Draper 37329 2.5-12 mm Bar-Type Tap Wrench
Draper 37329 2.5-12 mm Bar-Type Tap Wrench
Price: £8.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Finds the right balance between quality and price., 8 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very reasonable quality tool for the price. Mine has now had plenty of use with a range of tap sizes up to M12. It has been used on countless jobs using M5 and M6 taps and is still going strong. Admittedly it has been used on mainly aluminium, but still commendable.

In my mind it qualifies as a five star item as it successfully finds the right balance between quality and price. These days a lot of cheap products are simply not fit for purpose. That is not the case here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Judged against the price, a very good product., 8 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not the very highest standard you can buy, but judged against the price, a very good product. Perfectly suitable for occasional use.

It's unfair to be too critical as the product does definitely offer value. It actually does the job required, albeit with some small compromises. This is not always the case with low priced products.

The comprises, in my opinion, are that the fit between die and holder is a little on the loose side. The holder material appears to be a light casting, so very heavy handed ness would probably break it.

For occasional use it is ok. I've cut threads from M6 to M12 with this. At the larger end you will need patience and care. The dies seem to cut reasonably well with a suitable cutting fluid.

For the price, I would recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars High material standard. Good action., 8 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very good quality switch. Not only the high material standard, but also the action of the push button, which is very smooth and positive.

One reviewer has commented on the size of the switch. I've not actually measured it, but the description states it requires a 19mm hole, so I guess the main thread will be M18. The front bezel diameter is in the order of 23 to 24mm I guess. There is not much overlap, so a fairly accurate hole is needed

A recommended product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very positive yet smooth., 7 Feb. 2013

Good quality switch. Works just fine and has a very good action. Very positive yet smooth.

I've bought several and had 100% success rate.

This is more than can be said for other similar priced switches I've tried from amazon.

This manufacturer also does other versions of the same switch, eg: 2 position on/on, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality tools. Poor holder., 7 Feb. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Allen keys themselves are of a very good quality. The short side is plain. the long side ball ended. The short side is particularly short. The long side is particularly long. This arrangement gives allowance for good accessibility and less likelihood of the key slipping out or distorting the fastener hexagon, plus good leverage.

The holder, however, is badly designed. The keys are a very tight fit in the holder, which when used regularly, especially in cold workshop conditions, is a real pain. Literally.

I have a couple of bahco socket sets which suffer the same criticism. Very good tools held in their holder way too tightly.

The five star rating is for the tools, not the holder.

5.0 out of 5 stars High grade material., 22 Jan. 2013

I bought these to join lengths of braided fuel hose and was concerned that the strong hose would perhaps bend the plastic connector.

I needn't have worried as the connectors are made from a strong, high grade material, well up to the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can be too easily knocked loose., 22 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The material and manufacturing quality is indeed very high. However the product suffers a design flaw in my opinion. In essence this arises from the attempt to make the expanding components suitable for a range of handlebar internal diameters.

The grip attained by the expanding collar is just about sufficient but the problem is that expansion occurs only at one end of the fairly long collar. The inboard end.

Compounding this problem and making it a more serious flaw is that the spigot diameter machined onto the bar end protrusion and which is meant to locate in the handlebar, is too small in diameter. The consequence of this is that, even when the expanding collar is fully tightened, it is possible to easily move the bar end protrusion from side to side. This obviously looses the setting of the mirror, requiring the use of three different Allen keys to reset. It also tends to gradually loosen the grip of the expanding collar.

In my opinion a better design solution might have been to provide an expanding collar which expands from both ends, thus gripping equally at the outboard end as well as the inboard end. This should locate the whole assembly much more firmly, resist any knocks from disturbing the settings and still facilitate different handlebar internal diameters.

It is a shame this aspect lets down an otherwise very sound product. With some thought it is possible to get the product to resist knocks in acceptable fashion, but be prepared to spend a bit of extra time doing so.

4.0 out of 5 stars To be viewed as valuable information, not so much a story,, 17 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
At the time of writing, the price of this book is £11. I paid double that, from amazon. Had the asking price still been what I paid, I would have only seen this book as worthy of 3 stars.

The reason is not so much for the written content, but the quality of paper, binding and photo reproduction. It is very poor. Almost like a phtocopy. My book fell apart at the slightest provocation. However, at just over a tenner, I could live with that compromise.

The technical content is worth having the book for. Information on these machines is, oddly, quite sparse and I'm grateful for the information. The book is to be viewed as valuable information, not so much a story, but arguably the better for it.

As long as you prepare yourself for the above mentioned poor quality and at the now more reasonable asking price, you will probably be ok.

Result Mens Blade 3 Layer Softshell Breathable and Windproof Jacket
Result Mens Blade 3 Layer Softshell Breathable and Windproof Jacket
Price: £38.18 - £54.95

5.0 out of 5 stars resistant to the wind and rain, 19 April 2012
Like other result gear I own, the quality is good. On this particular jacket the fit is also very stylish too. It is quite snug fitting. You could chance going up a size if you want to fit more layers underneath. The jacket is resistant to the wind and rain, whilst not being a full on "waterproof". The collar, when upturned, is high enough to shelter from the elements, whilst leaving room for a fleece worn collar up too.

The sleeves have elasticated cuffs in the ends, sewn up the inside. They are designed for the thumbs to pass thro a hole too, like fingerless gloves. I wear mine with my whole hand passing thro, as elasticated cuffs around the wrist. These elasticated cuffs are quite wide and don't irritate. If you look carefully at the photo, you should be able to see what I mean.

I've had it a few years now and showing little sign of wear. The pocket internals are probably the weakest area of this jacket.

Recommended.
