5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic little purchase!, 16 Jun. 2015

I train history teachers in school. Whilst this isn't aimed just at trainees I'll definitely be recommending this, along with the author's lesson observation book, to my student teachers. It's clean, straightforward and, in a word, lean. Unlike other bloated titles McCrea manages to get right to the heart of the actual classroom without compromising an understanding of the research. I wish I'd had this when I trained.

Boss Psa230 Psu Pedal Power Supply
Boss Psa230 Psu Pedal Power Supply
Offered by Jb's Music Store
Price: £20.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential, 22 April 2011
This review is from: Boss Psa230 Psu Pedal Power Supply
This is an essential piece of kit for any gigging guitarist. The PSA230 creates no electronic hum (unlike pretty much any other adaptor for less money), is more environmentally friendly than batteries, will not run out of electricity in a gig and is small enough to allow other plugs to fit neatly alongside it on a power strip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sustainability!, 22 April 2011
I, like another reviewer here, did not really know how to use this effect for a while, and yet it was the first pedal I ever bought because I saw how many pros I respected used the CS-3.

This pedal is the answer to unwanted noise and huge sonic shifts that guitarists can often find after linking up a series of pedals.

With the CS-3 at the front end of an effects chain you ensure that your volume is consistent whether plucking, strumming, shredding or palm-muting. The CS-3 works across all effects I've come across: switch between clean and drive and you'll still have that impressively consistent sound.

My chain, for example, is: tuner; CS-3; wah; drive; overdrive; chorus; octaver; tremolo; phase; boost/delay; amp. I leave the CS-3 on for pretty much every song in what is a diverse 60-odd song set when playing live.

The CS-3 can also be used as a boost pedal, though too much attack will create a lot of noise.

If you're primarily a blues player then I wouldn't personally recommend the CS-3 as you'll lose your important volume shifts.

Power the CS-3 with a Boss PSA 230es for hum free operation. These are around £20 and worth every penny - don't skimp on the power!

4.0 out of 5 stars TREMendous Price!, 22 April 2011
Pros: attractive (if you like a funky pedal board), very cheap, durable casing, small, decent sweep range from 50s rockabilly to The Smiths' 'How Soon is Now?'.

Cons: unattractive (if you don't like funky pedals), hard to access battery, noisy click-pedal, high P&P price.

Overall: This is a great pedal for the price! Beware that it may adversely affect your tone if you don't use compression at the start of your effects chain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, 15 Dec. 2008
This is a pan to beat all others. The handle doesn't get too hot which was a concern of mine, although the lid does: beware! The heat distribution - I use gas - is fantastic (I feel unable to burn anything) and really makes a difference to slow cook curries or casseroles. The real bonus is its adaptability: from on the hob to the oven is easy and really does make a difference.

The pan is quite heavy even without food inside it so some people might want to check out a lighter alternative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware the 'similar items'!, 30 April 2008
This review is from: Innocence [2005] [DVD] (DVD)
Innocence is nothing like the other DVDs you might see in the 'similar items' category. If you're looking for something which blends eroticism with art then this is not the film for you.

If, however, you are looking for a refreshing exploration of childhood then Innocence is the film for you. There are sinister sexual overtones but they are presented as exactly that. This is a film about the beauty of childhood. Hadlizahilovic challenges the viewer's preconceptions by suggesting and then withdrawing from the notions of sex and paedophilia. The DVD cover is incredibly suggestive but this film is consciously NOT about sex, a fact which leaves the viewer with a refreshingly innocent image of what childhood should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almodovar's most accomplished ..., 16 April 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Volver (Almodovar) [DVD] (DVD)
... piece of cinema. Volver is the culminating film of Almodovar's return to the pastoral. His most self-reflexive film, Volver examines Spain's rural community, here La Mancha, Almodovar's birth place, and the importance it places on family. Meaning 'to return', the film includes another sparkling performance from Penelope Cruz, unrecognisable from her Hollywood sojourn, and the 'return' of Carmen Maura from her eighteen year hiatus. This film is majestic. The colours, the mise-en-scene, the music, locations - everything is superb. If you want to just sit and be mesmerised by a beautifully crafted piece of art then Volver is for you.
