1.0 out of 5 stars GABRIEL ALLON R.I.P. ASAP Please, 26 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having read all Silva's previous books (don't know why must be hoping he could still write a good story) I have to say it is now time to retire the Gabriel Allon character and preferably kill him off.

As usual this book starts off very well but soon becomes more ludicrous and even boring by the chapter. How many more times is Allon going to assemble his same boring trusted team from the Mossad all of whom are immortal.

Recruiting the daughter of one of the most evil terrorists to track down some other terrorists by following the money is fairly stupid and implausible but made worse by in this instance an over complicated plot, weird researched locations and ludicrous middle eastern bad guys.

I cannot imagine many intelligent people reading any further books involving Gabriel Allon who is on first terms with the UK Prime Minister, the US President and the Pope.
It's nothing short of laughable, at least this book doesn't involve his buddies in the Vatican but I wouldn't be surprised if another Vatican based story came along soon.

Daniel Silva has the skills to write excellent books as illustrated by the first 6 or 7 books he wrote (including 2 non Allon stories) so why does he waste his talent with these generic, ridiculous and repetitive Allon stories ?

Answer it's easy work and easy money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, 9 Feb. 2013

Another winner by Dorling Kindersley. Covers all the components of Office 2007 though a few of them most people wouldn't use. Well laid out and very well explained - the colour greatly enhances the reading experience and explanations. Definitely recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars An okay release, 9 Feb. 2013

Brainstorm are struggling with their evolving style away from the heavier power metal songs and it only partially works own this album. No real progression from their previous release and rather unmemorable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early Silva when he was a force to be reckoned with, 9 Feb. 2013
This review is from: The Kill Artist (Paperback)
One of the early Gabriel Allon thrillers and a cracking good espionage thriller. Well written and locations appear well researched. Recommended for those who like fiction in this genre.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed, 9 Feb. 2013
This review is from: Powerplay (MP3 Download)
Had reasonable hopes for this album but sadly I was wrong, entirely wrong. Nothing wrong with the new singer but this is a very weak and at times insipid album. Problem is the quality of the song writing - I guess Shakra have simply run out of ideas - shame.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece, 24 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Signs Of The Times (DVD)
Brilliant from start to finish. Although a few years old now this DVD really stands the test of time and a is must for those who like their melodic metal played with intelligence and finesse. Filmed in their home town in front of an ecstatic audience and oddly enough where the last UFO DVD was filmed - Wilhelmshaven.

2.0 out of 5 stars Huge Dissapointment, 12 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Few Against Many (Audio CD)
I was looking forward to this album after the slightly underpar 'Days of Defiance' but not at all impressed with "Few Against Many".
It's a little darker in places but that doesn't work at all and the more trade mark Firewind tracks sound like a rehash of previous songs and the ballads are quite appalling.
I'd say Firewind have had a good run but have simply run out of ideas like most of the melodic power metal bands.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Axxis I have ever heard, 12 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Rediscover(Ed) (Audio CD)
I gave this 1 star because the zero star option is not available.
This is a bunch of horrendous pop cover songs that few if any of Axxis fans could possibly be interested in.
In three words "POINTLESS TOTAL GARBAGE".

In a few more words "I would rather listen to kids screaming and banging pots in the kitchen".

Axxis have badly damaged their reputation here and it will probably mark the beginning of the end for them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb Melodic Metal, 15 April 2012

I guess this a sort of melodic metal / hard rock supergroup featuring amongst others Michael Voss, Tony Martin, Mark Sweeney, Igor Gianola and Matt Sinner.
Great vocals and melodies, superb guitar, excellent production and of course highly enjoyable songs. Just listen to the rockin 'Reptile's Kiss' for a taster.
