5.0 out of 5 stars permission to breathe Sir, 1 Feb. 2017
This review is from: Arthur (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
What a great LP this is. The lyrics(it almost goes without saying) are brilliant. They perfectly encapsulate the feeling in the 60s when the old order was being questioned and the brave new world was shown up as an empty promise. Other tracks are full of disillusionment and a longing for innocent times. They far surpass the usual peace and love stuff from the time. Musically, the tunes are ,as usual, sharp as a needle and the playing of the band is faultless.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1989 was a great year for music, 26 Jan. 2017
This review is from: Kite (Audio CD)
This LP is flawless. Kirsty's clever, insightful and witty lyrics ,delivered with her unique voice, float above the music. The tunes and playing are truly great, each track is perfect. Kirsty, her all star backing band, and Steve Lilywhite really were on top form.

Out of the ashes of the (great) Manchester band Molly Halfhead came Wireless. The edges of the earlier band were sanded down and the power pop turned up. The end result was a great collection of tunes topped off with Paul Bardley's Lennoneque singing voice.

Has there has ever been an LP with more quotable lyrics?

Brilliant, atmospheric and immersive. I love this LP even more now than when I bought it in ye olden days of the 1980's. The bass absolutely pulses underneath keening guitars and world weary vocals.

I always wanted this LP when it came out originally. I loved the iconic artwork and now I have got the vinyl version which sounds as brilliant as it looks.

5.0 out of 5 stars " you were n't talking about me were you?", 26 Nov. 2016
This review is from: Dont Stand Me Down [VINYL] (Vinyl)
I bought this when it came out from Woolworths on Salford Precinct, went home and played it to death. Still got the original vinyl, playing it as I type. This is what you call artistic vision. Rowland seemed to be trapped in his youth: the music and people and 31 years later, I am too. Love the deadpan conversations parodying the soul bands of the 70s. Packed full of great one liners: "well you know how the English upper classes are thick and ignorant?" being my favourite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great budget turntable, 24 Nov. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What a great turntable for the very reasonable price. The only problem was that it came with a two pin European plug. I couldn't be bothered to return it so bought an adaptor plug for a fiver. Also had to get cable adaptor to connect the red and white RCAs to my speakers. Only 2 quid though.
When you compare this to the similarly priced turntables, it is so much better....looks stylish, my Lps, 12 inchers and singles sound great too.

5.0 out of 5 stars you left me as a loser but now you're worried that I just might win..., 16 Nov. 2016
Epic, sleek and metallic cover of Leonard Cohen's brilliant original. Not just a quick cover version but a genuinely great track in its own right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistently excellent., 29 Oct. 2016
This is a superb undervalued LP from the kinks. It is strong all the way through containing some absolute classics in the form of : sitting in my hotel ( or Champagne Supernova if you are Noel Gallagher), Celluloid Heroes and Supersonic Rocket ship. I also love Here Comes Yet another Day and Look a Little on the Sunny Side. Great use of brass throughout.
