Peak District Through the Lens
Peak District Through the Lens
by James Grant
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good informative book with stunning photographs to accompany the text, 19 Oct. 2015

This is a very good informative book with stunning photographs to accompany the text. It is first divided into areas within the Peak District then broken down into specific locations within that area. Each location is then drilled down further with map, how to get there, suggested viewpoints with photograph and much more.
Then to cap it all there is a planning, shooting and processing section. This is full of useful information that is a godsend to the rookie photographer. At 400 pages it is not a pocket book but then if it was smaller it would not be such a good buy.
Overall a gem of a book and well worth the asking price for anyone who loves the Peak District

Where Do Comedians Go When They Die?: Journey of a Stand-Up
Where Do Comedians Go When They Die?: Journey of a Stand-Up

4.0 out of 5 stars Amusing, 18 Mar. 2014

This book is not a funny list of stand up jokes. The actual stand up performances do not feature much in the narrative. It is more about the life of a stand up comedian away from the stage. It is told in a reflective style whilst he is travelling from place to place. The names of some of his fellow performers have been changed and it is intriguing to speculate who they are.
I found it to be amusing and informative as well as a good read

4.0 out of 5 stars Good - get walking, 7 Nov. 2012

This is a very good pedometer. Easy too use and set up with daily goals that you determine yourself for steps, calories and distance.
I found it to be accurate. Having checked it several times the steps reading was only out by less than 10 over 300 to 400 steps. The unit is larger than any other I have seen therefore the display is clear and easy to read with a clock at the bottom. The display automatically zeros itself at midnight but all data is stored in the units memory. There is a memo function which recalls the data for the last 7 days for comparison. Data is stored for 42 days before it requires downloading. All data is in imperial units, I prefer the metric system but that is a not a criticism just a personal preference
You need to download the software from the Omron web site, then once set up it is easy to download data via the provided usb cable. The health management software stores all your data and can be viewed as daily, weekly, monthly or annual statistics and compares them with your daily targets.
Overall a good pedometer the best one I have tried. I only gave it 4 stars because the instruction manual is very basic for example there is a 'mode' button on the pedometer but no explanation of what it is for. Also the belt clip is a little weak as it easily dislodged particularly when sitting down. I ended up putting it in my pocket and it works equally well.

This review is from: LAPTOP CUSHION (Personal Care)
Item was expected as family member already has one & she is pleased with it. Cushion base shapes to lap and is comfortable. Laptop sits on firm top BUT as one of the previous reviewers stated my 15" unit just fits and covers the cup holder with no room for a mouse. This does not bother me though.

Very interesting book for people like myself brought up in North Staffordshire. It is good viewing for past and present inhabitants with interesting information on familiar locations and views of places no longer there.
