Burt's Bees Mama Bee Leg and Foot Cream, 95ml
Burt's Bees Mama Bee Leg and Foot Cream, 95ml
Price: £12.95

4.0 out of 5 stars Cools the skin but the smell is too intense, 25 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The aroma of this Leg & Foot Cream is intense and distinctly Peppermint. I love the smell of Peppermint but I found this to be far too overbearing for my senses to be able to breath at the same time as applying it. However, it does work well and does provide a nice cooling sensation to legs and feet that lasts about 3o minutes at a time, slightly longer if you put your feet up. The cream appears to be of a good consistency but does become like water when rubbed across the skin. It absorbs well and the essential oils hydrate your skin well. You get a good size tube, 95ml, made with 100% natural ingredients.

Burt's Bees Cocoa and Cupuacu Butters Body Lotion, 170g [Packaging may vary]
Burt's Bees Cocoa and Cupuacu Butters Body Lotion, 170g [Packaging may vary]
Price: £9.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Intense hydration for dry skin, but it does not smell good, 25 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
When you first use this body lotion you cannot help but notice the intense Cocoa Butter aroma. However, once applied to the skin it does take on more of a grease/oil aroma that is pretty pungent and not nearly as pleasant as the initial Cocoa hit. Nevertheless, it does provide deep hydration to your skin. The cream is of a body butter consistency and is rich, spreading across the skin well. It absorbs easily into the skin and leaves a protective layer which lasts for quite some time.
The tube is of a good size at 170g, and it is made from 99% natural ingredients.

Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Duo - 2-Piece Gift Set
Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Duo - 2-Piece Gift Set
Price: £19.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Intense hydration for dry skin, 25 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Designed to help hydrate dry skin, this cleanser and day cream duo prepares your skin well for the day ahead.

Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage:
The first thing you notice about this cleanser is its aroma, the most predominant fragrance being of Orange oil. I was a little surprised as it is supposed to be with Clary Sage, but I prefer the Orange as it smells clean and refreshing. It is effective at removing makeup and cleansing your skin, but if you have sensitive eyes like mine then they may be stinging for a while. The tube is of a good size, 170g, and made from 99% natural ingredients. The white cream is smooth, no beads or crystals in it, and it lathers on your face well. Your skin is left feeling clean, refreshed, and a little tighter after using.

Day Lotion with Clary Sage:
Unlike the cleanser this day cream does smell like Clary Sage and you get an initial herbal/nettle hit. The cream itself is thin and not very rich, there is no natural glide across your skin. The effect of the essential oils does make your skin feeling hydrated but perhaps a little greasy. The pot has a push down lid mechanism and is of a good size, 50g. It is made from 99% natural ingredients.

Overall this is a nice duo set that leaves your skin feeling more hydrated. The gift box is well presented and would make a lovely gift for those with dry skin.

Burt's Bees Burt's Classics - Beeswax 2-Piece Gift Set
Burt's Bees Burt's Classics - Beeswax 2-Piece Gift Set

4.0 out of 5 stars Bauble gift set to hydrate hands and lips, 25 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I love that this 2-piece gift comes inside a Xmas bauble and I’m tempted to get a few more just for the hanging tins.
The tin itself is sturdy and pretty, covered in large snowflake shapes, and is hexagonal in shape. There is a hanging ribbon on top to attach it to the tree. It is approx. 6 x 8 cms inside, and the two halves secure together firmly by snapping closed. This tin is perfect for putting your own Xmas treats in to hang on the tree, hidden but in plain sight.

The balm is great for soothing sore and dehydrated lips. The Beeswax contains Vitamin E & peppermint, the peppermint being the predominant aroma. The beeswax keeps your lips moist and hydrated whilst the peppermint adds a soothing yet fairly warm and tingling effect. The stick is a wind up 4.25g tube containing 100% natural ingredients. The balm is soft in texture and the oil allows them to glide across your lips effortlessly, leaving your lips feeling extremely soft and hydrated.

The hand salve smells like a mix between Eucalyptus, Lavender, and Sweet Almond oils which is strong but extremely pleasant. The tin is not huge, 8.5g, and I found that as my hands are so incredibly dry I needed to use quite a lot more than expected. However, it is effective at hydrating and soothing sore and/or chapped hands. This salve is oil based, so unless you are planning to use it sparingly then you may want to consider using moisturising gloves, or else your hands will stay oily for quite some time.

Overall this is a really nice gift set for hydrating hands and lips. It comes in a well presented tin that doubles as a Xmas decoration to be filled. Really nice set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for dry skin, 23 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This face mask is quite good at hydrating your skin. Made from 99% natural ingredients its predominant aroma is a light herbal smell that I guess must be the Clary Sage. The cream is light-weight on your skin and unlike many masks it actually absorbs into the skin like a moisturiser. It can be used 1-2 times a week and should be left on for 5-10 minutes before tissue wiping any excess from your face. It does leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and more hydrated than before. However, as this is an intensive hydration face mask you may need to be careful of naturally oily areas such as T-zones. My cheeks and forehead feel better for the mask but my nose feels like an oil slick. Nevertheless, this is something that can be adjusted for each face treatment.

