Another wonderful book about Bruno Lucchesi's sculptures. I love his work and this book is another valuable addition to my collection of his books. I'm very glad I bought it as I feel he is a true master of figurative sculpture and an inspiration.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as amazing as I hoped, 20 Sept. 2007
This review is from: Amazing Grace [DVD] (DVD)
This film is well acted, shot nicely but is very boring.
Ultimately it is the plot, it never seems to start, and although it has good scenes it could have been better, as the potential was there.
It follows William Wiberforce and his struggle to abolish the slave trade. A story worth telling, but unfortunately as a film it wasn't really gripping enough. Still a lot better then some films coming out though.

Derren Brown: Trick Of The Mind - Series 1 [DVD] [2004]
Dvd ~ Derren Brown

Price: £3.90

4.0 out of 5 stars Baffling!, 22 Aug. 2007
After watching Derren Brown you are left think 'how is it done?'.
He explains how he manages to do some of the tricks, but with some he leaves you in the blue.
The one with Grand Master chess players I thought was particularly clever.
He does do some street magic, but this is repeated in all the episodes, I wouldn't say it's boring but does get a little repetitive.
Over all very entertaining, and its perfect if like to have something to think about!

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical and predictable, 7 April 2007
This review is from: Flushed Away [DVD] (DVD)
When I first heard about the production of this film, I hoped that it wouldn't lose the humour of Wallace and Gromit, but when I read some of the reviews below I thought it might be good, but I was dissopointed.

Although it is set in England, I could'nt help feeling that it had been 'Americanized'.

It is well animated, but doesn' have the same feel as Plastercene stop-frame animation.

There are some funny scenes with the slugs, but mostly it is has a typical plot and predictable scenes.

Not in the same league as Wallace and Gromit 'The Curse of the Were Rabbit'

5.0 out of 5 stars Great footage, 23 Mar. 2007
This series has some outstanding photography and is well narrated by David Attenborough.
After the first episode (which seems to be a summary of the entire series) I thought it had great footage, but thought it was just good. The second one I thought was better and by the third could'nt wait to watch the next episode. Each episode covers a habitat of Earth, from Deserts to Jungles. The last disk is devoted to the threats facing wildlife and what could be done to save it.
From swimming snakes to Snow leopards, this series has breathtaking photography, and is a stark reminder at the threats that we are making upon our planet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A look at the diverse wildlife of Skokholm, 7 Mar. 2007
This review is from: The Island (Paperback)
This book is about the island of Skokholm and the wonderful wildlife, especcialy birds, that live of the this remote island off the coast of Pembrokeshire.
Ronald Lockley clearly has a passion for wildlife, and you can learn a lot about the intimate habits of the Birds such as Manx Shearwaters and Storm Petrels, as well as Puffins and common birds such as Gulls by reading this book.
He also writes about the Rabbits on the island, and about their relationship with the birds, they dig holes and the birds nest in them in the summer. It also explains how they got to the island, by Norman visitors and their unique genetic make-up.
This amazing island is crammed with some remarkable creatures and this book is well worth a read, if you like Birdwatching or just Animals.
Ronald Lockley explains how he aquired this remarkable island, and how he came to live there for a few years, and had a family, while he monitered the wildlife and found out some fascinating things about the birds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Claymation, 28 Feb. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This DVD has all the episodes of The Gogs. They are hilarious plastercene characters and well done in stop frame animation.

It is about a family of cavemen, and the troubles they encounter. They don't speak, but grunt, burp and fart a lot.

Some reviews below have mentioned that there is no main menu, but most DVD remote controls have a 'Top Menu' or 'Title menu' button, which should take you to the main menu.

They are great to watch once in a while, but to watch all at once they can get a bit the same.

I thought the dinosaur in the second episode was especially well animated, and the baby of the family expressions are hilarious.

They have some very funny scenes and well worth a watch!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sam's review, 24 Feb. 2007
If want to see some good classic Snooker matches, this DVD does'nt show much footage of actual matches, which is what I was hoping for when I rented this DVD.

It has four documentries on four players. Steve Davis, Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor and Willie Thorne. They are interviewed and it shows footage them playing in an exhibition. It also interviews Barry Hearn, the manager of those players at the time.

I felt the women who interviewed them asked some silly questions, but you get the impression that the players are nice guys.

It does show the last frame in the match between Jimmy White and Neil Foulds, in the final of the 1986 British Dulux Open.

It has some good trickshots, but you are hoping for some matches then I would reccomend 'The History of Snooker' by Clive Everton.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest of his shows, 19 Jan. 2007
Part Troll is definetly the funniest of Bill Baileys shows. This genious (musically and as a comedian) is so funny I hardly stopped laughing. It is filmed in London and is hilarious. The other two of his shows that have been filmed 'Cosmic Jam' and 'Bewilderness' don't quite match this performance.

Definetly worth seeing!
