increase volume’, ‘lower volume’. You can even search Google for other random searches through speech recognition whilst listening to music. When receiving calls, the music automatically pauses until you are done with your call. Excellent quality earphones for an affordable price.
