Gembird 10m CAT5e Molded Strain Relief Patch Cord Cable with 50 Micron Plugs
Gembird 10m CAT5e Molded Strain Relief Patch Cord Cable with 50 Micron Plugs
Price: £3.72

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality cable, 19 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As soon as I received it the plastic tab on one end broke off which means it does not stay in the ethernet port unless it is secured with tape.

Three weeks later, the plastic sheath has now come away from the ethernet adapter on one end leaving the actual cable bundle exposed.

There doesn't seem to be any performance issues but the build-quality is far from satisfactory.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice gift, 2 Jan. 2013
I'd seen this book in the bookshop before buying it online and was impressed with the quality of the photographs and the beautiful presentation they received in this book. As a hardback and one that uses quality paper, this is a book you'll want to keep for years! It made a great christmas gift for someone who loves animals.

The only small niggle was that on a few of the pages (only one or two) the ink had very slightly spilled but to no detriment of the photographs only 'white space' - of course, this was probably just an isolated issue.

Overall a great book at a great price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative, helpful and well presented, 30 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Let's be clear - this book is not a one stop shop for passing the LNAT with flying colours!

What it does do is give you the format and breadth of practice excerpts to really understand what an LNAT will be like. The short sections on technique are informative and sensible, plus the sheer quantity of practice questions is great! I particularly liked the way the book addressed what type of questions the LNAT poses and what skills they are testing in doing so. It definitely made the purpose and intent of the LNAT much clearer. However, this book needs to be used in conjunction with much a wider reading in general (as the author themselves note).

Overall, an effective and useful addition to your LNAT preparation arsenal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written, thought-provoking story, 28 Dec. 2012
This review is from: Life Of Pi (Kindle Edition)
Both the story and style of narrative of this book were beautiful - it is a testament to the author that the voicing he employs mirrors the themes of the book itself. Whether this book is 'an elegant proof of God' (Obama) I am unsure, but as an argument for understanding the reasons behind religious thought it is nearly infallible.

Sony PlayStation Vita Memory Card 4GB Model (PlayStation Vita)
Sony PlayStation Vita Memory Card 4GB Model (PlayStation Vita)

4.0 out of 5 stars Unassuming and handy!, 31 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Do not buy a PS Vita without a memory card - you will need the space for downloading demos, photos, full games etc. I would almost say 4GB is too small for even a modest gamer like myself. These memory cards are very expensive compared to other brands but nevertheless essential. The operating system on the Vita accommodates for them so well you forget you've got one in there (till you run out of space).

4 stars because of the expense and perhaps if you're going to spend the money you might want to consider going up to 8GB just because it allows you that extra space to download one or two more things. Overall though the build quality and reliability of these tiny cards are excellent and act as if they were the integrated memory of the PS Vita itself.

Sony PS Vita (Wi-Fi only) (PlayStation Vita)
Sony PS Vita (Wi-Fi only) (PlayStation Vita)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great maturing pick up and play console, 31 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The PS Vita is still growing up - at present there is a fairly limited choice of games to play which won't really change until the winter months of 2012 when Assassin's Creed, LittleBigPlanet and Call Of Duty are all released. Nevertheless, the system has great potential.

Pros:
It is impressively quick to load up (waking it from sleep mode is instantaneous), more like a phone than a games console, which means you really can just jump into a game when you feel like it for however a brief a time you want.

Fantastic crisp screen which is the perfect size for mobile gaming.

Great graphics - trailers do not show off the full visual clarity and depth of the PS Vita's graphical capabilities.

Lightweight.

Great touchscreen keyboard with predictive text means it's fast and easy to type.

Cons:
A trade off for being lightweight, the lack of metal makes it feel less solid than perhaps it could be.

Slightly clunky interface - especially the internet browser. This is a games console first and foremost, but the PS Vita's own apps including the browser seem just slightly outdated and not as fast and responsive as that of other mobile browsers such as the iPhone's Safari.

Playstation store feels a bit sparse - no doubt this will change, but there is only a very limited number of third-party apps.

