5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent Premium TV, with a nice look, Excellent picture and good sound. Recommended., 17 Dec. 2015
I would like to give it 4.5 stars if I could. Had this TV for just over 1.5 months now. The picture quality, detail and colours is superb. I followed a picture settings recommendation on youtube that takes about 10-15 minutes to set, but worth it. Some of the pre-settings with a tweak are excellent. Dynamic for instance, really is full on for brightness and colour and watching an older blu ray like Casino, it really punches through the slight grain in the blu ray transfer. The colours and old cars in the film almost look like photos, the quality and sheen is so clear. The natural and standard settings are also good and I tend to flick between the three when watching movies and football in HD. I have a fairly small rectangular lounge and so 48" is big and spot on for watching TV or films in 1.85:1. With the black bars on some films, you could always like the 55". But I can also pull the TV stand nearer to me than the just under 8 feet if I wanted too. The curve is impressive looking, but not especially essential to viewing. My room is fairly dark anyway and I've had no issues with reflections or bad viewing angles at all. The silver bezel does catch the light a tiny bit, but it is very rarely noticed. It comes with two remotes. The standard one is great and simple. I haven't used the mouse type one much. These top end Samsung TV's don't give you an option for the flat screens and the Panasonic I was looking at (50") had feet at either end and wouldn't have fitted my existing stand. I've always been a Sony man and this is my first Samsung TV. My only reservations are slight lip sinc issues. On my old Sony TV with my Sony Blu Ray Player, it was never an issue. Sky HD direct to the separate processing box is fine. But films via my Yamaha amplifier via HDMI and then via HDMI to the box, there is a slight delay in the speech. I contacted Samsung and they told me about the time delay option. I've set this at 50MS and it is almost perfect, but not quite. My TV also has the latest firmware upgrade. Hopefully something will be fixed further going forward. 3D on the TV was excellent and the sound is quite weighty as TV's go. It's fine for general viewing and films is not bad, but you would always want a speaker package or soundbar in an ideal world. The only other slight pain is turning the TV on and off and this might be because Sky is my only TV source and I don't have an aerial. You can turn it off to standby easily with the remote control, but if you turn off at the back of the TV, sometime it goes into some odd trying to find a source/tuning mode and it's very silly and annoying. I then go to the remote in frustration. It is clever that when you turn on Sky or the blu ray player the TV comes on automatically. The TIZEN system is easy to use and a lot of apps are there. The streaming is very quick. An episode from Netflix looks amazing, comes up and starts in three seconds and remembers where you left it. Sometimes the TV comes up with a box saying it will switch off in 60 seconds (presumably due to inactivity of the set, even though I'm watching something). Maybe another slight niggle to iron out. It is useful the separate box does the processing. It makes a little noise and doesn't bother me, but it means if there are vast improvements in the future, a new box can be bought rather than replacing the whole TV, as the processing is in the box, not the TV itself. Overall it's a beautiful TV. Mine came with a free 5 year guarantee. Blu rays look amazing. 3D is very good too. DVD quality and standard definition on Sky does look a bit soft and could be better. The better source you put into it, the more you're rewarded. There are many picture settings to play with. 4 and a half stars from me and with a couple of niggles to be ironed out, it would be 5 stars no doubt. I definitely recommend this product. It's a premium price/TV, but your rewarded with an excellent picture and decent sound. I'm yet to play a PS4 game through it, but over Christmas, I will look forward to that and also try to find some 4K content. There's a wildlife in Vietnam Nat Geo documentary on Sky Catch Up at the moment and in HD, the animals, detail and colours were simply amazing. It's worth finding material like this to test it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars First One Was Very Good, But This Was Funnier Still, 14 Sept. 2015
I went to the cinema, not expecting this to be as good as the first one. I was pleasantly surprised, when it was better. The laughs kept coming all the way through. I thought the first one ran out of puff towards the end when Ted got kidnapped. This one was brilliant and some hilarious moments. Everybody's sense of humour is different. Mine is quite dark and some of the lines and situations Seth MacFarlane throws up are superb. I mean trying to get a sperm sample from Tom Brady, it's just out there. If you liked the first one you should love this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Film, Base On Real Life Events, 28 Feb. 2015
