4.0 out of 5 stars Live is where they're at.., 25 April 2009
This review is from: Everyday Demons (Audio CD)
Hmmmm.. I don't know whether it's me not giving this album time or i'm not impressed with this one.. Is it me or do some of these songs sound samey.. I'm not gonna slag the irish raiders but i find the Answer more of a live band now, rather than studio were it's hit n miss.. I implore you to catch them full on(the live disc gives you a taster) and hear them throttle your senses.. I forecast soon that a new sound will develop, shaking off the tag of zeppelin/free sound alikes, who knows.. Anyway purchase with confidence....

4.0 out of 5 stars Timeless.., 25 April 2009
This review is from: Gratitude ( remastered) (Audio CD)
I saw EWF on a tour with Santana(70's)and Carlos was blown off the stage.. sound and vision was amazing.. does anyone remember the revolving drum kit?? Here you will find the band playing with amazing precision and energy on all counts from driving funk to the now famous 'reasons'. Part live n studio buy it, you will thank me for it..Timeless..

4.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag.., 23 Mar. 2009
This review is from: Streamline (Audio CD)
This album is a bit of a mixed bag but i recommend you buy it for the track, twelve bars from Mars.. Great jazz rock track which was used by Tommy Vance on his classic rock shows.. the rest of the album dips its toe into many forms, even Chaka Khan drops in to sing a funked up Lady Madonna.. lookin for something different, then give it a try..

4.0 out of 5 stars What a waste...... rip Jeff., 13 Mar. 2009
This review is from: Mess Of Blues (Audio CD)
You are half way there to getting this cd, so dont think twice and click on to buy.. I'm with the other reviewers, great playing and good sound.. He always tried to give us a mix of music past and present, but i still say the blues was were he was at.. Hendrix, Stevie Ray, he has joined the list of guitar legends.... RIP Jeff...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational Steal....., 21 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Live At The BBC (Audio CD)
I am totally amazed how this gem has been allowed to gather dust in the vast vaults of the BBC.. But let me tell you this, thank god that the dust was blown away because this is a cracker.. The band are on form and Alexs voice is at his best.. The quality of this band excels and i wish i could turn back the clock and feel the atmosphere once again.. As the sleeve notes say "you had to be there".. Look at the price and buy it, its an absolute steal.. God Bless you Alex..

5.0 out of 5 stars Still hits the spot., 18 Feb. 2009
This review is from: Montrose (Audio CD)
I first bought this album on vinyl and was told that the producers had widened the grooves to make it sound louder(was that true?).. Even so i got home and wow what a sound, BAM!!! I just kept flipping the lp over and over, that was the joy of lps, remember doing that?? To this day, the first three tracks get me every time, i defy anyone who can tell me for its time, of a more rocking intro and sound. "Rock the nation,Bad motor scooter Space station #5", a wall of amazing sound. The rest of the album is full of great riffs and superb playing, they could have been massive. Then just as you think youre onto something great, the second album comes out. With the exception of "I got the fire", Paper Money was awful. It was goodbye Sam and there endeth the dream. Sure buy the "best of" but this album was the one, short n sweet and honest...it still rocks to this day..

5.0 out of 5 stars TIMELESS CLASSIC., 18 Feb. 2009
This review is from: What Were Once Vices (Audio CD)
Like all of us music junkies we get bored of certain types of music and go searching for something different. The Doobies on this album give you just that, from boogie rock, country, fantastic harmonies and some lovely constructive playing. At this place in time, the Doobie Brothers were at the top of their game. The production and tightness of the band is 5 star, its an album you will play over and over. If only other bands out there could be more diverse and stop playing safe music by numbers. You will love this treasure, timeless classic.........
