4.0 out of 5 stars A very thorough manual, 18 April 2015

I like the way it is laid out. However I had a problem on my Kindle version in that many numbers, ie dates, pot sizes, etc are blanked out. Why?

Tefal Ingenio Removable Handle 5 Stainless Steel / PTFE
Tefal Ingenio Removable Handle 5 Stainless Steel / PTFE

1.0 out of 5 stars Idea great, pans great, handle useless., 3 Mar. 2015
Bought two Tefal Ingenio pans with one handle from John Lewis in November 2013 – the handle jammed and stopped working in June 2014. Returned handle to John Lewis and received replacement. In December this also jammed and stopped working. Returned to John Lewis in early January 2015 and, as the idea is good, decided to try once more. Received replacement handle. In early Feb – handle both jammed and the silver band under handle fell off. I am now returning to John Lewis and this time I will be looking for replacement pans from an alternative supplier.

We are both retired and in our late 60s so we are hardly extreme users of frying pans, maybe 3-4 times a week, so the handle can hardly be said to be being used beyond normal usage. I

They do what that they say on the Amazon website. What more can one say? It was a good and useful purchase for taking herbs and spices on holiday and, at that price, they are disposable..

4.0 out of 5 stars Good purchase, 19 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought for going on a 2 week holiday. Worked well absorbing about 6 litres of water in that time and kept all plants in condition both indoors and out. The size (2 x 0.6) was irritating as 0.6 wide is not quite enough for using a kitchen sink and drainer. 1m wide would be better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but does not replace a DLSR, 19 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I purchased this and used it on a combined tourism and birdwatching trip.

Good points:

Price
Lightweight and reasonably compact (but not a shirt pocket camera due to the zoom)
Seems fairly robust
Good zoom lens
Battery life adequate (although little warning given so always carry a spare)
Fast charging

Could be better (not bad points as I was aware of these when bought and one has to allow for the price)

Lack of a view finder is irritating especially when it is sunny. Sometimes it was a question of point and hope!

I realise there is a delay on all digital cameras between pressing the button and photograph being taken but it seemed extra lengthy of this one. This is particularly noticeable when the zoom is being used as the focussing takes time. This makes wildlife or sport photography difficult. The answer is using the sequential drive shooting and an element of anticipation (not always possible with wildlife).

There does not appear to be a lock for the off button. At times it gets switched on by accident which means the lens extends and the lens cap falls off.

Note I did not try the movie recording facility.

Overall however it is a very good camera for the price but does not completely replace a DLSR, especially for wildlife pictures (but then being so small and light means one is more likely to carry it when doing activities such as birdwatching - so a plus point).

An obscure book but excellent in its genre. Informative and educational, and good when it comes to cooking uncommon varieties of rice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price, 1 Sept. 2012

At £17.70 I would expect a light that actually came on when I switched it on. I accept that halogen bulbs take time to light up but after turning it on it can take from 30 seconds to 2 minutes before it condescends to light up. The magnification is not impressive and the small extra magnification is too small to be useful. Not recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect, 1 Sept. 2012

The case is very compact and fits my Olympus SP-810UZ very well. The padding and the strap are effective and the belt loop is a useful addition. The price is good as well. I have only one problem with it and that is that the small pocket on the front (ideal for a spare battery and memory card) does not have a zip on it. This means things could fall out. This is not a major problem - or at least will not be until I lose a spare battery. Ideally I would have liked a zip on the pocket plus an extra pocket (unzipped) inside the main bag compartment for a spare memory card.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good preventative measure, 28 Nov. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I used to suffer from a bad back and now use the TheraP Back Support without the gel packs as a preventative measure when doing gardening, heavy lifting, etc - similar to a weightlifter's belt. This works very well and it can be worn under or over clothing (making it good for short usage). This is the second one I have had as the old one got dirty with repeated use and the velcro began to wear out (after about 10 years!). My only criticism is at times the front velcro fastening rolls over when I bend over and the belt has to be refastened. As I don't now suffer from back pains I cannot comment on using the gel pads but I remember that it was very soothing when I did many years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unputtdownable classic!, 22 April 2010

This review is from: The Good Earth (Paperback)
I had no idea what to expect and only bought this book on a whim as I spend a lot of time in China. To be honest I did not expect much and was prepared to read it as a historical curiosity. Books written about China by middle-aged American ladies from missionary families do not lead one to expect much. How wrong I was.

This book is fascinating from start to end. It describes a life gone by but is written in a form that has a very modern appeal. It pays attention to detail so that you feel you understand the environment and it presents the views of a poor Chinese farmer in a way that makes the reader involved. It also gives one a very good understanding of the making of modern Chinese attitudes.

I read it straight through over a couple of days from start to finish and am now looking for other works by Pearl Buck.

Highly recommended
