5.0 out of 5 stars The same breed, 1 July 2011
This review is from: Lost Thing (Paperback)
I have read Shaun Tan's books on my own, I have shared them with people of my age (chronologically soon 70)
and their adult children - and I have guided and been guided through his books with children of four.
We are all just as caught by his pictures, content and adventures. With his books in general and The Lost Thing
in particular, Shaun Tan proves that we are all the same breed, no matter who we are, where we come from
or how young or old. He was recently awarded the Astrid Lindgren Award. No one else has deserved it
more than Shaun Tan!

5.0 out of 5 stars A goldmine for anyone interested in lingo, 30 May 2011
Generally speaking, if you want to track down odd expressions - and also compare those in the English language with equivalents in your own - this is a goldmine. It's obviously written by someone who not only knows what she is talking about, but also loves sharing her knowledge with others. For a non-english reader with naval interests, it is also rewarding to see how many originally naval expressions in english pop up in similar forms also in other languages. Interesting, amusing and enlightening!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for every civilized human being, 30 May 2011
This review is from: "Dreadnought" Hoax (Paperback)
The Dreadnought Hoax was described on a full page in Sweden's most influential daily, the Dagens Nyheter, about fifty years ago. i just loved it. I saved that page among the things I wanted to stay with me all life long, and I still return to this page, time after time. Now I found this little book on Amazon, I bought it and I am enjoying it, time after time. The Hoax is so good and the description so honest and simple, that I seriously consider translating it into Swedish. After all, there might be a few nuts around here, too, apart from yours humbly, etc, etc