Conclusion:
The best mobile gaming platform without a doubt. It will definitely mature over the next 6 months as new, more honed games are released that are more similar to what you would find on an Xbox 360 or Playstation3. The operating system is slightly clumsy and looks less refined than it could do but no doubt this will be updated in the future. As it is, the OS is still good and far from being unusable/frustrating. A great console for hardcore and casual gamers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful game., 5 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was the first game I bought for the PS Vita and it was a toss up as to whether I bought this or Virtua Tennis 4 (PS Vita). I am so glad that I chose this! After initially finding my way around the console, I booted up the game and was greeted by a crisp Ubisoft title that really shows that the PS Vita is a step up from any other mobile gaming platform in terms of graphical sophistication.

The game itself combines humour, fast-paced side scrolling and a lot of replay potential. The levels are long enough that they feel substantial without being too long and the varying demands of the game maintain your interest. The different ways that the game asks you to play the same levels adds another dimension to the game which I think makes it all the better. One time through you may want to collect as many points as possible and then the next day you might go back to complete the time trial or find those hidden areas! Rayman Origins really is a masterclass in how this sort of game should be.

The most striking aspect of the game however is its sheer beauty. Don't be misled by the video trailer and online gameplay reviews - you cannot appreciate the depth of detail in the landscape until you play it for yourself on the Vita. The cartoon drawing style is combined with stunning back drops and perfect amounts of relief to certain features of the level and landscape. Not many games will take your breathe away because of the graphics but this game will. It is bespoke, incredibly detailed and just downright beautiful.

Perhaps its only problem is that the controls are not that refined. I've found on a few occasions that I've struggled to get over a certain ledge or perform a quick combination of moves to speed through a certain area because there is a lack of diversity to the buttons that means you feel there should be one extra button to do a more specific job. Sometimes I've managed to go through a certain area rapidly without doing much at all - though it looks impressive it can feel a bit like all you did was 'button-bash' instead of pull of a refined set of key strokes. Nevertheless, there is a nice learning curve to the game (perhaps a little too gentle) and the control issues are more a matter of getting used to the way Rayman is controlled than anything else.

All in all this is a must-buy for the Vita. It accommodates for those who want fast-paced action, those who want to take their time and explore the levels, and those who just want a short sharp burst of gaming too. The slight ambiguity of the controls is rectified by just playing the game more and it is an absolute pleasure to do just that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best screen protector I've bought, 5 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have shaky hands when it comes to applying screen protectors and, being a pedant, I like them to sit spot on with no bubbles. Both the front and back protectors fit very well and were applied without any bubbles. The instructions are clear enough though I did it by just removing part of the mask, lining it up, then removing the rest of the mask and letting it fall into place before rubbing it down. On the front I didn't line it up properly and so just peeled it off and started again, the protector didn't lose any adhesive when I did this so you can correct your mistakes if you don't get it right the first time!

The cleaning cloth it comes with is brilliant for removing dust before applying the protectors and afterwards when you're smoothing it out/cleaning the screen - it feels just as soft as other protectors but yet slightly more hard wearing and effective.

Aesthetically the screen looks no different and there is no change in the touch screens' responsiveness. Perhaps a minor niggle is that you can see the edges of the screen protector around the analogue controls and buttons but this is only very minor and you'd have to sacrifice on the durability of the screen protector to avoid this.

Overall an excellent product with a correspondingly excellent price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice darts, 9 Jan. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Core 80% Tungsten Dart (Misc.)
I am a complete novice at darts - in fact these are my first set! Overall, for a beginner, I think they are great. However if, like me, you're not at the stage where the darts are always going to go where you want them, then the tips of the plastic shaft where the flights are inserted are prone to snapping off. This has only happened to one out of three darts, and as only one of the four quadrants has broken the dart is still usable. But I'd thoroughly recommend getting these darts and replacing the plastic shaft with aluminium ones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great case, 3 Jan. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The case is brilliant - I like the feel of the neoprene (it definitely keeps your iPad safe without becoming bulky) and the front fascia does look fairly sophisticated. Front pocket is great for storing earphones etc.
However, I have only given the case four stars because unlike the picture on the listing, the front pocket is not as hidden as it appears and the trim around the zip is a fairly nasty looking, shiny black plastic affair. But other than this the case is great and I recommend it to any iPad user.