Overall I think this product may be a little too hydration intense for my skin. I prefer masks that even out the oil in my skin, not accentuate the issues. However, if you suffer from dry skin then this mask may very well be perfect for you.
I have actually started using this mask on my legs, the lower part of which are always flaking from dryness no matter what I use and the results from this mask are actually pretty good. It absorbs into the skin well and the ‘mask’ effect provides a lightweight film over your skin. Great for keeping your skin hydrated and protected. This product may be sold as a face mask but it is excellent for hydrating any areas of dry skin.

Baylis & Harding La Maison 500ml Bath & Shower Creme
Baylis & Harding La Maison 500ml Bath & Shower Creme

3.0 out of 5 stars Smells a little too manly for my taste, 23 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The aroma of this Bath & Shower Crème is quite subtle but it does remind me of a manly scent that I can’t quite put my finger on, maybe Lynx? The scent is not long lasting and it disappears from your skin soon after washing but I would still enjoy a scent I like. It lathers relatively well but it could do with more oomph in the lathery bubble department.

At 500ml the bottle is of a good size, double the size of standard shower gels. The bottle itself is what you would expect from Baylis & Harding, sturdy, attractive, and secure. It has a silver starfish hanging from the lid to fit in with the ‘Sea salt & wind’ theme. The lid has a press down opening which then opens one side of the lid, pretty standard really but I do prefer lids on the base of products so that they are easier to use as the product runs down.

I really like Baylis & Harding products but I don’t care for the aroma of this one. Personally, I prefer B&H Shea Butter & Almond Oil shower crème which not only smells amazing but it extremely hydrating on your skin.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lacks any tension until the end, 23 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Her Husband’s Lover tells the story of betrayal from a few different angles but predominantly from that of Louisa, the wife. Louisa’s life is torn apart when, chased by her husband Sam, she has a car crash that kills not only him but also her two children. Before long Sophia, the ‘other woman’, crawls from the woodwork with venom. She blames Louisa for taking away the life she could have had and vows to avenge Sam’s death along with the loss of her own imagined future. So begins the story of one woman’s struggle to start her life anew, plagued by the ghosts of the past and the woman who will not let her be.

The last quarter of the book is really good, there is tension and intrigue, and obviously this is when everything comes together.
However, with the exception of the opening scene the first three quarters of the book lacks this tension or any tension at all, making it more like a drama series than anything else. Perhaps this was in part due to the seemingly continual presence of babies, of lactating, of feeding, of toilet habits, which in the main did not add anything to the story, rather it detracted from any potential tension that could have been built. I appreciate that the children were important to the overall story but that came across without the need for visual specifics. It all became a little mundane, a little too ‘everyday life’ and I found that I quickly lost interest at the lack of intrigue or tension. Perhaps that was the point, to move things from everyday life to the final quarter where things do become interesting but I’m not sure that everyone will make it that far.

Julia Crouch is a good story teller. Her writing style is descriptive and her words flows well, allowing you to visualise your surroundings. It is a shame that the intrigue and tension was not there throughout the entire book but it did end on a successful high.

Burt's Bees Sensitive Night Cream 50g
Burt's Bees Sensitive Night Cream 50g
Price: £13.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Hydrating cream for sensitive skin, 23 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a sensitive night cream that contains cotton extract. The cream is lightweight and extremely hydrating to your skin. The consistency is relatively thin but it glides across your skin and is absorbed effortlessly. There is very little aroma so it is unlikely to irritate even the most sensitive of skin types. Unlike a lot of night creams, it does not leave your skin feeling oily in the morning. Skin feels soft and hydrated. It is well presented in a clean white jar, 50g, and contains 99% natural ingredients.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hydrates well but it is a little oily, 22 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This hand cream is designed for very dry skin. It is fragrance free but there is a slight hint of an essential oil, which I guess is the Baobab Oil. The cream is of a good consistency, but it is not terribly thick, certainly not anywhere near as thick as other creams for dry skin. It spreads across your hands well and the oil does seem to help with dry patches, but it does leave an oily residue on your hands that lasts a little while. I have quite severe issues with my hands and for me this is not the most hydrating cream unless applied liberally, but a thin layer is quite soothing and does help to alleviate itching. This is a really good cream to use under moisturising gloves as you can apply it far more liberally without the troublesome effects of the oil. It is a nice and compact tube, 50g, that contains 98.9% natural ingredients.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Balm, Beeswax, Squeezable, 9.2g
Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Balm, Beeswax, Squeezable, 9.2g
Price: £4.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Squeezable balm to soothe & hydrate your lips, 22 Feb. 2017
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This squeezable balm is great for soothing sore and dehydrated lips. The Beeswax contains Vitamin E & peppermint, the peppermint being the predominant aroma. The beeswax keeps your lips moist and hydrated whilst the peppermint adds a soothing effect. The mint adds a slight warming sensation to your lips that I find to be quite pleasant. The lip of the tube is tapered to run smoothly across your lips and with a gentle squeeze the soft balm is released through its opening. It has a screw top lid, is made from 100% natural ingredients, and contains 9.92g of balm.
