5.0 out of 5 stars I struck lucky buying this., 25 Aug. 2014

This book was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. Cormoran Strike and his assistant are a great team and they are so well defined, as are all the other characters in the novel. The minute I finished it, I had to buy The Silkworm and am looking forward to enjoying their developing story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 22 July 2004
The House of Cards Trilogy must surely be rated as one of the best contemporary dramas ever made. Ian Richardson's performance is simply breathtaking, and Andrew Davies' scripts the work of a true genius. As well as the stunning central performance by Richardson, the cast and crew as a whole deserve great praise.
And there's a bonus in the shape of commentaries over the first episode of each of the three series by Richardson, Davies and Producer Ken Riddington, which are both enlightening and at times amusing.
Would I recommend the purchase of this DVD set? You might very well think that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Shakespeare lovers and Ian Richardson admirers take note!, 12 May 2003
This is an extremely good insight into the life of William Shakespeare - the greatest of playwrights. Ian Richardson takes us through his life and times in various locations in Stratford in a programme enhanced by Judi Dench's readings.
There are some extras included. The best of these is a touching and self effacing talk on his life and career and love of Shakespeare, by Ian Richardson himself, filmed at his beautiful Devon home.
This DVD is certainly to be recommended to any lover of Shakespeare, and is a must for admirers of the great Mr Richardson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime!, 8 Dec. 2001
A superbly scripted story, which stimulated and entertained throughout. The production qualities were first class, and the acting excellent. Special mention should go to Charles Edwards as Doyle, and to the great Ian Richardson at his compelling best. If you want an excellent mystery story, and an introduction to Murder Rooms, I highly recommend The Photograper's Chair.