Bennett Miller has only made 3 films. Capote, Moneyball and now Foxcatcher. Two of these projects were rejected by Steven Soderbergh, otherwise he may not have made the. As a director he has his own unique style. His scripts are very dry and he takes his time to flesh out the characters and the story. I saw 4 good movies, either side of Christmas (Gone Girl, Nightcrawlers and American Sniper the other 3) and this was just about my favourite of them. It tells the story of two wrestling brothers. The younger one, Mark, played by Channing Tatum and the older one, Dave, played (brilliantly) by Mark Ruffalo. Then there is Jon Du Pont, a millionaire philanthropist with Steve Carell in a career best role (him and Ruffalo both got Oscar nominations). Du Pont is mad, but he also has a dream to use his wealth to help train a successful American Olympic winning team. Mark takes up his offer, but Dave doesn't want to uproot his family. Mark is initially happy with his new home and the trappings of wealth, but he eventually comes to realise that something isn't right with Du Pont and his behaviour. Just as he is thinking about leaving and has also started to reject his brother, Dave arrives with his family, to help train the other wrestlers. In between, the wrestling it is well acted and the real life story is very interesting. Not all films have lots of action and are at a fast pace. Personally I prefer films with an interesting story and a good plot. I also like many sports and enjoyed Moneyball, a film about Baseball. Please give this a try and then read the story of Dave and Mark Schultz (AFTER you have seen the film). It's been a good few months for cinema and there are some interesting and brave films with great variety being made, rather than all the sequels and super heroes which can become tedious.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful watch. Part of an impressive range of Casio Edifice watches., 8 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I think it is a really attractive watch. The blue is striking and works well with the black face and silver strap, which is very solid. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the pull out button which leads to you moving the hands and changing the date is incredibly stiff and hard to move. It should not be like this. But other than this, I'm very happy and got a great deal in the lightening deals over Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars These Costa Americano Pods are miles better. Strong, 1 Dec. 2014
New to Tassimo, but bought 3 packs of these and 1 of Kenco Colombian. These Costa Americano Pods are miles better. Strong, great flavour. As a strong white coffee drinker, I put a small amount of milk at the bottom, then the machine gives it a lovely froth at the end. Really is excellent and while I want to try Carte Noir Espresso, Costa will be the number one choice for me. A real step up from instant coffee. We just need decaf pods now, as I can't drink these as late in the day as I would like. Will be a real money spinner if they do produce decaf ones. Enjoy.

2.0 out of 5 stars They taste more like instant coffee to me than special pods, 1 Dec. 2014
Just bought a Tassimo machine and this was my first try of Kenco Colombian. They taste more like instant coffee to me than special pods. They have a milder fruitier taste than the Costa pods for instance. I won't be buying them again. Drinkable, but will stick with the Costa Espresso Pods and want to try the Carte Noire Espresso too. The whole point of an espresso machine is strong fresh tasting coffee, so these aren't up to standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb return to form, 18 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After loving his first stand up DVD, the second one was disappointing. This is return to form. He is as shocking as ever, but very funny too. My favourite part was when he referred to John Terry and Wayne Rooney. Nobody is safe from his scathing commentaries. If you like your comedy, dark black, shocking and controversial, Frankie is your man.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very poor sketches, with some very good stand up bit in between., 18 July 2014
The stand up parts of the DVD are very good. The sketches are dreadful. Not funny at all. I am a big fan of his stand up. I would fast forward through the sketches as I did in the end. The stand up parts are good and I couldn't sit through the sketches as they were that bad. I'm unsure why he went in this direction. 2 of his 3 stand up DVDs have been superb and this one was a mistake.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good action movie, great cast, but highly implausible, 6 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First watch, I really liked this, but second time around it did seem a bit silly and the best part, if highly implausible, is when they take down the white house at the start. Still it is good fun with a great cast. A popcorn action movie. Just don't think about the plot holes too much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent film unavailable in the uk., 5 Nov. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
While staying with relations in Seattle, this Chinese film was rented out by my auntie. The story is of an old man who is a street performer who changes masks at incredible speed. He decides that he needs to have an heir, which tradition means has to be a boy. Needless to say he shortly finds out he has been tricked and has bought a little girl at the slave market. I found the performances from both the old man and the child to be incredible and the story was excellent and heart warming. I was very surprised that there are no other listings for this child actor who was apparently sent away by her family at the age of the 3 to work as an acrobat. She would surely have been the next child star. If you don't mind foreign language movies with subtitles and can play region 1 dvd's, I would strongly recommend either viewing or purchasing this fine movie.
