Rodriguez was a very big part of my life, growing up in South Africa. He is the humblest of rock icons who for more than 2 decades, didn't realise he was a rock icon. If you wnat to know more, watch the movie Searching For Sugar Man. Learn to love this genius' music and buy his 2 albums, because they will affect your soul and enrich your world.

If you are a fan of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, you MUST listen to Rodriguez!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Funny Man, 8 Jan. 2013

After watching the US version of Queer As Folk, in which Hal Sparks plays the lead role (and, yes, he is straight) I looked his proifle up on IMDb. He has been doing stand-up comedy since he was 15 and this is his first DVD release (that I could find).

Described on the cover as a white, heavy-metal Chris Rock. This is quite accurate but there is more to him than that. I spotted shades of George Carlin and Bill Hicks too. Hal Sparks is a very funny guy and had my wife and I rolling non-stop.

Why was he kicked out of the South? Why calling cowards "pussys" and saying brave people"have balls" is totally wrong? What is his issue with sweet tea? Why what Starbucks sell is not coffee! All these and more are addressed and pounded into the ground.

If you like your stand-up edgy and exciting, get this dvd!

4.0 out of 5 stars Still Daring After All This Time, 8 Jan. 2013

This is the US version inspired by the hit Channel 4 UK show of the same name. In many ways, the US one improved on the UK one and expanded the characters. There are more characters, events, loves, laughs, heartbreaks and sex than before andnthe script just zings with every emotion possible.

If you were a fan of the UK one but, like me were dismissive of the American one "because they are just copying it" I urge you to watch just the first 2 episodes. If you are not hooked, I will be VERY surprised.

Anker® 1900mAh Li-ion Battery For HTC Sensation, Sensation XE, EVO 3D
Anker® 1900mAh Li-ion Battery For HTC Sensation, Sensation XE, EVO 3D

5.0 out of 5 stars What a difference!, 22 Sept. 2011
Firstly, the battery arrived very promptly and in perfect condition.

Secondly, the HTC Sensation is an excellent phone but the preinstalled battery leaves a lot to be desired, even if you are using things like in-car chargers. I'm on the road a lot and use my phone as a bluetooth music player AND a satnav in the car, not to mention using it as, well, a phone.

The pre-installed battery is 1580mAh and this one is 1900mAh but the difference it makes to the phones life is nothing short of impressive. They recommend that after the first charge you run the battery to flat about 4 - 5 times. I was having to leave it in the bedroom with a movie playing and bluetooth still turned on to get it to run flat!

Once you are past the minor annoyance of having to totally flatten the battery a few times, this is more than worth the price for a longer battery life.

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Now THIS Is What A Compilation Is About, 13 Jun. 2003
This review is from: Dark Side of the 80s (Audio CD)
This is one of the best 80's compilations I've come across that I didnt put together myself. Apart form the very obvious choices (The Cure's Lullaby, The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary) it is refreshing to see the likes of The Missions' anthemic Tower Of Strength and Spear Of Destiny - one of the most underrated bands of all time - informing all that they'll "Never Take Me Alive". There are some curious choices, like Iggy Pop's Real Wild Child and the excellent E=MC2 by Big Audio Dynamite.Nice to see The The getting a look in as well. The most out-of-place track seems to be Talking Head's Road To Nowhere (The Lady Dont Mind would have been more in keeping with the "Dark Side" theme) and Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus came out in 1993 (according to Amazon), so it doesnt fit the 80's theme. Have the record companies forgotten tracks like Stripped (Black Celebration) and Blasphemous Rumours (Some Great Reward) and most conspicuous by their absence is Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Fad Gadget. But these are small niggles and the album far outweighs the NOCTURNAL compilation of a few years ago.If, like me, you are fed up with 80's compilations consisting of rehashes of Frankie, Wham and Howard bleedin' Jones, then this will have you dressing in black and harking back to the days before Madchester messed things up for everyone. Enjoy it, then enjoy it again. THIS is what real music was all about. Gareth Gates et al, take note!
