4.0 out of 5 stars good PSP puzzle game, miles better than prequel echochrome, 11 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Echoshift (PSP) (Video Game)
there are many great puzzle games already for the PSP what with lumines, exit, puzzle quest, crush and many more. echoshift borrows the style from its predecessor but the 2D level designs are more functional and easier to get to grips with when compared to the 3D levels of echochrome. this game is a platformer as such, with a time limit, superimposed time loops and multiple mannequins used to pave the way for future mannequins you control to get to the exit. ratchet and clank: a crack in time on PS3 is meant to use similar mechanics in places. you use one manequin to press switches, stand on floor buttons and push down walls, around the level in the time limit in order for future mannequins you control to access previously blocked off areas, locked doors and over previously invisible bridges to get to the exit using parallel universe teamwork. there is replay value in beating levels with faster times, and using less mannequins and then there are extra level objectives to complete. it would have been nice to have a level editor function and ways to share new levels with others; as it stands there are only about 6 extra new levels you can download to add to the approx. 60 levels already available. the platforming using springs, stairs, moving platforms and spotlights, holes and crumbling floors is fun and working with the previous 'shadow' mannequins and watching them is a delight. this is a merger of complicated and simple gaming into one, and so long as you have the patience and intellingence to beat the harder levels later you will be rewarded with even better levels to try out. the learning curve is fairly gentle, and most casual puzzle fans should find motivation to progress and complete the game and easily spend over 10 hours with the game.

4.0 out of 5 stars SR back to their best, 11 Oct. 2010
This review is from: neon (MP3 Download)
This album, shows a return to good form for the healy brothers, with an album that crosses all kinds of genres they show interest in, electro, techno, dubstep, rhythmic noise, gabba, drum n bass, breakcore and industrial. it is less heavy than their early work, but harder than mercury and giauzar, more varied than most of their past works, and better quality and more entertaining than the recent reformation and digital darkness albums. this album caters for new listeners and pleases their fans. it is for audiences into sci-fi, synthesiser wizardry, techno in all its forms, goths, industrial heads, indie dance and underground followers. it is proper and sometimes heavy 'intelligent dance music' - but without the IDM vibe of pigeonholed limitations and prentension.

4.0 out of 5 stars dubstep: but not as we know it, 27 Jun. 2009

The latest Somatic Responses album is quite different from previous ones - it is more down tempo and very, very bassy by their own standards. S.R. followers should definetinely check this out and all you dubstep fans / producers / djs take notice - this is how it should be done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Karma is a funny thing, 28 Sept. 2006
This review is from: My Name Is Earl:.. (Audio CD)
Hey!, That quality channel 4 US sitcom that absolutely hammered the awful The I.T. Crowd on Friday Nights at the time, is now on DVD. Not got round to watching any of the special features / audio commentary yet, but got to say that if you like sharp fast comedy, you will like this. In fact I'd say this sitcom is more than just a comedy, as you actually feel for the characters and the storyline pushes you to watch the next episode, much more than most sitcoms do. Although not every episode is a classic, there are enough laughs in all of them to justify watching them again, and I'd say that each of the 4 DVD's has at least one classic episode. The Actors are top quality, earl's brother is the funniest character but as it is US humour - not all the jokes are funny. There are probably better Sitcom DVD sets out there, but if you enjoyed any of the episodes on TV then it's worth getting this DVD collection.
