4.0 out of 5 stars Port Royale: looking good and just as fun, 13 Oct. 2012
I've been a big fan of the Port Royale series right through from the first. This is a great addition to the series. It should be noted that Port Royale is not about being a pirate really. Its a trading game with the possibility of piracy later in the game.
As with other games in the series it starts slowly but reaches a point where everything happens to fast. I like the new feature at the start of not being able to build as you actually have to trade rather than build to get started.
The game is a bit thinned down from 2 with less types of mission, but you can still hunt pirates and conquer towns.
I like the addition of the story lines which while quirkely animated is still a nice addition and controls your growth effectivly.
So overall this game is a small supply and demand trading game but with so many additions to keep you entertained Port Royale is an excellent game

5.0 out of 5 stars A great add on, 29 Oct. 2010

This is the best addition to a game that you can get. You get 3 new game types, a set of new roles, new special events, an extra epidemic (makes it fiendish)and new pawns a which are smaller than the original as well as petri dishes to keep all the bits. The three new types are 'Mutation' in which a new disease (purple cubes) erupts in random places and require curing. The second is virulent strain in which one colour has extra effects such as needing extra cards to cure and political experience. The third is bio-terroist in which one player tries to infect the world and slow down the cure.

These three game types are all worth playing and greatly expand the game though as a group we prefer 'Mutation' as bio-terrorist slows the game down and Virulant Strian requires concentration to rememeber which extra effects are in effect at one point.

The new roles such as 'Field Operative' and 'Trouble shooter' provide a lot more variation and with some will completly alter the game play. This is the best bit of this expansion

The new special events range for very useful (borrowed time- two extra moves) to not great (Rapid vaccine deployment) How ever as you no longer play with a full deck there is an element of luck as to which will be in play.

Overall this expansion represents a great value addition to Pandemic.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a game, 29 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Pandemic - Game in English (Toy)
This came is amazing. I play with a small group of friends and I've lost track of the number of evening that numerous games of this have gone on. The great thing is there's no secrecy so its great fun rather than some where its sitting around hiding cards and thinking paronoid thoughts. Also i love the variable difficulty level we started of with 4 epidemic cards and now play with 6 or 7. Yes we lose a lot but its still often 'if i had this' or 'if we'd done that'. Over all a great game

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice bit of kit, 29 May 2010
An excellent item. As a geologist a GPS is often vital. This ticks all the boes Quick to aquire a signal, accurate at nearly all times, even under tree cover. Paperless Geocaching is easy to use and effective. Battery life is variable and the meter is slightly iffy often going from full to emergency in an hour so a spare pair of batteries is often a wise investment. Lack of accessories and their high price is also a pain but its a case of choosing wisely. Overall a really great little item and highly effective for price
