5.0 out of 5 stars solid and good looking., 14 May 2015

This is an excellent store. It looks good, is sturdy, and can be securely fastened at the base of the door and top. The pneumatic stays are a real plus point. I have had 2 similar plastic stores before (not Keter) so know where the weaknesses are. This Keter one seems better, although maybe the slightly flimsy back wall is vulnerable to damage if items are shoved in the store. The shelf option seems an after thought - the lip that you'd place a shelf on is so slim that I doubt it will support anything.

Assembly is easy, and it is worth checking the right or left handed parts first. I would advise screwing in the screws on the back wall carefully - push the two sides inwards as you screw, otherwise there is a risk the screws will hit just the edge of the back panel.

1.0 out of 5 stars not designed well, 19 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Some design elements that don't work. The cable is too short - so your junction box will need to be mounted too close to the lamp housing and so it will foul the back of the lamp. Secondly, the supplied bracket is too shallow.. meaning that if you mount the lamp correctly with the PIR underneath, the back of the PIR fouls the wall and so you can only point the lamp down by 10 degrees from horizontal. In the end I had to mount the whole caboodle upside down to get the required tilt down of 40 degrees. This exposes the cable and PIR to the rain and I doubt it\ll last too long. So that means this isn't fit for purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triffic., 5 April 2015
This review is from: Interstellar (2014) (Amazon Video)
This film is everything Gravity is not - thought provoking, exciting, suspenseful, visually stunning, believable characters, excellent acting, superb sound editing, top-notch score, immersive and above all - human. None of the production techniques got in the way nor distracted. I was able to suspend disbelief for nearly 3 hours and that is a mighty achievement for the producers with such heavy weight theories to convey. Even the computer should get an oscar nomination for acting. Dare I categorise who will enjoy this film? - maybe if you liked Signs, sprinkled with a touch of 2001, First Contact and a big dose of Moon. Don't be put off by it looking like a space movie blockbuster.... that is merely the stage on which the story is played out - a much bigger story, that deserves the 2 hours 47 minutes that fly by. After all, that is a very short time relatively.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good - but audio output not usable., 9 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good value monitor. Compared to the Liliputs it is a big improvement. The image quality, whilst not native 1080, it does look good and more than enough for colour assessment and critical focus. The added tools are very useful - peaking, zebras, zoom, monochrome. I use this connected via HDMI to a Canon EOS C100 cinema camera. It combines well. The menu system is slightly slow to get to know, but you can set up short cuts for one-touch peaking on/off, or zebras on/off etc. - a real bonus.

Cons:
Audio monitoring is via a headphone socket or speaker. The monitor's speaker output appears very low volume and tinny - at a maximum of 100 the sound is much quieter than other monitors and nowhere as loud as an iPhone speaker (for comparison). When recording interviews or presenters the voice playback is almost inaudible - this makes the VS-2 unusable in my view and not fit for purpose unless you never want to playback sound- hence 2 stars. I tested this with a range of pro cameras. Volume is set via menu, so a pain to mute, requiring loads of key presses each time. This can't be set up as a shortcut.

The screen is high gloss and the reflection of the person viewing means it is a pain to use outside.

The added kit in the bundle is good: the articulated arm, an HDMI cable (one end micro, the other 270 deg.) , fabric shade, a sony fit battery, mini battery charger, and a well made case that could almost be used on set with the monitor in situ.

Power adaptor does not come with this kit, but 12v power is not difficult to come by.

A wonderful, gentle, human film. Eddie Marsan plays the lead with humour, and sensitivity - ideally cast. The script, direction and pacing were spot on. The music evocative. I can't fault the film. The DVD extras are amateur / student produced b-roll rubbish - I am very surprised the Director allowed it on the same disk as his masterpiece.

1.0 out of 5 stars Self indulgent, pretentious tosh,, 25 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Children of Men [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
This was awful. It was directed poorly without a well needed credibility check. Self indulgent in the extreme. This director doesn't know how to work a story or anticipate his audiences reactions. I would have walked out, but I was at home.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking in credibility, 25 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Gravity [DVD] [2013] (DVD)
On paper this sounds like a super film - simple premise, great opportunity for immersion in a single character's challenge, and the best of stages on which to set the scenes. But it was rubbish. The first 10 minutes was exciting but the too clever camera moves did not add to drama - merely distracted and all I could think of was this Director was flexing his muscles. Sandra Bullock's character was a cliche, and simultaneously silly and lacking credibility. Every 30 seconds I came to question occurrences on screen - I could not suspend disbelief - which in a "real world" drama is just down to poor screenplay. Every scene involved a non-astronaut scientist pulling off amazing technical feats in physical extremes - never been in Soyuz capsule before and and got only 2 minutes to pilot to earth? - no worries, just read the manual and press a few random buttons and you'll be fine. Ghostbusters had more technical credibility.

This is the second film from this Director that was a waste of my time. I won't be watching the third.
